    Rediffusion Y&R appoints Nilesh Vaidya as ECD

    MUMBAI: Nilesh Vaidya has moved on from Network Advertising where he was working as ECD to join Rediffusion Y&R as executive creative director.

    Based in Mumbai, Vaidya will report to Rediffusion Y&R NCD N Padmakumar

    Padmakumar has confirmed the development to Indiantelevision.com.

    Vaidya had joined Network Advertising in March 2011.

    He began his career in 1995 with Spear Advertising. He joined Euro RSCG as creative director and then moved up to become executive creative director and was also promoted to head the creative function in Mumbai in 2009.

    Prior to this, he has also worked with agencies like Lowe Lintas and Triton Communications.

    Lafarge awards creative duties to Rediffusion-Y&R

    MUMBAI: Rediffusion Y&R has won the creative duties of East Indian cement brand Lafarge India, following a multi-agency pitch..

    Ogilvy is the incumbent on the business.

    TME-MPG Combine, the media arm of Rediffusion-Y&R, handles the media duties for the brand.

    Lafarge India senior vice-president marketing Madhumita Basu said, “It‘s a challenging environment for the cement industry. We look forward to Rediffusion-Y&R bring in fresh ideas and market understanding that can help Lafarge India reach new heights.”

    The duties of the agency will include conceptualising ideas, creating a communication strategy and developing modules, designs and work plans to help Lafarge India enhance its communication.

    Rediffusion-Y&R president D Rajappa said, “We look forward to building and developing the brand further in India and partner the company to achieve its marketing goals.”

    Lafarge has three products — Lafarge Concreto, Lafarge Duraguard, and Lafarge PSC. The company also offers guidance to home builders through the Lafarge Home Building Centre.

    MUMBAI: Rediffusion-Y&R has won the digital account for telecom service brand MTS following a multi-agency pitch.

    The team will manage all digital brand communication: creative, online media and social media duties for the telecom company.

    Rediffusion-Y&R business head (digital), Rachana Dharia said, “Telecom provides immense opportunity to leverage the digital platform due to its direct engagement with customers and their relationship with communication.     Tarvinderjit Singh joins Rediffusion Y&R as creative head – copy

    MUMBAI: Rediffusion – Y & R has appointed Tarvinderjit Singh as creative head – copy at Delhi.

    Singh joins from TBWA, where he was the creative head. He will report to Rediffusion – Y & R, Delhi ECD Chraneeta Mann.

    In his 11 years of experience, Singh has worked for brands such as Perfetti, Coco-Cola, Nescafe, Mastercard, Thums-up, Unicef, General Motors (Chevrolet), LG, Samsung, Wrigley, Microsoft, Gillette, Metlife, Motorola, Airtel, Videocon, Dabur and Moser Baer.

    Singh has also worked as part of international teams on MasterCard, Gillette, Hitachi and Adidas.

    Mann said, “Tarvinder is a welcome addition to our creative team in Delhi. He is a seasoned writer and has a vast experience across many brands. He has done some particularly insightful work in the past and we hope to have him bring that same understanding of human insights into the work he does on LG.     Rediffusion – Y & R appoints Venugopal Chandrasekhar business head, Mumbai

    MUMBAI: Rediffusion – Y & R has appointed Venugopal Chandrasekhar as the business head, Mumbai.

    Chandrasekhar moves in from Bates 141 and has also worked with Contract Advertising and Brand David.

    Chandrasekhar has worked on brands such as Amul, Camlin, Philips Lighting, Bajaj Sunny Zip, Bajaj Auto, Asian Paints, ICICI Bank, VIP, Bharat Petroleum, Heinz, Shoppers’ Stop and LG Mobile Phones.

    Chandrasekhar was also involved in the launch of the English News channel CNN-IBN of the Network 18 Group. At Bates 141, he had been actively working on AIG Corporate, Tata AIG Life Insurance and AIG Mutual Funds. He also led the successful transition of Colgate into Bates and led the team on the Unilever Brand, Ayush.

    Mookherjee joins Rediffusion – Y&R Bangalore as branch head

    MUMBAI: Rediffusion – Y&R has appointed Indrajeet Mookerjee as branch head of Rediffusion – Y&R, Bangalore.

    Mookerjee moves in from Ogilvy & Mather, Bangalore, where he was working as senior vice president.

    Mookerjee has over 16 years experience in advertising with nearly seven years each at Ogilvy and Lowe, besides stints with McCann, Mudra and Euro RSCG.

    In the course of his recent tenure at Ogilvy Bangalore, Mookerjee has for three years served as office head of Meridian Communications, Ogilvy’s second agency. Having worked in Kolkata, Mumbai and Bangalore, he has over the years handled several major clients including Unilever (Kissan, Annapurna, Milkana, Anik), Nestle, ITC Foods, Balsara Home Products, JL Morrison and Johnson & Johnson.

    Rediffusion – Y&R COO – South & East Amitava Sinha says, “With Indrajeet coming on board, we now have a strong leadership in place in Bangalore which should help propel us to the next level.     LG Ad consolidates 50% of LGEIL’s creative biz

    MUMBAI: In a major move that would allow it to consolidate nearly 50 per cent of its creative business under its in-house ad agency, LG Electronics India‘s (LGEIL) has shifted its full home entertainment (HE) series to LG Ad.

    The business, which includes flat panel, colour televisions, home theaters and audio-visual products, has migrated from Rediffusion-Y&R. The flat panel segment will alone consume Rs 3 billion towards marketing across various platforms.

    Rediffusion-Y&R, however, retains the creative duties of LGEIL‘s corporate, home appliances and mobile accounts.

    LG Ad is already working on LGEIL‘s air-conditioner, water purifier and the entire below the line (BTL) businesses.

    LG Ad business head – vice president Nitin Makdani said, “Currently there are no promotion or campaigns going around the mobile and corporate accounts – once they get the limelight, we will be called to present our ideas and I am sure we will get those accounts as well.”

    Notably, the home appliances business, another major part of the LGEIL‘s ad business, is under review and the result is expected soon.

    Makdani, who heads the agency‘s office in India, is confident that they will get the account. “LG Ad is looking to consolidate the entire LGEIL business in India, before tapping outside business. We need to successfully execute our current businesses and then start looking for new clients,” he said.

    LGEIL chief marketing officer Lakshmikant Gupta said, “We will continue reviewing and both agencies will be actively asked to present their ideas for our various businesses in future.”

    GIIR, which holds LG AD, was incorporated into LG Group in 2008 and since then LG Ad has been in an expansion mode. The agency has also opened offices in the United States, Moscow, United Kingdom, and Beijing and will be opening in Dubai soon.

    India is one of the foremost markets for the agency, and since its inception in 2010, the agency has been adding LGEIL‘s various accounts to its kitty.

    In Korea, the agency handles the whole bunch of LG‘s businesses. The other clients are Korean Air, Korea Tourism Organization, Shinhan Card, GM Daewoo and Mercedes Benz.

    MUMBAI: Further ramping up its creative team, Rediffusion – Y & R has brought on board Prabhakar Jampa as creative head – design and digital.

    Jampa joins Rediffusion from iContract, where he was senior creative director. Based out of Mumbai, he will report to national creative director N Padmakumar.

    Jampa started his career with Karishma Advertising. After spending two years there, he moved on to Pressman. Maa Bozell followed immediately thereafter. He spent around one year in Result McCann before joining Wunderman. After a successful four-year stint with Wunderman, he joined Contract Advertising.

    Padmakumar said, “Prabhakar brings with him an amazing blend of classical fine art, sharp advertising thinking and a cutting edge understanding of new media, digital and otherwise. He‘s a great addition to the consortium of beautiful minds and genuine hearts we‘re attracting into Rediffusion – Y&R. We‘re thrilled to have him here with us.”

    Rediffusion – Y&R appoints Parag Shahane as creative head – art

    MUMBAI: Rediffusion – Y&R has further strengthened its creative team in Mumbai by hiring Parag Shahane as creative head – art department.

    Shahane will report to Rediffusion Y&R national creative director N Padmakumar.

    Shahane has previously worked with Mudra Communications, Lowe, FCB Ulka, Percept and Forefront. He also had an international stint with JWT Colombo for a span of three years.

    Rediffusion – Y&R VP Neville Medhora said, “Parag brings a lot of energy and passion in to our Mumbai team. His cross-category experience will surely add a lot of value to our clients’ brands. I am confident that Parag will continue to carve out some great work and add value to our clients.”

    Shahane started his career with Forefront Advertising in Mumbai and later moved to FCB Ulka. After a two-stint at FCB Ulka, Shahane joined Lowe, from where he moved to Sri Lanka to join JWT Colombo.

    Shahane returned to India three years later and joined Percept H. After working for close to three years at the agency, he moved Mudra in August 2007 and worked there for over three years.

    Shahane stated, “The scope of work that most of Rediff’s brands have to offer is remarkable. They have built some great iconic brands and continue to partner them in their journey.     Gautam Talwar to replace Arvind Mohan as chief strategy officer for Rediffusion – Y & R

    MUMBAI: Rediffusion Y&R has promoted Gautam Talwar as its chief strategy officer He takes over as head of the strategic planning function from Arvind Mohan who has decided to move on.

    Talwar joined Rediffusion – Y&R in April 2010 as executive vice president–new business development and special projects. He brings to the table more than 14 years of experience in the advertising and entertainment space.
     
    Rediffusion – Y&R president D. Rajappa said, “Gautam has been instrumental in leading the new business mandate at Rediffusion – Y&R. He is a Thinker and a New Media proponent who is well versed in brand strategy across different markets, with cross category experience amongst varied consumer segments.”

    On his new assignment Talwar said, “Rediffusion – Y&R has always been respected for its commitment to building great brands. With this opportunity I hope to leverage my strategic strengths and build further on this legacy by creating meaningful communication that will deliver on brand objectives and create campaigns that will work for our clients and the agency.”

    Prior to joining Rediffusion, Talwar was the creative and business head for Kaleidoscope Entertainment where he set up the mobile content division, developed original concepts and content for television and the mobile space. He was also the executive producer on two full length feature films.

    Starting his career with Grey Worldwide, Talwar then moved to Lowe in account management and strategic planning.
     
     
    At Grey, he worked on cross category brands like Johnson & Johnson, Cadbury Schweppes, Tropicana, Diageo, Emirates Airlines, Akai TV, TataTetley, Elf Lubricants and The Bombay Store.

    He spent three years with Lowe & Partners – Middle East and North Africa (Dubai) as the regional account director on the Unilever business. At Lowe Dubai, he worked on Fair & Lovely, Lifebuoy, OMO, Rexona & Axe, Lux Progress, Signal and was the strategic planner for the juice brand in MENA – Almarai juices.
     
    In his five years at Lowe Mumbai, he was the strategic planner on the skin and hair franchise for Unilever, planning on brands such as Fair& Lovely and Clinic franchise. He was also the planning force behind the very successful Balbir Pasha campaign for Population Services International.
