    Eros Now enters Bangladesh market

    Mumbai: Eros International Plc-owned OTT platform Eros Now today announced its association with Allianz International Holdings Ltd, a holding company and investment house with a significant presence in the middle-east, Africa, Asia and North America. The company has a strong understanding of the local culture and through its investment in various sectors, it has a diverse service offering that makes it one of the leading organisations in the region. As part of the collaboration, Allianz Holdings will distribute the video-on-demand service, Eros Now in Bangladesh.

    Bangladesh is home to a large audience base that consumes Indian entertainment content, especially Bollywood movies. Given its proximity to India, the Bangladeshis share various similarities and tastes, including their appreciation for Bollywood and other Indian content. The Eros Now-Allianz Holdings partnership will enable the former to expand its offering to the country and capture a large share of audience. The content catalogue of Eros Now comprises over 12,000 movie titles, original shows, music videos, international shows, and short-format content category Quickie, to name a few.

    As a distribution partner in Bangladesh, Allianz Holdings will expand Eros Now’s reach and business by distributing the online streaming platform to telecom and internet providers, OEM’s including set-top boxes and TV sets as well as promote the brand in the country through marketing tie-ups. Eros Now’s physical subscription card will also be available in more than 100,000 retail outlets, thus offering Bangladeshis easy access to premium entertainment content.

    MUMBAI: Eros Now, the cutting-edge digital over-the-top (OTT) South Asian entertainment platform owned by Eros International Plc (NYSE: EROS) (“Eros” or “the Company”), a global Indian Entertainment Company, in 2019 had announced a partnership with Wasu Media, a major cable television, broadband network OTT and IPTV service provider in China. Eros Now is pleased to reveal that the service is now live on Wasu Media in China and able to deliver Bollywood and digital original series to the Chinese viewers.

    Eros Now further cements its position as a pioneer as it is the only Indian OTT player which will have live services for Video on Demand in China, including on Wasu Media and iQiyi.

    Wasu Media, which has a strong base in the country, reaches 125 million users via its Cable TV, OTT and IPTV distribution network to more than 100 cities in China is now providing Eros Now a platform to further expand its subscriber base. The partnership will enable Wasu Media to provide Bollywood content as a SVOD service to Chinese viewers and further enhance the demand that Bollywood content has seen in China over the last few years.

    There is a massive cultural overlap in the viewing behaviour of Chinese audiences with that of South Asian audiences. This has been demonstrated by the success of movies like Dangal, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Andhadhun released in China over the last few years with significant success at the Chinese box office. The trend now has escalated to digital platforms with Eros Now at the forefront with this transformation of building viewership of Indian movies with digital viewers in China.

    MUMBAI: Eros Now, a premier South Asian OTT entertainment platform with more than 177 million registered users, today announced a collaboration with YouTube Music in India to introduce a special subscription package at INR 99 for 90 days for new users of YouTube Music Premium subscription. The offering will be available to all new users of YouTube Music Premium, Google Play Music in India. At the end of the offer, the customer will be charged separately as per prevailing plans for Eros Now and INR 99 per month for YouTube Music Premium.

    Mumbai: Eros International Plc (NYSE:EROS) (“Eros” or the “Company”), a Global Indian Entertainment Company, announced today that Counterpoint Technology Market Research has recently released an in-depth study on OTT platforms and consumption patterns in India. According to the study, Eros Now has the largest share (59%) of users in the 25-39 age bracket in Tier II/III cities, the highest among all major OTT platforms. In terms of engagement, the study found that Eros Now users had the highest engagement levels compared to other OTT platforms, with 68% of Eros Now users indicating that they watch content on the platform daily. In addition, the survey points out that 9% of Eros Now users watch content on the platform for more than 21 hours per week.

    The Counterpoint Research study highlights several interesting trends and data points, including:

    ·         Content from comfort of home: 96% of Eros Now customers prefer watching content at home

    ·         Smart TV – the new choice: Eros Now has the highest percentage of its users watching content on Smart TV with a total of 27% – highest among all other leading OTT platforms

    ·         Demographic trends: Eros Now has the highest share of business owners as users – over 14%

    ·         Importance of Xiaomi: More than half (53%) of ErosNow users in Tier II/III cities own a Xiaomi smartphone.

The association comes as an initiative to deliver high quality on-demand entertainment to BSNL consumers thus enhancing the reach of Eros Now paid subscribers across the rural parts of India.

    As per the recent report by Boston Consulting Group (BCG), by 2020, half of the internet population in India will be from rural India as the internet penetration there is expected to grow to as much as 35%, thus driving Video OTT services to take off in rural India. Eros Now’s association with BSNL reiterates its own reach strategy in connecting with predominantly rural Tier II and III markets where the telecom service provider has a strong foothold.

    India is a fast growing market for the digitization of services, be it entertainment, shopping or payments. The recent report by NITI Aayog found the industry is expected to become a trillion-dollar market by 2023[1], which reflects the fast pace at which the digital payment space in India is growing.
