    Harrison Ford in Blade Runner sequel

    MUMBAI: Harrison Ford is set to appear in the sequel of Blade Runner to be directed by Ridley Scott.

    The 69-year-old actor was persuaded by Scott to make a cameo appearance in the follow up to the 1982 sci-fi movie. The director believes that Ford would be an amusing addition to the upcoming film.

    “I don‘‘t think it‘ll be Harrison (starring). But I‘ve got to have him in it somewhere. That‘d be amusing,” Scott said.

    Scott has lined up the original Blade Runner screenwriter Hampton Fancher to pen the script for the forthcoming film that will focus on a female protagonist. “I‘ve started my first meetings on the Blade Runner sequel. We have a very good take on it. And we will definitely be featuring a female protagonist,” he added.

    In the original, Ford starred as the titular character, Rick Deckard. The film also starred Daryl Hannah, Rutger Hauer and Sean Young.

    MUMBAI: Penelope Cruz may star along husband Javier Bardem and Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt in the upcoming Ridley Scott film The Counselor.

    Earlier, Cruz and Bardem have worked together when they appeared in the 1992 film Jamon Jamon and later in 2008 in Woody Allen‘s Vicky Christina Barcelona.

    In addition to Bardem, the gritty drama based on the McCarthy novel of the same name Michael Fassbender and Brad Pitt have already signed on to co-star in the film.
    Also in talks is Jolie, though she may have trouble balancing the part with her starring role in Maleficent that releases in 2014.

    MUMBAI: Angelina Jolie is in negotiations to star in director Ridley Scott‘s upcoming narco-thriller The Counselor.

    The 36-year-old actress will most likely play a small role in the upcoming film just a few weeks after her partner Brad Pitt was said to have a discussion for another small role in the same film, it is understood.

    It is possible for Jolie to join Scott‘s project as she will not begin filming her next film Maleficent until late June or early July. Scott himself has scheduled a June start for the film.

    The Counselor, which is described as No Country for Old Men on steroids, follows a respected lawyer who thinks he can dip a toe in to the drug business without getting sucked down.

    It is said that Michael Fassbender is being tapped to star in the male lead.

    MUMBAI: Ridley Scott will soon direct Angelina Jolie for his forthcoming film Gertrude Bell, a biopic of a pioneering figure in the Middle East in the early 20th Century. The project is being developed by Scott‘s Scott Free Productions.

    Bell, who worked for British intelligence during the first World War, was described as a ‘key asset‘ in helping dismantle the Ottoman Empire and also founding Iraq that won her admiration of many a Arab. She had a passion for archaeology and languages and wrote about her adventures in the region.

    Jolie, 36, whose directorial debut In the Land of Blood and Honey hits theaters next month, has a number of acting projects in development.

    The actress last starred in The Tourist opposite Johnny Depp.
