    Mumbai: TAM India has released a quarterly advertising report on GEC channel genre for Jul-Sept’23.

    Television ad volumes in the GEC genre showed a steady four per cent increase during both the periods of Apr-Jun’23 and Jul-Sept’23 when compared to Jan-Mar’23. Additionally, Jul-Sept’23 saw a one per cent rise compared to Jul-Sept’22 in the GEC genre.

    Food & beverages, personal care/personal hygiene and household products sectors maintained their rankings as first and second and third respectively, during Jul-Sept’23 compared to Apr-Jun’23. ‘Banking/Finance/Investment’ and ‘Babycare’ emerged as newcomers in the top 10 list of sectors during Jul-Sept’23, surpassing their positions in Apr-Jun’23. Together, the top 10 sectors accounted for 94 per cent of the ad volumes during Jul-Sept’23.

    The toilet soaps category maintained its leading position, securing nine per cent of ad volumes during Jul-Sept’23 as it did in Apr-Jun’23. Additionally, toothpastes, biscuits, and chocolates preserved their rankings at fifth, eighth, and ninth places, respectively, in Jul-Sept’23 compared to Apr-Jun’23. Collectively, the top 10 categories contributed 43 per cent of ad volumes in Jul-Sept’23. Among these, mosquito repellents emerged as the sole new entry in the top 10 list of categories during Jul-Sept’23 when compared to Apr-Jun’23.

    Hindustan Unilever and Reckitt Benckiser (India) retained their first and second positions during Q’1, Q’2 and Q’3 of Y 2023. Together, the top 10 advertisers contributed 66 per cent share of ad volumes in Jul-Sept’23.

    In Jul-Sept’23, Britannia Industries was the only new entrant in the top 10 list of advertisers.

    Dettol Toilet Soaps ascended to first position in Jul-Sept’23 compared to its seventh position in Apr-Jun’23. The top 10 brands together covered 12 per cent share of ad volumes in Jul-Sept’23. Lifebouy Toilet Soap, Horlicks and Clinic Plus.

    The ‘Ecom-Online Shopping’ category experienced the highest surge in ad secondages, boasting an 83 per cent increase in television advertising for GEC genre. Among the top 10 categories, Diapers exhibited the most substantial growth percentage, skyrocketing fourfold during Jul-Sept’23.

    Shampoo were the new entrants in the top 10 brands list in Jul-Sept’23 over Apr-Jun’23. Out of the top 10 brands, four of them belonged to Reckitt Benckiser (India) and six belonged to Hindustan Unilever in Jul-Sept’23.

    In Jul-Sept’23, Hindi GEC maintained its leading position, claiming a 24 per cent share of ad volumes compared to Apr-Jun’23. The top five channel subgenres collectively represented 68 per cent of ad volumes during Jul-Sept’23.

    Mumbai: TAM India has released an advertising report on TV news channel for Jul-Sept’23.

    Television ad volumes in news genre witnessed growth in both Apr-Jun’23 and Jul-Sept’23 by seven per cent and one per cent respectively compared to Jan-Mar’23. Whereas, news genre observed de-growth in ad volumes in Jul-Sept’23 by seven per cent compared to Jul-Sept’22.

    Services and food & beverages sectors retained their first and second positions during Jul-Sept’23 compared to Apr-Jun’23. ‘Banking/Finance/Investment’ was the only new entrant in top 10 list of sectors during Jul-Sept’23 over Apr-Jun’23. The top 10 sectors together added 80 per cent share of ad volumes during Jul-Sept’23.

    During Jul-Sept’23, cars ascended to first position with five per cent share of ad volumes compared to its third position in Apr-Jun’23. Toilet soaps, corporate/brand image and tooth pastes were the entrants in the top 10 categories list during Jul-Sept’23 over Apr-Jun’23. Together, the top 10 categories added 27 per cent share of ad volumes in Jul-Sept’23.  Retail outlets – Jewellers descended to second position in Jul-Sept’23 compared to their first position in Apr-Jun’23.

    Reckitt Benckiser (India) was the leading advertiser in Jul-Sept’23 with seven per cent share of ad volumes. Also, Hindustan Unilever, SBS Biotech and Amazon Online India retained their second, sixth and tenth position during Jul-Sept’23 compared to Apr-Jun’23.  The top 10 advertisers collectively added 24 per cent share of ad volumes in Jul-Sept’23. During Jul-Sept’23, Life Insurance Corporation of India was the only new entrant in the top 10 advertisers list compared to Apr-Jun’23.

    During Jul-Sept’23, 4.5K plus brands were present on television advertising for news genre. Compared to Apr-Jun’23, Dettol Toilet Soaps, Policybazaar.Com and LIC-Corporate were new entrants in the top 10 brand list during Jul-Sept’23. Lalithaa Jewellery retained its first position during Jul-Sept’23 compared to Apr-Jun’23. Out of the top 10 brands, three of them belonged to Reckitt Benckiser (India) in Jul-Sept’23.

    ‘Mortgage Loans’ category saw highest increase in ad secondages with growth of 55 per cent on television advertising for the news genre. In terms of growth percentage among top 10 categories, Cellular Phones-Smart Phones witnessed highest growth of five times during Jul-Sept’23.

    During Jul-Sept’23, ‘Hindi News’ was the leading subgenre for advertising on news genre with 17 per cent share of ad volumes. The top five channel subgenres accounted for 54 per cent share of ad volumes during Jul-Sept’23.

    Mumbai: TAM AdEx has released a quarterly report on television advertising for Jul – Sep’23.

    Ad volumes on television advertising witnessed growth of five per cent in Apr-Jun’23 and one per cent growth in Jul-Sep’23 compared to Jan-Mar’23. Also, Jul-Sept’23 observed a degrowth of four per cent in TV ad volumes compared to Jul-Sep’22.

    Food & beverages retained its top position compared to Apr-Jun’23; the auto sector observed a positive rank shift. Banking/finance/investment entered the top 10 list of sectors during Jul-Sep’23 compared to Apr-Jun’23. The top 10 sectors together added 89 per cent share of ad volumes in Jul-Sep’23.

    The top 10 categories collectively added 33 per cent share of ad volumes on television advertising during Jul-Sep’23. During Jul-Sep’23, biscuits, tea and mosquito repellents were the new entrants in the top 10 list of categories compared to Apr-Jun’23. Washing powder/liquids, milk beverages, and shampoos observed a positive rank shift in Jul-Sep’23 compared to Apr-Jun’23.

    Hindustan Unilever and Reckitt Benckiser (India) retained their first and second positions during Q’1, Q’2 and Q’3 of Y 2023. During Jul-Sep’23, the top 10 advertisers contributed 49 per cent share of ad volumes on TV advertising. Britannia Industries and Nestle India entered the top 10 list during Jul-Sept’23 and secured ninth and tenth positions compared to their 14th and 13th positions respectively in Apr-Jun’23.

    In Jul-Sep’23, the top 10 brands together accounted for 10 per cent share of ad volumes on television advertising. Out of the top 10 brands present in Jul-Sep’23, five of them belonged to Reckitt Benckiser (India) and four belonged to Hindustan Unilever. Also, five of the top 10 brands belonged to personal care/personal hygiene sector during Jul-Sep’23.

    Milk beverages saw highest increase in ad volumes resulting in 30 per cent growth during Jul-Sep’23 compared to Apr-Jun’23 followed by ecom-online shopping with 76 per cent growth.

    Compared to Jan-Mar’23, GEC and movies genre witnessed minor rise in percentage share of ad volumes in Jul-Sep’23. Whereas, news and kids genre’s share was maintained throughout all three quarters. The top five genre together contributed more than 90 per cent share of ad volumes in each of the Q’1, Q’2 and Q’3 of Y 2023.

    Mumbai: On Wednesday, TAM AdEx released a television advertising quarterly report from July to September 2022. According to the report, the TV ad volume increased by two per cent for the same period over January to March 2022 and by four per cent over April to June 2022.

    The top three industries of advertising on television maintained their ranks during the period as compared to April to June’ 22.

    According to the report, food & beverage (F&B) topped with 21 per cent, while auto registered the highest positive shift in ranking, i.e., from 13th to ninth. Household products and education were among the other industries with positive rank shifts. Personal healthcare was the only sector among the top 10 to move down in rank, the report added.

    From July to September 22, the top ten categories added a 29 percent share of ad volumes.

    Mosquito repellents and ecommerce (online shopping) were the new entrants in the top 10 list. Shampoo moved down from third place in April to June’22 to ninth place in July to September ’22.

    FMCG players ruled the list of the top 10 advertisers, with Reckitt leading the list. HUL, Reckitt, and Brooke Bond remained the top three advertisers, with Reckitt replacing HUL in the top position from July to September’22.

    For the current period, the top 10 advertisers together contributed 40 per cent of ad volumes. Six out of the top 10 brands were from Reckitt Benckiser.

    The top 10 brands added 11 per cent to the total TV ad volumes from July to September ’22.

    Procter & Gamble home products and Colgate Palmolive India were the new entrants in the top 10 list.

    Adding to this, July to September ’22 had the highest number of brands compared to the previous two quarters.

    In terms of categories, toilet soaps topped the list with the highest growth in ad secondages in July to September ’22 vs. April to June’22 i.e. 1.5 times, while mosquito repellents witnessed the highest growth per cent, i.e. 2.2 times, in comparison to April to June’22.

    News and GEC (general entertainment channels) were the most popular genres on television, with more than 55 per cent of ad volumes. When compared to the previous two quarters, the volume share of news ads decreased from July to September 22.

    The top five genres contributed 90 per cent to the total TV advertising volumes in the first three quarters of 2022.

    Hindi news tops news genre’s ad volumes in H1 FY’22: TAM Media report

    Mumbai: TAM media research’s subdivision AdEx India has released the half-yearly report for advertising in the new genre. According to recent data, Hindi news tops with more than 20 per cent share for ad volumes in H1 FY ’22, and observed indexed growth of 33 per cent.

    As per the data recorded last year for the same period, ad volumes grew by 33 per cent as compared to H1 FY ’20 and five per cent growth was reported as compared to H1 FY 2021. The month of March 2022 saw the highest ad volume share of 19.5 per cent.

    H1 FY ’20 saw the highest share of ad volumes, that is, 31 per cent followed by H1 FY’22 and H1 FY ’21 with 28 per cent share each.

    The prime time slot is the most preferred band, followed by the afternoon and morning in the news genre, and during H1 FY ’21 and H1 FY ’22, for each slot Hindi news topped with a 20 per cent share of ad volumes.

    Three out of the top five subgenres, which include Hindi news, Bengali news, Tamil news, Telugu news, and others, have retained their ranks in H1 FY ’22. During H1 FY ’21 and H1 FY ’22, the top five subgenres accounted for more than 55 per cent of the ad volume.

    The number of news genre categories increased by four per cent in H1 FY ’22 as compared to H1 FY ’21. The spices category led with a three per cent share of ad volume in H1 FY ’22.

    The top ten list included two categories each from the food & beverage, building, industrial, and land materials/equipment industries.

    Corporate/brand image, range of OTC products, building materials/systems, and pan masala were the new entrants among the top 10, out of which seven categories observed positive rank shifts.

    The service industry topped with a 17 per cent share of the news genre’s ad volumes, followed by F&B with 14 per cent.

    Corporate/brand image saw the highest increase in ad seconds with 74 per cent, followed by ecom-gaming three times during H1 FY ’22 as compared to H1 FY ’21.

    In terms of growth per cent among the top 10 categories, vocational training institutes topped with the highest growth of 3.9 times, followed by face wash with 3.2 growth.

    Reckitt Benckiser, GCMMF (Amul), and LIC were the top three advertisers in H1 FY’22. Ultratech Cement, Mahashiya Di Hatti, and Think & Learn were the new entrants among the top 10. Ultratech Cement moved up by 24 positions to achieve the seventh rank.

    Roop Mantra cucumber herbal face wash and Lizol All-in-One are the latest brands in the list, with Hari Bhoomi Communications being the top exclusive advertiser, followed by ITV Network.

    The report further mentioned that in H1 FY ’22, 20 to 40 seconds witnessed a 10 per cent growth in ad volumes compared to H1 FY ’21. Advertising commercials of 20 to 40 seconds were most preferred for advertising on news channels during both periods.

    More than 3,200 advertisers advertised exclusively in the news genre from H1 FY ’22. 2,800 plus advertisers & 4.5K+ brands exclusively advertised in the news genre during Jan-Jun’22. Playgames 24×7 and Roop Mantra Cucumber Herbal Face Wash were the top exclusive advertisers and brands, respectively, during H1 FY ’22 compared to H1 FY ’21.

    Mumbai: After lagging behind Reckitt Benckiser (RB) for two consecutive weeks, Hindustan Lever Ltd (HUL) has regained the top position in the first week of 2022. According to data released by Broadcast Audience Research Council (Barc), HUL delivered ad volumes of 4551.67 for the period of 1-7 January.

    The FMCG giant was the consistent top performer in 2021. It was trumped by RB in the last two weeks of the year by huge margins. While RB was at 3005.75 in week 52 (25-31 December 2021), HUL’s score was 1914.69. The corresponding figures for week 51 were 3322.98 (RB) and 2059.20 (HUL).

    Coming back to this week, RB was at the second position once again with 3022.09 ad volumes. At 1160.97 (‘000s) Ponds India was third.

    Brooke Bond Lipton India, Cadburys India, Procter & Gamble, Godrej Consumer Products, ITC Ltd., Amazon Online India, and Colgate Palmolive India were at the No. four to ten.

    Among the brands, Harpic Power Plus 10X Max Clean led the list with ad volumes of 608.55. It was followed by Dettol Antiseptic Liquid (550.43) and Horlicks (356.19) in the second and third positions.

    The remaining slots were grabbed by Dettol Toilet Soaps, Lizol All in 1, Clinic Plus Shampoo, Harpic Bathroom Cleaner, Vanish Oxi Action, Ultratech Cement and Almond Board of California (new entrant).

    Mumbai: Online food business company Otipy on Wednesday announced the appointment of Pranit Arora as senior vice president – growth and marketing.

    In his new role, Arora will be responsible for rapidly growing the network of community leaders, consumers and strengthening Otipy’s growth/marketing playbook which will be implemented across multiple geographies within the country, said the company in a statement.

    Arora has close to a decade of experience in leadership roles across growth and marketing with companies like Reckitt Benckiser, OYO, and GoMechanic.

    Otipy’s founder & CEO Varun Khurana said, “We are in a rapid scale-up phase and plan to double up our community leader base within this year. With Pranit’s rich leadership experience both in startups as well as MNCs we believe he is perfectly suited for driving this goal.”

    Mumbai: Continuing with last week’s trend, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. maintained its position as the top advertiser across genres during BARC week 28 (10 July – 16 July). The recorded ad volume, however, fell from 4893.09 (‘000 sec) in week 27 to 4450.14 (‘000 sec).

    HUL was followed by Reckitt Benckiser (India) ltd. with ad volume of 3721.89 (‘000sec). The figure stood at 4180.54 in week 27.

    The top two advertisers were followed by Amazon Online India, Godrej Consumer Products, Cadburys India, Brooke Bond Lipton India, Procter & Gamble, Coca Cola India, Pepsi Co, and Colgate Palmolive India, in that order.

    Wipro and Ponds India which held the seventh and ninth position in week 27 went off the list making way for Procter & Gamble and Coca Cola India at number seven and eight, respectively.

    Among the brands, RB’s Dettol held onto the top slot with ad volume of 700.86 (‘000sec), as against 754.83 (‘000sec) in week 27. Thums Up made its way to the second position clocking ad volume of 547.24 (‘000 sec). The beverage brand from Coca Cola India was not on the top-ten list last week. 

    Dettol and Thums Up were followed by Amazon.in, Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University, Vimal Elaichi Pan Masala, Dettol Toilet Soaps, Veet Cold Wax Strip, Horlicks, Close Up Ever Fresh, and Lizol. 

  • Gaurav Jain elevated as head of Reckitt India

    Mumbai: In a top deck restructuring, Reckitt India has elevated Gaurav Jain as the head of the hygiene unit, along with the health unit. Jain has been heading its health unit in India since 2017. 

    Accordingly, this new development makes him the chief of the company’s India business. Jain has been named senior VP, South Asia, with all business units across the region reporting to him.

    “Our health and hygiene business units have been brought under one focused leadership team. Gaurav Jain is the senior vice president, South Asia for Reckitt,” said a Reckitt India spokesperson, confirming the top management rejig.

    “Health and hygiene business units have been brought under one focused leadership team, to optimise the potential of the complementary nature of products spread over the Dettol, Lysol, and Harpic businesses,” said the spokesperson.

    This focused approach will help enhance synergies, align business strategy & execution consequently improving performance, she further added.

    Reckitt’s health unit houses brands such as Dettol, Veet, Durex, Strepsils, while its hygiene home business includes Harpic, Lysol, Mortein, and more.

    However, the spokesperson for the conglomerate clarified that the health and hygiene business units have not merged and will be operated independently. “This focused approach will help enhance synergies, align business strategy and execution,” she said.

    NEW DELHI: The Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) of India has released its data for top advertisers and brands for the period between 3 April and 9 April 2021.

    The data reflects the top 10 advertisers and brands across genres on India’s television, 2+ Individuals, NCCS. All demonstrating ads that were inserted the most in week 14 of 2021.

    Top advertisers:

    Reckitt continued its run as the biggest advertiser of the week with 247483 ad AMA. HUL came in second with 225461 insertions.

    Cadburys bagged the third rank this time with 42088 ad generations. Brooke Bond placed fourth with 37982 ad insertions.

    Lakme and Pepsi Co secured fifth and sixth place with 28032 and 27096 ad views respectively.

    Other top brands in the pecking order were as follows: Godrej Consumer Products, Ponds India, P&G, and Colgate.

    Top brands:

    This week Lizol led the chart with 22833 ad impressions. Dettol Antiseptic Liquid came in second with 22334 ad views. Dettol Toilet Soaps secured the third position with 21780 ad insertions.

    The fourth and fifth spots were acquired by PolicyBazaar and Dettol Intense Cool Soap with 19683 and 15902 ad AMA respectively.

    Dettol Liquid Soap bagged the sixth spot with 12858 ad views.

    Other top brands in the pecking order were as follows: Lalithaa Jewellery, Harpic Bathroom Cleaner, Dermi Cool, and Clinic Plus Shampoo.
