Cricketers from different teams unite for first time to for Kingfisher TVC, use only handheld modes

New Delhi: The ‘Singing cricketers’ dancing to the Kingfisher jingle O la la Leo O has become the first ever television commercial shot entirely by the cricketers themselves/

The TVC is aimed at cricketers celebrating on the streets in their respective cities and interacting with their fans.

This is claimed to be the first ever campaign shot entirely in a selfie mode – using hand held phones, cameras, selfie sticks and drones

The TV campaign took 24 international cricketers and close to a thousand fans to create this magnum opus.

In the current season of T20 Indian Premier League, Kingfisher is associated with six of the eight teams – Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rising Pune Supergiants, Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Daredevils and Kings XI Punjab.

UBL Senior Vice President Marketing Samar Singh Sheikhawat said “True to the tagline ‘Divided by teams, United by Kingfisher’, the newly launched television commercial for this season’s T20 extravaganza captures the spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship that binds the teams together. Our latest campaign highlights the game of cricket as more than a sport; it is a medium that brings together diverse people in celebration and revelry. This is in perfect sync with Kingfisher’s positioning as the Original Social Network – some of the best memories are made while watching a game of cricket and sipping on some cold Kingfisher brew!”

In March, Kingfisher introduced the first of its kind Special Edition Cricket Pack, which combined the love for the game and the power of the innovation, to bring this experience in to every consumer’s hand.

This was followed up by a new TV commercial themed around its campaign ‘The Original Social Network’.  Building up the crescendo, the iconic ‘Oo la la le lo’ advertisement hit the screens, featuring cricketers singing and celebrating on the streets of their respective home cities.

IPL Auction: No hat-trick for Yuvraj Singh; Shane Watson, Pawan Negi fetch maximum

MUMBAI: Yuvraj Singh is a name that makes headlines every time the player auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) takes place. He has established himself as a marquee asset and expectations are always soaring. However, the 2016 IPL auction saw a new Indian player emerging as the most sought after.

Youngster Pawan Negi went to Delhi Daredevils and became the most expensive Indian player to go under the hammer at the recent auction fetching a price of Rs 8.5 crore, while the Australian cricketer Shane Watson emerged as the most expensive player of the IPL auction with Royal Challengers Bangalore bagging him for a mammoth Rs 9.5 crore.

The left arm orthodox all rounder Negi’s base price was Rs 30 lakh. What a day for the young man, who has just been named in the India squad for the Asia Cup and ICC World T20!

Royal Challengers Bangalore launches anthem for IPL season 8

MUMBAI: It’s that time of the year again! While the cricket fans are all geared up for this season’s IPL, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) fans have something special to look forward to besides the game. RCB drums up excitement and quite literally puts a voice in your head through the launch of its latest RCB anthem!

Bold and catchy, the tune promises to elevate and set the mood just right for the game. It is an anthem that needs to be sung loudly, vociferously, from the heart and with attitude. Just the way RCB play their game. Composed by Chennai born New Zealander, Mikey McCleary with lyrics from Sonal Dabral, Chairman and Chief Creative Officer of DDB Mudra Group, the anthem is inspired and borrows from the bold spirit which embodies Gen-Y’s ‘never say die’ spirit that team RCB live and play by.

With an impressive repertoire of films like Shaitan, Shanghai, Nautanki Saala and Shaadi Ke Side Effects under his belt, McCleary adds his magical touch to the RCB anthem as well promising to make it one of the most hummable tunes of the season for young and old alike.

The new anthem unlike most, is not only about the game but is an inspiring hymn for the youth to be bold and put their heart and soul into whatever they want to achieve in life. The words are meant to inspire young Indians to be unafraid to be different, not be afraid to challenge the norm, to be bold and willing to take a chance, to make your own track, not just following the well-trodden path. These are also the values that bind the RCB team together – their bold and confident spirit which is echoed by the new anthem. Be it Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli or the young sensation Sarfaraz Khan, it is all about making a bold move in life and being extremely passionate about the game.

With this association, every RCB fan can leave their cars and worries about navigating traffic and parking behind and simply Uber it to support their team at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

RCB VP, commercial operations and cricket academy Russell Adams said, “We are delighted to associate with Uber for a one-of-a-kind partnership in our endeavour to provide an unmatched viewing experience for our fans. I am hoping the vast legion of RCB fans will benefit from this winning partnership and ride responsibly and take an Uber to and from the Chinannswamy Stadium to cheer the team.”

“Partnering with Bangalore’s home team, Royal Challengers is truly exciting for Uber. Our goal is to bring safe, reliable and convenient rides to Bangalore and this partnership goes a long way in delivering an amazing experience to RCB fans. With all the parking hassle that comes with game days, we want fans to enjoy the game without any worries,” said Uber GM Bangalore Bhavik Rathod.

Users can request an Uber at the push of a button and an AC car will arrive within minutes to take them to the stadium for as low as Rs 7/km.

For a few lucky fans, Uber also has a bunch of match tickets to give out before every game, besides some signed official RCB swag and an opportunity to meet the players.
