    Eros to release Mammootty starrer ‘Pathemari’ on 9 October

    MUMBAI: Eros International is all set to release its second Malayalam film – Pathemari – in association with writer, director Salim Ahamed on 9 October, 2015.

     

    The movie, which stars Mammootty, is produced by Allens Media and directed by Ahamed.

     

    Set against the backdrop of the Gulf migration of Keralites, Pathemari tells the story of migrants Pallikal Narayanan (Mammootty) and his friend Moydeen, their sacrifices that symbolise the lives of several Kerala migrants in Gulf.

     

    Ahamed’s debut venture was Adaminte Makan Abu.

     

    Eros International managing director Sunil Lulla said, “After our debut Malayalam project, Life of Josutty, we are happy to associate with established talent like Salim Ahamed and superstar Mammootty. The Malayalam film industry is witnessing its golden age and we are happy to be associating with some of the best talent in the industry.”

     

    “This is a film dedicated to the Malayali expatriates who first started their journey to the Gulf in search of greener pastures many years ago. I am excited to collaborate with a leading studio like Eros who with their decades of experience will give the right showcasing and a great platform for this film,” added Ahamed.

     

    Pathemari also stars other Malayalam film industry actors including Srinivasan, Siddique, Joy Mathew, Jewel Mary, Viji Chindrasakher, Salim Kumar and Sunil Sugatha amongst others.

     

    Pathemari will be released across India as well as in all GCC countries.

    Cinemala completes 20 years on air, Asianet honours all participants

    BENGALURU: Cinemala, a satire programme on contemporary socio-political issues on the Star Network’s Malayalam offering Asianet, completes 20 years on 31 August. The show has been on air on the channelt right since its inception.

     

    On the occasion of entering into 1000 episodes of Cinemala, Asianet conducted a mega stage show on 31 July 2013, titled Cinemala 1000 at Gokulam Convention Centre, Kochi, to honour all the artistes who were part of the show right from the beginning.

     

    Malayalam tinsel world’s leading artistes S. Dileep and Salim Kumar were honoured during the occasion. Mementoes were presented to all artistes who were part of Cinemala over the years.

     

    Asianet will telecast Cinemala 1000, a four hour show directed by Diana Sylvester, from 7.00 pm onwards on Saturday 31 August 2013.

     

    The event will include comedy skits by Cinemala artistes and a variety of entertainment by Suraj Venjaramoodu, Mamukkoya, Indrans, P.

     

    Jayachandran, Usha Uthup, Sithara, Shamna Kasim, Subi, Tesni Khan, acrobatic Egyptian dance among others adding glory to the function.

     

    Prominent personalities from Malayalam film industry such as directors Joshi, Kamal, Sathyan Anthikkad, Sibi Malayil, artistes Manoj K Jayan, Suresh Krishna, Harisree Asokan, Asokan, Devan, KPAC Lalitha, Ranjini, Babu Antony, Nandu, Miya, Tiny Tom, Nadirsha were also present at the ground event.

     

    The channel has roped in Mini Muthoot as the Cinemala 1000 event sponsor, while Ujala will be the on air sponsor for the show.

    Urumi bags best film award at Madrid fest

    MUMBAI: The 11th edition of Imagineindia International Film Festival, Madrid has awarded Urumi with the Best Film award. About 70 films were screened in 12 sections at the festival across four venues in the city.

    The competitive section comprised six films – Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara by Zoya Akhtar, Urumi by Santosh Sivan, Memoirs in March by Sanjay Nag, Achal (The Stagnant) by Bikramjit Gupta, Adaminte Makan Abu by Salim Ahamed and Traffic by Rajesh Pillai.

    While Santosh Sivan won the best director award for Urumi, Deepti Naval was named best actress for Memories in March and Salim Kumar won the best actor award for Adaminte Makan Abu.

    The award for best music went to Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy for their score in Zindagi Naa Milegi Dobara.

    The 11th edition of Imagineindia International Film Festival was held in Madrid from May 17-31.
