    Paramount+ launches in Italy with originals showcasing female stories and voices

    Mumbai: Paramount+, the global streaming service from Paramount has been launched in Italy. It offers more than 8,000 hours of entertainment.

    Paramount Global rolled out the Blue Carpet and hosted an event at the iconic Cinecittà Studios in Rome to celebrate the Italian launch of Paramount+. Following the event, the service revealed its content slate that features the biggest stars and most compelling stories. Roberto Benigni, Elodie, Greta Scarano and Carlo Verdone are among the Italian stars aligning on Paramount+, alongside global talent including Harrison Ford, Jessica Chastain, Helen Mirren, Sylvester Stallone, Miles Teller and more.

    The streaming service provides a slate for the whole family, spanning new and exclusive Paramount+ originals, shows and movies across every genre from Paramount’s brands and production studios.

    This includes Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Pictures, Showtime and the Smithsonian Channel, offering the best from international exclusive titles and local content.

    Global series that will become available on Paramount+ in Italy include The Offer, based on Oscar-winning producer Albert S. Ruddy’s experiences of making “The Godfather”. Meanwhile, The Man Who Fell To Earth follows a new alien character who arrives on Earth at a turning point in human evolution. Tusla King stars Sylvester Stallone “The General”.

    Additionally, Paramount+ will be the home of films following their theatrical and home entertainment releases, including “Top Gun: Maverick” which will arrive on service in Italy later this year.

    The service is investing in local content and talent, with a line-up of Italian originals, such as the newly announced “Francesco Il Cantinco”. This is an immersive reading of one of the most iconic texts dedicated to love, hosted by Oscar-winning Italian star Roberto Benigni. There will be will a new season of Vita Da Carlo, which sees Italian comedian and actor Carlo Verdone as director and lead of this highly anticipated series around his life.

    MUMBAI: PVR Pictures is all set to release its latest offering To Rome with Love in theatres on 7h September.

    The film is a kaleidoscopic romantic comedy set in one of the world‘s most enchanting cities. The film brings us into contact with a well-known American architect (Alec Baldwin) reliving his youth; an average middle-class Roman (Roberto Benigni) who suddenly finds himself as Rome‘s biggest celebrity; a young provincial couple drawn into separate romantic encounters and an American opera director (Woody Allen) wanting to put a singing mortician on stage. 

    The film has Academy Award winning filmmaker Woody Allen offering a triple treat of writing, directing and acting in this film. Known for his funny wordplay and incisive characterizations, Allen makes many short lists of the most important comedy directors of all time. To Rome with Love is inspired profoundly by Italian filmmakers who he finds both innovative and brilliant.

    While Rome is a city abundant with romance and comedy, Woody Allen‘s To Rome with Love is about people having adventures that will change their lives forever.

    The film also stars Penelope Cruz, Roberto Benigni, Alec Baldwin, Judy Davis, Jesse Eisenberg, Greta Gerwig and Ellen Page in the lead along with Woody Allen himself.

    Woody Allen’s film to have change of name

    MUMBAI: Woody Allen has expressed his intention to change the title of his next feature film The Bop Decameron, set to be released in 2012.


    The actor-producer-director cited people‘s unfamiliarity with Giovanni Boccaccio‘s The Decameron as the reason. The Rome-based film starring Allen, Alec Baldwin, Roberto Benigni, Penelope Cruz, Judy Davis, Jesse Eisenberg, Greta Gerwig and Ellen Page will now be titled Nero Fiddled.


    “I couldn‘t believe how few people had heard of The Decameron even in Rome. And the few that did assumed the movie was based on Boccaccio‘s tales which it‘s not. Anyhow, I changed the title to Nero Fiddled, which is the first time I‘ve changed a title since my last minute switch of Anhedonia to Annie Hall, ” Allen has been reported to have said.


    Nero Fiddled is being produced under the banner of Gravier Productions film produced by Letty Aronson and Stephen Tenenbaum.


    This marks Allen‘s first film to be financed by Medusa Film, an Italian production and distribution company.
