    L’il Champs and Zee TV salute the spirit of Indian cricket

    MUMBAI: On the occasion of the start of the cricket season on Zee Sports, the five finalists from Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L’il Champs will render the Shabaash India title track to enthuse the Indian cricket team towards winning the series.

    Speaking on the initiative, Zee TV marketing head Tarun Mehra said, “We are very proud of our Champs as we are of the Indian cricket team. Shabaash India seeps in patriotism and its title track exactly denotes the honor that we want to designate to this spirit. The track is very peppy and the Champs have added to its sprightliness.”

    Zee Sports VP Marketing Gaurav Seth said, “We are delighted to have the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L’il Champs turning their attention to India’s most popular pastime, cricket. We salute their patriotic spirit and will be happy to showcase their talent through the cricket on our channel which will be widely watched.”

    The track can be heard on Zee Sports starting 14 September for the duration of the entire season, according to an official release.

    Zee takes ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ to regional markets; Marathi version set to launch

    MUMBAI: Zee Telefilms is taking its successful music talent hunt property Sa Re Ga Ma Pa to the regional markets. To start with, Zee Marathi will launch Sa Re Ga Ma Pa on 18 September, while plans are getting formalised to launch the format in Zee Bangla later this year.

    “The original Sa Re Ga Ma Pa format will be re-launched in Marathi with some slight variations. The hunt, participated by 32 contestants, will run 39 episodes and the finals will be held on 26 January 2007. Zee Marathi will telecast the two-hour final episode live,” states Zee Marathi, Bangla & Gujarati business head Nitin Vaidya.

    The programme will run on Monday and Tuesday at 10 pm as half-hour episodes. The Monday episode will be a performance episode, while on Tuesdays it will deal with the elimination process.

    SMS interactivity will be introduced in the format from the 32nd episode. The popular vote will be clubbed with the jurys’ decision to decide the episode winners. The final winner will be decided entirely on the basis of viewer opinion.

    Out of 5000 applicants, 32 contestants have been shortlisted from auditions held in Mumbai, Pune, Nasik and Kolhapur.

    Popular television personality Pallavi Joshi will anchor the music show for Zee Marathi. The channel has opted for Marathi music director, an ex-Sa Re Ga Ma Pa winner Avdoot Gupte and the popular Marathi playback singer Devki Pandit to be the permanent judges in the contest.

    The show will have celebrity guest appearances as special jury in its advanced stages. “For example, the 16th and 17th episodes will have artists from popular Zee Marathi soaps entering the show as special jury members,” offers Vaidya.

    Zee has roped in Idea Cellular as the main sponsor of the property. According to Vaidya, the winner will not only get a chance to perform in the 2007 Zee Gaurav Puraskaar but will also get a flat in Talegaon from the associate sponsor, the real estate firm Disha Direct.

    Zee has already kicked off the on-air promotions of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa on its network channels. “The outdoors and other marketing activities will begin in a week’s time,” Vaidya says.

    Mumbai, July 3, 2006: After the mega success of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005 & Ek Main Aur Ek Tu, Zee TV announces a completely new series – “L’il Champs” with twenty-two new young contestants. L’il Champs will provide a platform for the first time to young participants, all in the age group of 7 to 14 years. This series will have the little talents singing to a live band on the show. L’il Champs also marks the return of the extremely popular anchor Shaan, to Sa Re Ga Ma Pa after a brief hiatus.

    Speaking on the launch, Gajendra Singh, Creative Director, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa said, “Following Challenge 2005 & Ek Main Aur Ek Tu, we thought of L’il Champs, a completely different series from the earlier ones.     Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L’il Champs will be on Zee TV, Thursdays and Fridays, 10 to 11 p.m.

    NEW DELHI: Zee TV, the flagship of Zee Telefilms, has announced a brand new show with the same flavor of its successful Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005.

    Ek Main Aur Ek Tu, with double the frenzy will give the viewers an opportunity to see the talent and chemistry between couple contestants. The contestants will feature in duet performances with an aim of enhancing the richness of the show, the channel said.

    Speaking about the new show, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa creative director Gajendra Singh offers, “As in all competitions, Challenge 2005 could have only one winner claiming the voice of India title. And the success of the show with solo performers was immense. We thought duet performances would only add more sheen to the already established equity of the show.

    Further reinforcing the point, Zee TV programming head Ashvini Yardi says, “Ek Main Aur Ek Tu is actually for the benefit of millions of viewers worldwide who just cannot get enough of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. As a channel committed to provide desirable entertainment, we were sure that this new version will bring in a fresh new look and a enhance the already existing popularity for the contestants, only this time with added grandeur and fanfare.”

    The series will revolve around the contestants who will be singing in couples. The best of the Challenge 2005 contestants will be selected for this and the viewers will be asked to select their favorite pair. Public voting would eliminate one couple every week and as the tensions mounts, India will get to choose the Ek Main Aur Ek Tu duo.

    The show launches of 16 March 2006 and is scheduled to air every Thursday and Friday at 10 pm.

    Zee TV to launch ‘Business Baazigar’ by month-end

    MUMBAI: Zee Telefilms chairman Subhash Chandra will make his debut appearance on television in the network’s big budget reality business talent hunt show Business Baazigar.

    The one-hour show will launch in the last week of March as a weekly.
    Chandra will be seen playing the role of a no-nonsense judge to perfection, as the show promises to give Zee TV lots of scope for reality-oriented programming.

    According to market estimations, Zee TV has spent in the range of Rs 100 to 120 million for the first season of Business Baazigar. The season will have 24 episodes, from which 15 episodes have completed the post-production phase. One winner will be chosen at the end of the season.

    Chandra and Passionfunds CEO Mahesh Murthy, along with a new guest judge each week, will judge the contestants through personal interviews. MTV veejay Cyrus Sahukar will anchor the show.

    Business Baazigar will enter the marketing and promotion phase next week, with the channel officially announcing the launch. The show has been slotted in the weekday band.

    Zee has already devoted a lot of time on this pet project of Chandra’s. The media house first announced the big ticket property in the second half of 2004. The channel had even roped in Aditya Birla Group as the title sponsor of the show well in advance. The show, which was initially produced by 24 FPS, is now being handled by Zee’s in-house team.

    Business Baazigar is a search for people with smart business ideas. The show proposes to give these people the money they require to start a business based on their ideas. This money, which is essentially in the form of venture funding, will run into millions, and different winners will get different amounts depending on their business idea.

    The entry of Business Baazigar will see Zee TV parading as many as three reality-oriented programmes in the weekday line up. The channel already airs the game show Kam Ya Zyaada Monday to Wednesday. It will telecast the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005 offspring Sa Re Ga Ma Pa: Ek Main Aur Ek Tu on Thursday and Friday, starting 16 March.
