    iTV Network to showcase brand new multimedia show dedicated to women

    Mumbai: The iTV Network has announced the launch of a brand new multimedia vertical dedicated to women, for women, and by women We Women Want. Through various social media platforms (online & offline), We Women Want aims to recognise the efforts of exemplary women, highlight female leaders of India, and have cross-generational conversations on issues that affect them.

    The show is set for launch on 9 July 2022. The first episode features renowned fashion designers Rina Dhaka and Anjul Bhandari in conversation with iTV Network senior executive editor Priya Sahgal.

    Sharing insight on the show, Priya Sahgal says “We Women Want is a show for women and by women where you will be a part of some intense conversations as our panellists talk about issues that every woman faces at some point or the other. We will talk about not just the success stories but also the everyday struggles that try to defy us but end up defining us.”

    In the first episode, fashion designer Rina Dhaka shares glimpses of her personal & professional life, and how she fought cancer as a working mother. Rina said, “Cancer as a disease isn’t a hassle, but the treatment is the biggest shock. Mentally it’s a lot of work because you’re really in the fear of death.” Part of the fashion industry since the 80s, Rina Dhaka gets candid about her struggle to make a mark internationally and the guilt, regrets and successes of a career woman.

    Anjul Bhandari may be the new kid on the block, but she has carved an enviable niche. She dropped out of school in class 10 to get married and went on to dress the biggest stars of Bollywood & starry-eyed brides. Drawing from her life experience, Anjul said, “we must remember that women are ‘Agni Stree.’ Each woman by default knows how to balance everything at once.”

    We Women Want will be a dedicated multi-media service for the modern Indian woman, including guidance & P2P learning, career counselling for young women, forum to address FAQs on higher education, careers, finance planning, preliminary legal advice, health, and marriage.

    The show will air every Saturday at 7:30 p.m on NewsX & 3:30 p.m on India News. The program will also be streamed live on various OTT platforms including Dailyhunt, Zee5, MX Player, ShemarooMe, Watcho, Mzaalo, Jio TV, Tata Play and PayTm livestreams.

    MUMBAI: Liva, the ingredient consumer brand of the Aditya Birla Group, has announced its partnership with Fashion Design Council of India’s (FDCI) to showcase India’s first Green Heart Fashion Show with a thought leading initiative to promote the concept of sustainability through their collection and products. This initiative by Aditya Birla was the reflection of its commitment towards breaking the myth about eco-friendly materials and also educates the users about the need for utilisation of sustainable materials to avoid environmental hazards in future.

    In order to enhance and promote sustainable development Green Heart Fashion Show showcased collections by well-known designers: Rina Dhaka, Sahil Kochhar, Shalini James, and Samant Chauhan who created fluid garments using Liva eco. The show reconciled sustainability with the fashion industry, ethics and responsibility with beauty, luxury and comfort with style and elegance. The collection shattered the myth of sustainable clothing being boxy, stylishly textured, and fashionable while highly breathable.

    “The mission was to showcase a series of collection  featuring designers championing sustainability and eco-friendly fashion practices. Liva has taken this step of associating with FDCI to support responsible fashion across the value chain,” said Birla Cellulose global chief sales and marketing officer Rajeev Gopal on Liva’s association with FDCI. “With textiles consumptions increasing by the hour and the emergence of fast fashion, the industry at large must realise the need for sustainability to save the future” he further added.

    India’s entrepreneurial arena touches new horizons with the Myntra Fashion Incubator programme

     MUMBAI: In a development that is expected to boost the growth of the thriving fashion industry in India, Myntra.com, today created history in the world of fashion by announcing the shortlisted candidates for the Myntra Fashion Incubator (MFI) program. Renowned designers from the fashion industry, experts in the retail industry along with Myntra’s leadership team revealed the shortlisted names after a rigorous selection process held at Crowne Plaza, Bangalore.

    Close to 30 promising applicants were asked to present their creative and scalable business ideas to the jury explaining their strategy on how their designs and ideas can be transformed into a sustainable business venture through the MFI platform. Live demonstrations of sample designs were displayed by the applicants for the benefit of the judges and audience. The judges–Wendell Rodricks, Rina Dhaka, Rohit Gandhi & Rahul Khanna and Paras Bairoliya–analyzed each participant’s design concept and announced the best applicants in the evening. Industry officials like Anant Daga, CEO,TCNS Clothing company, Sandeep Mukim, CEO, Proline India Ltd, Simeran Bhasin, CMO, Wildcraft were also part of the jury.

     As part of the one year Designer In Residence (DIR) Program, Myntra will provide the selected candidates necessary design and work infrastructure, capital support and mentorship from a team of acclaimed designers. The DIR Program would cover essentials like branding, consumer behaviour, product design & development, pricing, inventory planning, retailing and financial planning among others.

    The first batch of the incubator program will occupy the design space inside the Myntra campus by 15th January 2015 and work full-time on their brand. MFI will also provide these candidates an opportunity to showcase their brands in various platforms as well as to be retailed on Myntra.com. After completing one season, they can also pitch their fashion designs to MFI advisory board for investments to scale their business.

    Abhishek Verma, Sr. VP, Myntra Fashion Brands said, “We have been excited about this initiative since day one, and now as this program is brought to life with these finalists, we believe it is going to revolutionise the fashion industry and set a new hallmark.”  He further added, “At Myntra, we value and encourage the entrepreneurial spirit and therefore with initiatives like MFI, we aim to provide support to young talent and empower them to create sizeable indigenous fashion brands in the long-run.
