    MUMBAI: In a casting coup of sorts, Paramount Pictures’ has roped in Christian Bale, Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling and Steve Carell to star in The Big Short.

     

    The movie is being produced by Paramount Pictures along with New Regency and Plan B Entertainment. It will be directed by Adam McKay. The film also stars Melissa Leo and Marisa Tomei. 

     

    The film’s screenplay is written by McKay, from a script by Charles Randolph, based on Michael Lewis’ bestselling non-fiction book The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine

     

    The Big Short is the remarkable true story of the genius contrarian investors who, recognizing just how insane the housing bubble had become, figured out how to “short” the market prior to the financial collapse of 2008.

     

    Rounding out the cast is Tracy Letts, Hamish Linklater, John Magaro, Byron Mann, Rafe Spall, Jeremy Strong and Finn Wittrock.

     

    Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner will produce the movie via their Plan B Entertainment banner.  Production has begun in New Orleans.

    MUMBAI: Bradd Pitt, Chistian Bale and Ryan Gosling have signed the dotted lines for The Big Short, which is being written and directed by Adam McKay. 

     

    The film, which is going to be produced by Brad Pitt’s production company, Plan B, will be an adaptation of a bestselling book written by acclaimed journalist, Michael Lewis.

     

    The Big Short will deal with the housing and credit bubble disaster that led to the global financial crisis in 2007. The film is likely to be structured as an ensemble effort featuring several characters who had a role in creating the credit crisis.

     

    The Big Short will also be jointly produced by Paramount Pictures and Plan B.

     

    Bradd Pitt founded Plan B in 2002 along with ex-wife Jennifer Aniston, who left the company in 2006 after the couple split. The leading production company has grown over the years from strength to strength, tackling weighty subjects including 2014’s best picture Oscar 12 Years a Slave, and civil rights drama Selma, which received multiple Golden Globes nominations.

    Benedict Cumberbatch to play Marvel’s ‘Doctor Strange’

    MUMBAI: After months of speculations, the Sherlock famed Benedict Cumberbatch is the final choice for the titular role in Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange, according to media reports.

     

    Slated for release on 8 July 2016, the feature will be directed by Scott Derrickson. Cumberbatch will play Dr Stephen Strange, a former neurosurgeon who, after losing the use of his hands, turns to the mystic arts and the occult. He will serve as the Sorcerer Supreme — the primary protector of Earth against magical and mystical threats.

     

    Doctor Strange made his first appearance in the Marvel Universe in 1963, and was first created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in the pages of Strange Tales No 110. He has also been a longtime member of superhero teams like Avengers, and wielded a significant influence as a member of the Illuminati, which included the likes of Professor X, Mister Fantastic, and Iron Man.

     

    For the past few months, some of big Hollywood names have been linked to the role including Joaquin Phoenix, Ryan Gosling, Jared Leto, Tom Hardy, Justin Theroux, Ethan Hawke and Keanu Reeves.

     

    Marvel also plans to release the third Captain America movie along with the feature.

     

    In addition to his well-received ‘Sherlock’ series, for which he won an Emmy this year, he’s earned a great deal of Oscar buzz for his performance as cyberpioneer Alan Turing for The Imitation Game.

    Seven years later at her wedding gown trial, memories of love come gushing back as Allie sees a photograph of a now wealthy Noah who has bought the abandoned mansion in hopes of getting Allie back. Allie visits him in Seabrook and the flame of love rekindles. But will Allie sacrifice her love for commitment to Lon and lose true love for the second time or reclaim a love that was always hers? Meanwhile, figure out how their story is connected to Duke and his lady companion to make an eternal love story.

    MUMBAI: Matt Smith is almost inseparable from the character he plays on Doctor Who. On one of the longest running sci-fi series, the actor has made a special space for himself. But then like everything else, this three-and-a-half year journey too has come to an end. The actor is set to leave the show by the year end to start a new chapter in Hollywood.

     

    Interestingly, Matt has already done an American fantasy-neo-noir film, How to Catch a Monster, the directorial debut by Ryan Gosling opposite Christina Hendricks. It is a story of a single mother who is swept into a dark underworld, while her teenage son discovers a road that leads him to a secret underwater town.
