    BARC week 8: Most regional channels successfully continue to retain their positions

    MUMBAI: Fakt Marathi climbed fourth position from fifth position pushing down Star Pravah in fifth position, even as the leaders of all regional channel continued dominate their respective positions with slight increase and fall in ratings, according to the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC).

    Bangla GEC

    Star Jalsha was in the numero uno position among Bangla general entertainment channels with 223650 (‘000s) as against 220355 (‘000s) in week Seven. Zee Bangla bagged the second berth with 142368 (‘000s) followed by Jalsha Movies in the third position with 69316 (‘000s).

    Though Zee Bangla Cinema saw a fall in ratings, it maintained the fourth position with 30816 (‘000s) as against 37709 (‘000s) in the previous week followed by Colors Bangla at the fifth slot with 30744 (‘000s).

    Bhojpuri GEC

    Big Magic Ganga saw a sharp rise and continued to maintain the top position with 20196 (‘000s) against 16346 (‘000s) in week Seven, followed by Bhojpuri Cinema at second position with 15728 (‘000s).  

    In comparison, Dabangg climbed up to third slot with 7489 (‘000s) and pushed Dangal TV to the fourth position with 7485 (‘000s) in week 8 while ETV Bihar Jharkhand with 3993 (‘000s) maintained its number five position.

    Kannada GECs

    Colors Kannada retained its top position with 239925 (‘000s) followed by Suvarna at number two position with 182363 (‘000s), while Zee Kannada retained third spot with 144678 (‘000s) followed by Udaya Movies at fourth berth with 135757 (‘000s) as against 130904 (‘000s) in the preceding week. Udaya TV stood at fifth spot with 132177 (‘000s) as against 119542 (‘000s) in the previous week .

    Malayalam GECs

    Asianet continued to hold the top slot with rise in ratings at 410813 (‘000s) showing a further rise compared to its figures of 340204 (‘000s) in the previous week. This was followed by Mazhavil Manorama with 91947 (‘000s) in the second berth. Flowers TV saw a dip in its rating but managed to retain the third spot with 72372 (‘000s) as against 88537 (‘000s) in week 7 .Asianet Movies with 60124(‘000s) stood at number four position followed by Surya TV at fifth berth with 53843(‘000s)

    Marathi GECs

    Zee Marathi also remained at the top with 133880 (‘000s) followed by Colors Marathi in second position with 103425 (‘000s) as against 95409 (‘000s) in previous week. While Zee Talkies retained third position with 65090 (‘000s) as against 89848 (‘000s) in week 7, Fakt Marathi climbed one step to fourth position with 51755 (‘000s) as against 24396 (‘000s) in the previous week, pushing down Star Pravah in fifth position with 42576 (‘000s) as against 46968 (‘000s) in week 7.

    Oriya GECs

    Though Sarthak TV witnessed a slight fall in its ratings, it maintained its position on top with 88626 (‘000s) as against 92440 (‘000s) in week 7, followed by Tarang TV in second spot with 56638 (‘000s). Colors Oriya retained third berth with 20625 (‘000s) whereas Odisha TV was in fourth position with 17571 (‘000s) showing a slight increase in its ratings followed by Alankar with 9815 (‘000s) in fifth place as against 7187 (‘000s) in previous week.

    Tamil GECs

    Sun TV remained the leader in the Tamil space with a minor fall  in ratings at 938256 (‘000s) as against 953616 (‘000s) in week 7.KTV was at number two with fall in ratings at 234971 (‘000s) as against 264009 (‘000s) in the previous week whereas Star Vijay continued to hold its third position with 167514 (‘000s) followed by Polimer in fourth slot with 81404 (‘000s) and Zee Tamil on fifth slot with 79165 (‘000s) in week 8.

    Telugu GECs

    Though ETV Telugu saw a fall in ratings, it continued to lead the Telugu genre with 398781 (‘000s) as against 417220 (‘000s) the week, before followed by Zee Telugu on second position with 367722 (‘000s) and Maa TV on third spot with 365602 (‘000s). Gemini TV retained its place in the fourth rung with 281682 (‘000s) while Gemini Movies with 189472 (‘000s) stood in the fifth position.

    MUMBAI: In week nine of TAM TV ratings, let’s take a look at how regional channels have fared across the country. 

     

    In the Bihar + Jharkhand region in the CS4+ market, Big Magic Ganga led the chart with 2,365 GVTs followed by Mahuaa Plus with 1,122 GVTs and Anjan at the third spot with 666 GVTs.

     
    In the Marathi general entertainment channel (GEC) space, Z Marathi topped the Maharashtra region with 152,047 GVTs followed by Star Pravah at second position with 51,124 GVTs. ETV Marathi stood third with 49,906 GVTs.

     
    In the Bengali market, Star Jalsha continued to hold its number one position in West Bengal with 100,948 GVTs followed by Z Bangla with 81,658 GVTs and ETV Bangla at number three with 24,930 GVTs.

     
    In the Tamil GEC space, Sun TV registered number one position with 216,150 GVTs followed by Star Vijay with 90,069 GVTs and Z Tamil ranked number three with 21,000 GVTs.

     
    On the other hand, in the Kannada market, Udaya stood at number one spot with 68,402 GVTs. ETV Kannada ranked second with 53,460 GVTs and Suvarna at number three scored 47,679 GVTs.

     
    In the Telugu GEC space, Gemini became the chart leader with 108,013 GVTs followed by Maa TV with 95,444 GVTs and ETV at number three scored 82,710 GVTs.

     
    Lastly, in the Kerala region, Asianet scored the highest in the Malayalam category with 52,390 GVTs. Surya reported 13,104 GVTs and Asianet Plus garnered 5,170 GVTs.

    In the Bihar + Jharkhand region in the CS4+ market, Big Magic Ganga continued its numero uno position with 2,238 GVTs followed by Mahuaa Plus with 980 GVTs and at number three stood Anjan with 635 GVTs.

     

    In the Marathi general entertainment channel (GEC) space, Z Marathi topped the Maharashtra region with 146,467 GVTs followed by ETV Marathi at number two with 54,562 GVTs and Star Pravah at number three generated 54,060 GVTs.

     

    In the Bengali market, Star Jalsha continued to stay strong at number one position with 101,314 GVTs followed by Z Bangla at number two with 83,519 GVTs. ETV Bangla retained its number three position with 24,190 GVTs.

     

    On the other hand, in the Kannada market, Udaya stood at number one spot with 67,110 GVTs. ETV Kannada ranked second with 57,103 GVTs and Suvarna at number three scored 44,240 GVTs.

     

    In the Tamil GEC space, Sun TV continued to hold its numero uno position with 219,901 GVTs followed by Star Vijay with 110,276 GVTs and Z Tamil with 22,351 GVTs.

     

    In the Telugu GEC space, Gemini became the chart leader with 117,500 GVTs followed by Maa TV with 98,705 GVTs and ETV at number three scored 85,742 GVTs.

     

    Lastly, in the Kerala region, Asianet scored the highest in the Malayalam category with 52,644 GVTs. Surya reported 15,063 GVTs, whereas Asianet Plus garnered 6,029 GVTs.

    In the Bihar + Jharkhand region in the CS4+ market, Big Magic Ganga led the chart with 1,474 GVTs followed by Mahuaa Plus with 1,403 GVTs and Mahuaa at the number third spot with 654 GVTs.

     

    In the Marathi general entertainment channel (GEC) space, Z Marathi topped the Maharashtra region with 148,482 GVTs followed by ETV Marathi at number second position with 54,258 GVTs and Star Pravah registered the third spot with 52,933 GVTs.

     

    In the Bengali market, Star Jalsha continued to hold its number one position in the West Bengal market with 102,166 GVTs followed by Z Bangla with 95,472 GVTs and ETV Bangla at number three with 24,057 GVTs.

     

    In the Tamil GEC space, Sun TV continued its numero uno position with 212,433 GVTs followed by Star Vijay with 84,973 GVTs and Z Tamil ranked number three with 22,105 GVTs.

     

    Talking about the Kannada market, Udaya stood at number one spot with 72,311 GVTs. ETV Kannada ranked second with 55,425 GVTs and Suvarna at number three scored 43,958 GVTs.

     

    In the Telugu GEC space, Gemini becomes the chart leader with 109,721 GVTs followed by Maa TV with 101,083 GVTs and ETV at number three scored 86,429 GVTs.

     

    Lastly, in the Kerala region; Asianet scored the highest in the Malayalam category with 56,052 GVTs. Surya reported 15,079 GVTs and Asianet Plus garnered 6,449 GVTs.

    In the Marathi general entertainment channel (GEC) space, Z Marathi topped the Maharashtra region with 145,084 GVTs followed by Star Pravah at number second position with 56,548 GVTs. ETV Marathi stood third with 53,789 GVTs.

    In the Telugu GEC space, Gemini becomes the chart leader with 104,070 GVTs followed by Maa TV with 95,127 GVTs and ETV at number three scored 92,411 GVTs.

     Talking about the Karnataka region, Udaya stood at number one spot in the Kannada GEC space with 83990 GVTs. ETV Kannada ranked second with 52342 GVTs and Suvarna at number three scored 44211 GVTs.

     

    In the Telugu GEC space, Maa TV observed the top spot 106835 GVTs followed by Z Telugu with 91733 GVTs and Gemini at number three with 91093 GVTs.

     

     Lastly, in the Kerala region; Asianet scored the highest in the Malayalam category with 61112 GVTs. Mazhavil Manorama stood at number two with 17037 GVTs and Surya TV ranked number three with 16566 GVTs.

    In the Telugu GEC space, Gemini topped with 102,921 GVTs followed by Maa TV with 102,726 GVTs and Z Telugu with 98,764 GVTs.

    Lastly, in the Kerala region; Asianet continued its strong hold and scored 47,689 GVTs. Surya TV stood at number two with 13,544 GVTs and Mazhavil Manorama with 13,406 GVTs was third.
