  • Zee TV rolls out 360-degree campaign for its reality show DID Super Moms 3

Zee TV rolls out 360-degree campaign for its reality show DID Super Moms 3

Mumbai: Over the last three decades, Zee TV has been a pioneer in shaping the contours of reality television in India, introducing audiences to homegrown non-fiction formats like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, Dance India Dance, and India’s Best Dramebaaz. These properties have not only emerged as immensely popular talent-based reality TV franchises but have become an integral part of India’s rich culture. In fact, launched earlier this year, season five of DID L’il Masters consistently topped viewership charts throughout its run, standing testament to the channel’s finger on the pulse of the audience when it comes to talent-based reality formats. And now, after receiving an overwhelming response to the previous two seasons that introduced audiences to some truly exceptional dancing mothers, Zee TV is all set to return with the third edition of its popular nonfiction property – DID Super Moms, which will air every Saturday and Sunday at 9 pm from 2nd July onwards.

In the run-up to the much-awaited launch of DID Super Moms season 3, the channel has set out on a promotional blitzkrieg across the country to ensure that the new season creates mass hysteria of an unforeseen magnitude. With an aim to salute mothers across India who have always put their family interests before their own but are now finally on their way to give wings to their own dreams, Zee TV conducted several ingenious activities across the country. A social experiment in prominent malls of Mumbai and Ahmedabad asked mothers and their children questions about each other. At the end of this experiment, a touching montage highlighting how our mothers literally live their lives around us and how little we, as their children, know about their personal dreams and aspirations was created. The core idea was to wake us up to the fact that our mothers have an identity beyond being just our moms and that we need to turn into their biggest cheerleaders and support them in their journeys of reaching out to their goals and aspirations.

Another interesting coup pulled off by the marketing team at Zee TV is a reel put up by none other than popular television actor Rupali Ganguly, where she turns into a cheerleader for her mother who had auditioned for DID Super Moms in 2013 and every other super mom in the country. Re-living that memory, she danced to the title track of the show. Rupali extending an arm of support to the new batch of super moms who are setting out to pursue their own dance passions and carving an identity of their own with the support of their own family sits beautifully in sync with the journey of her popular on-screen character. This hook step challenge she participated in is called #SuperMomKaSuperStep and it has brought the entire dance influencer community together where children along with their super moms are recreating the hook-step that was kickstarted by the judges – Remo D’Souza, Urmila Matondkar, Bhagyashree Dassani & host Jay Bhanushali. While these dance reels have gone viral, social media is also buzzing with heartening messages from people across the country encouraging women to follow their dreams and passions.

Celebrating the relentless spirit of some truly exceptional super achievers who have continued to scale even greater heights post motherhood, Zee TV sent DID Super Moms hampers to celebrity moms from different walks of life including Anushka Sharma, Anita Hassanandani, Juhi Parmar, wrestler Babita Phogat, chef Pankaj Bhaduria, singer Neeti Mohan and journalists from the media fraternity. Apart from saluting their spirit, Zee TV hopes to give wings to the dreams of moms across India, motivate them to pursue their passions and become super moms!

Another interesting layer to this innovative campaign had influencers Bhavin Bhanushali of Mumbai & Yuvraj Dua of Delhi drive people’s attention to volunteers lining the streets in both the metros with placards that read – ‘Khana Time Pe Kha Lena Beta’, ‘All The Best, Beta’, ‘Phone Kyun Nahi Uthate Beta?’ indicating the selfless and nurturing attitude of mothers who take care of their family. A pertinent question was raised where the people of Mumbai, Delhi & Ahmedabad were asked – How many of you ask these very questions to your mother? These posts populated under #JustSuperMomThings urged all of us to think more about our mothers, their goals and aspirations and join Zee TV in its journey of celebrating the dreams and passions of India’s mothers on DID Super Moms.

With so many heart-warming ideas and initiatives driving multiple conversations around the journeys of moms to super moms, DID Super Moms seems poised for a truly buzzy launch.

  • ‘A Flying Jatt’ is passable kid stuff

‘A Flying Jatt’ is passable kid stuff

The producers of A Flying Jatt,  Balaji Motion Pictures, takes a total diversion with this film. From their earlier blend of films with mainly adult themes, they have moved to a film that caters to children and the preteen lot. Complately inspired by foreign superhero films, A Flying Jatt keeps Indian sensibilities as its main theme instead.

The film follows in the footsteps of earlier films of this genre: the incognito superhero kinds like Boney Kapoor’s Mr India (1987), Rakesh Roshan’s Krrish (2006) and Krrish3 (2013), Romu Sippy’s Shiva KaInsaaf (3D- 1985), Tinnu Anand’s Shahenshah(1988) and earlier ones like Kishore Kumar-starrer Mr X In Bombay (1964), which dealt with the villains of the mortal kind.

A Flying Jatt is about a superhero who propagates Swachh Bharat or Clean India and sings paeans to the valour and glory of the Sikh community and fights a super villain.

Tiger Shroff is a martial arts instructor at a local school in Punjab. Thanks to his blundering ways and shy nature, he is never taken seriously and even his mastery over the art is passable. His young students make fun of him. While he nurses a silent love for Jacqueline Fernandez, he can’t gather the courage to express it.

Tiger is the son of Amrita Singh who always pushes him to take inspiration from his dead father who was considered a hero by the locals. Amrita’s troubles start when a drug mafia run by KK Menon decides to grab her land, which would help his drug factory save millions in money as well as time, due to easy access to the drug markets. But the piece of land holds deep memories for Amrita and it also has a 200 year old tree that is worshipped by the people.

Menon fails to convince Amrita with money and tries the only other way he knows: by sending out his goons. While the average goons are dealt with by Amrita herself, the tougher ones are for Tiger to handle. To match the strength of Tiger, he sends out his ultimate weapon, the gigantic-looking Nathan Jones (an Australian actor, power-lifting champion and an ex-professional wrestler). Jones takes on Tiger who, in the process of their duel, gets blessed by the sacred tree with super powers and also gets the imprints of the religious symbol of Sikh faith on his back.

Tiger can now do things a normal human can’t like flying and also packing a powerful punch. Jones, who was buried in the mud, returns to the scene more powerful now as his blood has turned black and he survives by whiffing on polluted air and other waste strewn around by the society. Thanks to the people’s apathy towards environment, Jones is unbeatable, at least on Planet Earth.

Amrita wants Tiger to don the pagree his father wore, which he refuses because other kids made fun of him with Sikh jokes. While the film goes on to teach people the virtue of keeping the environs clean as well as planting more trees, Amrita, for her part, initiates Tiger into the virtues of Sikh way of life and tells him stories of their exploits.

Meanwhile, Menon has mended his ways after he almost lost his daughter to pollution-related ailment. But, by this time, Jones is out of control. He has a personal grudge against Tiger now.

A Flying Jatt does not have much of a story. It is about a simpleton who gains super powers and a lot of footage goes into showing his prowess as he saves people in distress, from calamities as well as goons.

The length at 151 minutes makes things repetitive while trying for a film aimed mainly at children. In the first half, some comic scenes entertain its target audience. The direction is good in general with impressive use of special effects; the effects in the song ,which also has a nice melodious feel to it, are good. Beat pe booty… is already popular and both songs are appealing. Cinematography is competent. Tiger Shroff excels in dances and action, both being his forte. Jacqueline is okay. Amrita Singh makes her presence felt, while KK Menon has little to do. Nathan Jones can’t act and his drawls are incomprehensible. The film needed to be edited extensively.

A Flying Jatt is a passable fare with appeal for kids besides audiences in Delhi and Punjab generally. Released on Thursday to cash in on the festive mood of Janmashtami, it gets three more days to rake in the moolah over the weekend at the box office. Sustenance thereafter will be tough.

    Producers: Shobha Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor.

    Director: Remo D’Souza.

Cast: Tiger Shroff, Jacqueline Fernandez, Amrita Singh, KK Menon, Nathan Jones and Shraddha Kapoor in a cameo.

Star Plus reinvents its weekend programming with ‘Dance +’ season 2

MUMBAI: With an aim to give more space and importance to fiction programming, Star Plus redefined its fiction programming by airing its primetime shows on all seven days from Monday to Sunday since February. All the shows between the 8.00 pm to 10.30 pm slots were aired on Saturdays and Sundays as well. The channel wanted to aggressively promote and back its fiction programming and this is why its reality show Nach Baliye season 8 has been kept on hold for at least two months.

Also the channel had already extended its early primetime slot by stretching all the shows slotted between 5 pm to 7.30 pm to all seven days. Mohi – Ek Khawab Ke Khilne Ki Kahani, Mere Agne Mein, Suhani Si Ek Ladki, Saath Nibhana Saathithya  and Yeh Hai Mohabbatein.

However starting 2 July, Star Plus will revive its non-fiction programming with its new offering Dance + season 2. The talent hunt produced by Frames Productions will be aired on Saturday and Sunday at the 8 pm time band.

Speaking with Indiantelevision.com, Frames Production founder Ranjeet Thakur said, “We received a good response for season one even though it was our first experience with the show. This time around, the second season will take the show to a higher level. The talent in this country is exceptional and audiences will see that in this season.”

For this season the makers have roped in talented choreographer Remo D’Souza who will don the hat of a super judge. Moreover, the show will have three mentors Dharmesh Yelande, Shakti Mohan and Punit Pathak who will be teaching the contestants and choreographing the acts. “This season we have Punit in the show as Sumeet Nagdev has some other engagements so he said no for this season”, informed Thakur.

The makers have done auditions in 20 cities including Lucknow, Jaipur, Ranchi, Assam and all the metros and mini metros cities.

Dance+ will be a 26-episode show of one hour duration each. “There will be no change in the format as such, except we are moving to a one hour show on Saturday and Sunday, while during the earlier season it was a two hour show only on Sunday.”

The channel has roped in Hyundai as the presenting sponsor and co-powered by Cera and Oppo.

Star Plus’ new non-fiction offering, Dance + season 2  will be pitched against Zee TV’s  Tashan-e-ishq, Balaji’s new show on Colors Kawach at 8 pm on Saturday and Sunday, Sony TV’s Aadlat, Life OK’ s Savdhaan India and Sab TV’s Tarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma.
