    HT Media announces leadership change: Sameer Singh to succeed Praveen Someshwar as group CEO

    MUMBAI: – HT Media’s board of directors, in a meeting held on 11 January, accepted the resignation of managing director &  CEO Praveen Someshwar, effective 28 February 2025. The board has approved the appointment of Sameer Singh as group chief executive officer, effective 1 March  2025, based on the recommendation of the nomination and remuneration committee.

    An alumnus of IIM Calcutta, Sameer Singh brings over 30 years of experience in digital innovation, brand marketing, and leadership across global markets. He currently heads north America global business solutions at TikTok/ByteDance, leading advertising and sales teams for the region. Previously, he held a similar leadership role for the Asia-Pacific region.

    Sameer has an impressive track record in media and marketing, having served as CEO of GroupM India and south Asia, where he championed digital transformation and content-driven strategies for clients. His career also includes key roles at Google, GSK, Procter & Gamble, and IPG, where he was instrumental in advancing digital strategies and optimising media investments.

    Having worked in cities such as New York, New Delhi, Palo Alto, Boston, London, Dubai, and Guangzhou, Sameer’s global perspective and expertise make him a strategic choice to lead HT Media into its next phase of growth.

    The leadership transition marks a significant step for HT Media as it continues to evolve in a rapidly changing media landscape.

    Mausumi Kar appointed India MD for Motivator

    MUMBAI: Motivator, an integral part of GroupM – world’s largest media investment agency –  has appointed Mausumi Kar as its India managing director effective from 1 October 2018.

    She will be Motivator’s first woman managing director and will report to GroupM South Asia CEO Sameer Singh.

    Mausumi has been associated with GroupM for over 10 years and has handled multiple roles from heading Maxus–North and East, to leading the Google Partnership for GroupM nationally. Before the move, she led the independent SBU that handled the Airtel mandate.

    On the announcement Sameer Singh said, “It’s a welcoming change in the organisation. I have seen her work and feel her leadership skills and experience will play a vital role in the firm. I’m looking forward to working with her and wish her all the best for her new role.”

In her professional tenure, she has held prestigious roles at IPG Group, Havas Group and ESPN-Star Sports.

    Sameer Singh joins GroupM as South Asia CEO

    MUMBAI: Media agency GroupM has appointed Sameer Singh as CEO of its South Asia operations.

    Singh will lead the continued development of GroupM’s data-centric enablement for its agencies as it delivers competitive advantage to clients with digital leadership and content. Based in Delhi, starting in July, he will report to CVL Srinivas who is the country manager at WPP India and Mark Patterson, the CEO of GroupM Asia Pacific.

    Singh joins GroupM from Google India where he was director for sales, responsible for the agency business. He was earlier based at Google’s headquarters in Mountain View, California where he worked on measurement, brand consulting, insights and product solutions.

    CVL Srinivas says, “When planning the leadership succession, we found in Sameer the perfect candidate who could take GroupM South Asia to the next level. We have built a strong enabling environment for our agencies with data centricity, digital leadership and content services.     Srinivas has been CEO for GroupM South Asia since January 2013. In October 2017, he was given the additional responsibility of Country Manager for WPP India. He will now transition fully to his WPP role.

    In a career spanning over 25 years across various geographies including India, China, UK, USA, and the Middle East, Singh, an alumnus of IIM Calcutta, worked across brand management, marketing services, media, forecasting ROI and research, sales and procurement at Gillette, P&G, GSK and Google. Prior to Google, he was VP, Global Media at GSK where he led its global pitch, set up the global media team and embedded digital excellence.
