    BBC Studios names Robi Stanton EVP & GM of global media & streaming ANZ

    MUMBAI: BBC Studios Australia & New Zealand has just made a bold move, appointing Robi Stanton as EVP & general manager of Global Media & Streaming for the region. If the name sounds familiar, that’s because she’s been a media heavyweight for over 25 years, shaping the industry with her expertise in distribution, commercial strategy, marketing, and advertising sales at some of the world’s biggest media companies-including CNN International Commercial, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Turner International. Now, she’s set to make waves at BBC Studios.

    Working closely with Global Entertainment ANZ EVP & GM Kylie Washington, Stanton will spearhead content sales, channels and streaming, and advertising sales. Their mission? Delivering innovative, pan-business growth solutions that elevate BBC Studios’ footprint across Australia and New Zealand. No small feat—but if anyone can do it, it’s her.

    Her appointment comes at a time when BBC Studios Global Media & Streaming ANZ is already firing on all cylinders. Recent milestones include enhancing BBC.com and the BBC app, launching six FAST channels on Nine, bringing BBC First to Sky NZ, extending natural history deals with Nine and TVNZ, and renewing a long-standing premium content partnership with ABC. It’s clear—BBC Studios is on a roll, and Stanton is here to push it even further.

    With ambitious plans for content, digital platforms, and streaming services, BBC Studios is doubling down on its global media dominance. Stanton is expected to bring her strategic acumen to the table, further solidifying BBC’s standing as a content powerhouse.

    Turner Asia Pacific strengthens distribution team

    MUMBAI: In a move to strengthen their support to the growing demand in Southeast Asia, Australia and Pacific markets, Turner Asia Pacific has made a few management changes.

     

    As a part of the expansion, Robi Stanton has been promoted to general manager – Australia, New Zealand and Pacific territories. She will oversee all of Turner’s commercial business relationships in these markets including ad sales, content sales and network distribution. 

     

    The move comes on the back of several new brand launches, including the addition of Oh!K and World Heritage Channel to Turner’s portfolio, and the re-launches of Warner TV and Boomerang.

     

    Additionally, Voo Chih Yeong has been appointed as the vice president – Southeast Asia. He will assume responsibility for all affiliate partnerships in key markets such as Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. Yeong joins Turner from Sony Pictures Television Networks Asia effective 3 June.

     

    In addition, Vishal Dembla has been promoted to vice president – Hong Kong and Southeast Asia, with a remit that includes Hong Kong, Thailand and Indochina. Dembla recently spearheaded a number of initiatives including the launch of Toonami, Boomerang and Pogo in Thailand, and was part of the team that developed Oh!K, the region’s newest Korean entertainment channel.

    MUMBAI: Turner International Asia Pacific today announces the key appointment of Julie Alfaro-Santiago to grow its business in the Philippines. Based in Manila, she takes on the role of director, distribution and client solutions, beginning today and is tasked with leading and implementing Turner’s growth strategy in this important territory.

     

    “This excellent addition to our team makes a big statement about the commitment to Turner’s in-market presence,” said Turner southeast Asia Pacific VP of sales and marketing Robi Stanton, “Capitalising on Julie’s 20 years of experience in the Philippine market, she will help us develop our existing business there and provide on-the-ground responsiveness – as well as target new, untapped opportunities for growth.”

     

    Julie has had earlier stints include – Publicis, where she was working for nearly seven years as media manager and later media group head and her last assignment was with ABS-CBN Corporation where she was heading the sales of its entertainment genre in cable channels and print media.

     

    Turner’s expanded presence in the Philippines brings Turner geographically much closer to its key local affiliates, advertisers and partners than before. This newly-created role is another example of the company’s plans to decentralise management in southeast Asia Pacific providing greater local empowerment. Alfaro-Santiago will be leading the charge in the Philippines – forging new partnerships and creating revenues beyond Turner’s core business.
