    MUMBAI: Star Plus continued to lead the Hindi GEC and Urban market while Rishtey maintained its leadership position this week in the rural market. In the urban market, Sony Entertainment television continued to maintain its third position, according to Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) week 50.

    Hindi GEC

    Star Plus continues to lead the Hindi GECs genre this week with 669638 Impressions (000s) followed by Colors on the second slot with 668471 Impressions (000s) and Zee TV with 477866 Impressions (000s) bagged the third spot in the Hindi GEC section.

    Sony Entertainment Television maintained its fourth position with 444195 Impressions (000s) and Rishtey stood at number five with 412427 Impressions (000s) followed by Life OK on number six with 408864 Impressions (000s) and Sony Pal fell on seventh with 397568 Impressions (000s).  Zee Anmol garnered the eight slot with 384625 Impression (000s).

    Sab TV and Star Utsav registered 349207 Impressions (000s) and 339302 Impressions (000s) on ninth and tenth spot.

    Hindi GEC Rural

    Rishtey continued to stay as the number one channel with 306698  Impressions (000s) followed by Zee Anmol on the second slot with 290467 Impressions (000s) and Sony Pal with 286479 Impressions (000s) stood on number three.

    Star Utsav bagged the fourth place with 250388 Impressions (000s). Colors grabbed the fifth spot with 220346  Impressions (000s) followed by Star Plus on sixth spot with 212896 Impressions (000s) and Zee TV on seventh with 194984 Impressions (000s).

    Rishtey emerged as the number one channel and replaced Sony Pal on the leadership position with 320967 Impressions (000s) followed by Sony Pal on the second slot with 320967 Impressions (000s) and Zee Anmol with 288423 Impressions (000s) stood on number three.

    Star Utsav bagged the fourth place with 253740 Impressions (000s). Star Plus grabbed the fifth spot with 215089 Impressions (000s) followed by Colors on sixth spot with 212457 Impressions (000s) and Zee TV on seventh with 187923 Impressions (000s).

    Life OK, Big Magic and Sony Entertainment Television garnered eighth, ninth and tenth spot with 143226 Impressions (000s), 128898 Impressions (000s) and 123671 Impressions (000s) respectively.

    Eight TV channels win Freedish slots, bid price goes above Rs 5 cr

    NEW DELHI: Setting a new record of getting for Rs 5.3 crore against the reserve price of Rs 4.3 crore, Doordarshan’s DTH platform Freedish bagged as many as eight new channels in the e-auction held last week.

    The channels that successfully bid for slots are Zee Anmol, Rishtey, Star Utsav, Fight Soirts, B4U Music, APN, Vision TV (Housefull Movies), and India 24×7.

    The reserve price which had been Rs 3.7 crore was raised to its present level for the 25th e-auction in January. indiantelevision.com had learnt that the bid amount went up to Rs 4.7 crore in earlier e-auctions. The reserve price in the 15th e-auction was Rs 3 crore and was raised to Rs 3.7 crore in the 16th auction.

    A senior Doordarshan official told indiantelevision.com that the next auction would be held in September, though the exact date had not yet been finalized.

    The official refused to give the figure at which individual channels won the auction, as the exact amount after various adjustments was not yet clear.

    Freedish – which currently carries eighty TV channels and 23 radio channels –also carries two channels as FTA which are otherwise pay channels – Aajtak and Big TV.

    The official clarified that Freedish will be able to carry more channels as it is shortly going on to MPEG4. While it could carry about sixteen channels per transponder but MPEG 4 allows up to 24 TV channels per transponder, apart from radio channels.

    The official said the Indian conditional access system (iCAS) is being used to keep a tab on the number of subscribers, but it would remain free-to-air.

    The platform at present has space for eighty channels including its own channels and Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha TV and also carrues 24 All India Radio channels.

    The e-Auction was conducted by M/s. C1 India Pvt. Ltd., Noida which also conducted the first stage of the FM Radio Phase III auctions on behalf of Prasar Bharati.

    The participation amount (EMD) in the e-Auction was Rs.1.5 crore which was deposited in advance. Incremental amount for the auction was Rs 10 lakh.

    Of the bid price, Rs 1.1 crore will be deposited within one month of placement and another Rs 1.1 crore within two months along with service tax of 14.5 per cent on the bid amount.

    The balance bid amount will be deposited within six months, failing which the deposited amount will be forfeited and the channel discontinued after a 21-day discontinuation notice.

While in Rural HSM, Star India’s free to air channel, Star Utsav continues to be yards ahead of the rest.

    Urban+Rural

    On the back of the new Balaji Telefilms’ show Kavach, Colors dominates the Hindi general entertainment channels (GEC) with 664517 Impressions (000s) followed by Star Plus at the second slot with 641404 Impressions (000s) and Zee TV on No 3 with 529237 Impressions (000s). 

    Star India’s free to air channel, Star Utsav stood at number four with 520494 Impressions (000s) whereas ZEEL’s FTA Zee Anmol bagged the fifth slot with 457988 Impressions (000s). 

    Sony Pal and Life OK grabbed the sixth and seventh spot with 445750 Impressions (000s) and  417981 Impressions (000s) respectively. 

    In week 24, Sony Pictures Network(SPN)’s Sab TV and Sony Entertainment Television (SET) occupied the eighth and ninth slot with 367376 Impressions (000s) and 365704 Impressions (000’s).

    Rishtey stood at No 10 with 345618 Impressions (000s)

    Urban HSM

    Even in the Urban Hindi speaking market, Colors continues to marginally lead the Hindi GEC genre with 447336 Impressions (000s) followed by Star Plus with 438480 Impressions (000s) at No 2 and Zee TV on third with 295443 Impressions (000s). 

    Star India’s second Hindi GEC Life Ok stood at number four with 269294 Impressions (000s) while Sab TV and Sony Entertainment were at No 5 and No 6 with 259711 Impressions (000s) and 254529 Impressions (000s) respectively. 

    In Urban HSM, Star Utsav ranked No 7 with 116736 Impressions (000s) followed by &TV on eighth with 114365 Impressions (000s) and Sony Pal on ninth with 108769 Impressions (000s). 

    FTA Zee Anmol stood at number ten with 102389 Impressions (000s)

    Rural HSM 

    In Rural HSM, Star Utsav is the front runner with 403758 Impressions (000s) followed by Zee Anmol with 355599 Impressions (000’s) and Sony Pal with 336981 Impressions (000’s) at number three.

    Colors’ free to air channel Rishtey was at the fourth spot with 262267 Impressions followed by  Zee TV which stood at No 5 with  233794 Impressions (000s) and Colors at sixth spot with 217181 Impressions (000s).

    Star Plus was at No 7 with 202924 Impressions (000s) while Life OK and Big Magic stood at eighth and ninth with 148687 Impressions (000s) and 148280 Impressions (000s). 

    On the other hand, Sony Entertainment Television ranked No 10 with 111175 Impressions (000s)

    MUMBAI:  Ogilvy and Mather shined at Kyoorius Creative Awards 2016, with 17 wins across category, including a much coveted Black Elephant for their work on ‘Beauty Tips By Reshmi for clients Make Love Not Scars. The agency was closely followed at heel by BBDO India with the second most number of wins.

    Early Man Films’ Ambuja Khali for Abuja Khali was the second agency to take home the prestigious Black Elephant as winners.

    Black Elephants are reserved for work that represents the best of the best, work that takes risks, creates a new conversation with the audience or has a lasting impact on the industry.

    Kyoorius, in association with D&AD announced and celebrated the winners of the Kyoorius Creative Awards 2016 at DOME@NSCI, in Mumbai on June 3. The third edition of Kyoorius Awards was attended by more than 1500 professionals including CEO’s, Marketing Directors, Brand Managers, Creative and Media gurus from the advertising, digital and media industries from across India were present at the event.

    Looking at it category wise, 40 Blue Elephants were awarded in the Advertising category alone, with Ogilvy & Mather leading the category with 10 Blue Elephants. In the Digital category, a total of 18 Blue Eelephants were awarded where DDB Mudra led the category with 5 wins. Media category secured 10 Blue elephants with BBDO India sweeping the category with 7 wins.

    A total of 1863 entries were submitted this year. Post the jury session concluded successfully by Ralph Barnett, National Creative Director, SapientNitro; R. Balki, Group Chairman, MullenLowe Lintas and Mike Florence, Head of Planning, PHD Media, 164 entries were shortlisted as winners of a baby elephant (in-book winners). Out of these 164 Baby elephant winners, 69 entries were awarded Blue Elephants across Advertising, Digital and Media categories and 2 entries were awarded the exclusive Black Elephant.

    This spectacular show of Creativity was presented by Colors, powered by Hindustan Times and includes ABP News, Rishtey, Happy Finish & Kinetic as main partners.
