MUMBAI, September 16: Following the massive success of the US Open, the final Grand Slam of the year, Ten Sports will continue its high-class live tennis action with exclusive coverage from the US$-170,000 Sunfeast Open, a Tier III WTA Tour event being held in Kolkata. Sania-mania is expected to continue when the Sunfeast Open starts at the revamped Netaji Indoor Stadium from Monday, September 19. Sania Mirza will be the star attraction of the tournament, and buoyed by her strong showing in the US Open, she would be hoping to win her second WTA Tour title. However, the Hyderabad lass, who is now ranked 34th in the world, will face tough challenge from world No 13, Anastasia Myskina of Russia. Also in the main field are former world number 17 Karolina Sprem of Croatia, Thai star Tamarine Tanasugarn and Australian Nicole Pratt. Live telecast of the matches on Ten Sports will start at 7:00 pm IST on the first two days of the tournament, and from 6:00 pm from Wednesday onwards till the final on Sunday. “Ten Sports is delighted to be associated with the Sunfeast Open. Ten Sports bags exclusive rights for French Open
MUMBAI: The ‘Sania Mania’ is what Ten Sports looks at to cash in as the channel has signed a new multi-year agreement with the French Tennis Federation, thus acquiring the exclusive rights of the French Open.
Keeping in view the huge viewer interest in Sania Mirza, Ten Sports has made special arrangements with the French Tennis Federation to ensure that all her matches starting from the first round will be shown live, says an official release.
The channel has broadcast this premier tennis event ever since the channel launched in 2002. With the new deal, the French Open will be available live and exclusive to millions of tennis fans in India only on Ten Sports.
Just a few weeks back, the channel had also announced its acquisition of the US Open, the fourth and the final Grand Slam tennis championship of the year. With both these championship events along with the Dubai Open and the Indian Open, which was played in Chennai in January, Ten Sports has been bringing viewers the finest bouquet of tennis action, the release adds.
