    JioCinema Premium unveils trailer of ‘PILL’

    Mumbai:  Riteish Deshmukh starrer human drama series, PILL is all set for its premiere on JioCinema Premium on 12 July. Following the gripping motion poster, the platform has unveiled the trailer of the series, which endeavours to unravel the inner workings of the pharmaceutical industry, responsible for our everyday well-being. Produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Movies and created by Raj Kumar Gupta, PILL also stars actor Pavan Malhotra in a pivotal role.

    PILL introduces you to Prakash Chauhan, played by Riteish Deshmukh, who digs through the deep-set rot in the Indian pharmaceutical world. The series showcases the process through which a pill reaches an individual, through diverse characters – from powerful pharma industrialists, corrupt doctors, to medical representatives, compromised drug regulators, politicians, journalists, and whistleblowers. Through the course of the show, tension unfolds as Prakash faces-off the manipulative CEO of Pharma company, portrayed by Pavan Malhotra and takes on an honest fight to find out the truth behind the powerful nexus that puts profits before patients. In this compelling clash of good vs. evil, Prakash’s quest to truth raises hope for the common man to be more aware and vigilant in a world where everyone is at the mercy of medicines and vaccines.

    Mumbai: Prepare for a spine-chilling yet hilarious experience as ZEE5, India’s largest home-grown video streaming platform and a multilingual storyteller, announces its foray into the horror-comedy genre with the upcoming original film, ‘Kakuda’. Produced by RSVP and directed by the acclaimed filmmaker of successful titles like ‘Zombivili’ and ‘Munjya’, Aditya Sarpotdar, this film promises to be a laughter riot with a twist of fear. Starring the powerhouse trio of Riteish Deshmukh, Sonakshi Sinha, and Saqib Saleem, ‘Kakuda’ will soon premiere on ZEE5.

    ‘Kakuda’ is set in the village of Ratodi in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura district. While Ratodi seems like any other village, it isn’t because of the curse inflicted upon it for years. Every house in the district has two similar-looking doors, one that is normal size and one which is smaller than the other. The film revolves around a peculiar ritual that demands the opening of the smaller door of each house every Tuesday at 7:15 PM sharp. Failure to comply with this rule invites the wrath of Kakuda, who punishes the man of the house. But who is Kakuda…Why does he punish the men in the village? How will the villagers get rid of the curse?  Beware! Ab Mard Khatre Me Hai!

    Based in the heartland, Kakuda is a horror comedy that will keep the audience intrigued, entertained and engrossed through its narrative. The movie will soon premiere on ZEE5 in Hindi.

    IIFA Weekend & Awards: Abu Dhabi to host the 23rd edition of the event in Feb 2023

    Mumbai: The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Weekend And Awards, which brings together the best of the Indian film industry, will return to Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, in February 2023. IIFA 2023 will be held in collaboration with the department of culture and tourism in Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and Miral, which creates immersive destinations and experiences.

    The 22nd edition of IIFA this year at Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, was hosted by Salman Khan, Riteish Deshmukh and Maniesh Paul. It had performances by talent from the Indian film fraternity. The three-day awards weekend was attended by more than 350 media from 17 countries across the globe, and more than 20,000 people thronged the arena.

    The 23rd edition of IIFA will again be hosted at the world-class Etihad Arena, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi—the Middle East’s largest state-of-the-art indoor entertainment venue in February 2023. The upcoming edition will see Salman Khan, Varun Dhawan, Karan Johar, Kriti Sanon, and many more in attendance.

    For many decades, India and Abu Dhabi have had strong cultural and commercial ties. IIFA Weekend & Awards will be a celebration of togetherness and positivity, returning to Yas Island in Abu Dhabi and enhancing, strengthening, and building even stronger bonds.     Amazon miniTV’s new comedy series ‘Case Toh Banta Hai’ to stream on 29 July

    Mumbai: Amazon miniTV, the ad-supported streaming service by Amazon piloted in India, has announced the launch of its new show Case Toh Banta Hai that will begin streaming on 29 July. The platform released the quirky trailer for the show on 18 July.

    Produced by Banijay Asia, the show features actor Riteish Deshmukh, comedian Varun Sharma and influencer Kusha Kapila who play prosecutor, defender and judge in the comedy series. The trio will take popular celebrities including Rohit Shetty, Badshah, Kareena Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, Karan Johar, Varun Dhawan, Anil Kapoor and more to task by charging them with the most oddball allegations.  

    The show has a stellar supporting cast including Gopal Dutt, Paritosh Tripathi, Monica Murthy, Sanket Bhosle, Sugandha Mishra and Siddharth Sagar.

    Speaking about the concept of the show, Banijay Asia CEO and founder Deepak Dhar said, “India has a great appetite for experimental content which allows us to curate fresh formats that revitalises the existing genres.     The film revolves around the love story of a local goon, Raghu (Siddharth Malhotra) and Zoya (Tara Sutaria), a mute music teacher whose world is turned upside down due to the villainous acts of Vishnu (Riteish Deshmukh), the son of an infamous gang leader The film takes a series of heart wrenching twists that results in the death of Zoya. Raghu avenges her death while Vishnu continues to destroy everything Raghu lives for.

    Speaking about his role as Raghu, Siddharth Malhotra says, "Milap, Me and my team first decided to change the physical aspect of Raghu – trying longer hair, a bandana, the matches, tougher, bigger and broader look including the tattoos of every religion in India. I found it cool and really enjoyed it. I've never done something like this before."

    Speaking about her role as a mute Kashmiri Music teacher, Tara Sutaria says, "I spent a couple of months before we started filming to learn the sign language as I wanted it to be 100 percent right. I believe if you're doing something unique like this, you need to do justice to the role. I am really grateful to Milap Sir and to everyone that I could learn this language."

    Eros International to release 4 Hindi films overseas

    MUMBAI: Eros International Plc, a global Indian entertainment company, has acquired international distribution rights to four bollywod films. The company has announced that it will release four Hindi language films across different genres later this year in several overseas markets including the UK, US and Middle East.

    First to release will be the romantic action film titled ‘Marjaavaan’ on 15 November, directed by Milap Zaveri, starring Sidharth Malhotra, Riteish Deshmukh, Tara Sutaria and Rakul Preet Singh. Produced by T-Series and Emmay Entertainment, the film is a dramatic, violent and action-packed love story.

    The second film to be distributed will be ‘Pagalpanti’, which is scheduled to release on 22 November. The forthcoming film is a comedy caper directed by filmmaker Anees Bazmee and produced by T-Series and Panorama Studios. The story of the film revolves around a group of Indian tourists on vacation that turns into a patriotic mission. The comedy stars Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, Ileana D'Cruz and Arshad Warsi.

    Eros International Media Ltd managing director Sunil Lulla said, “Eros continues to be a forerunner in releasing the biggest hits from Bollywood in significant markets across the globe. We take immense pride in taking quality cinema outside of India to maximise its viewership. And with this, we shall continue to forge our own path in the overseas market with the sole objective to delight the Indian diaspora and global consumers seeking fresh content.”

    Closely followed will be two other releases, one titled ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’ and the other, ‘The Body’. The two starkly different films are scheduled to release simultaneously on 6 December. The former is a remake of a cult Bollywood film of the same name. Produced by T-Series and directed by Mudassar Aziz, the highly awaited film stars Kartik Aaryan, Ananya Panday and Bhumi Pednekar. ‘The Body’ is a thriller mystery inspired by its Spanish antecedent. Produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures, the film is headlined by Emraan Hashmi, Rishi Kapoor, Vedhika and Sobhita Dhulipala.

    SAB’s Markand Adhikari becomes co-producer for ‘Total Dhamaal’

    MUMBAI: SAB Group’s Markand Adhikari has tied up as one of the producers for the film Total Dhamaal. The film will be jointly produced by Markand Adhikari, Ajay Devgn, Fox Star Studios, Ashok Thakeria and Anand Pandit. Indra Kumar will be directing the film.

    The film has A-list actors including Devgn, Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, Boman Irani, Javed Jaffrey and many more.

    Aamir Khan gave the mahurat clap on the morning of 9 January at Filmcity, Mumbai. Total Dhamaal is the third film in the comedy franchise Dhamaal. The film is scheduled to release on 7 December 2018.
