MUMBAI: Prasar Bharati today told the Kerala High Court that it was willing to simulcast live the India-Bangladesh one-dayers if ESPN Star Sports (ESS) would part with a 20 per cent share of its revenues.
Arguing against this, ESS said such an arrangement was unacceptable. The court adjourned the hearing to Monday (20 December).
Earlier, Prasar Bharati also said it would not be able to telecast the India-Bangladesh Test match on Doordarshan (DD) due to paucity of time. It would not be possible to cancel some programme schedules on DD. The test match starts on 17 December.
A public interest petition was filed last week in the Kerala High Court, seeking telecast of the matches on pubcaster DD.
SC RESERVES JUDGMENT IN BCCI CASE
The Supreme Court today reserved its verdict on the appeal filed by the Board of Control for cricket in India (BCCI) challenging a Madras High Court order staying the election process to seek new office bearers.
The question of whether the board president (who at the time was Jagmohan Dalmiya) presiding as chairman of the AGM in which elections took place, was within his rights to cast two votes, was hotly debated in the apex court today as arguments continued. Incidentally, Dalmiya’s advocate, in presentations made yesterday before the bench comprising Justice N Santosh Hegde and Justice S B Sinha, had gone so far as to assert that the Indian cricket board supremo remained its president.
The Bench while announcing its decision, observed that it would look into the Board rules in its entirety before deciding the question whether the Chairman could have two votes, the Press Trust of India has reported.
