    Zonemedia to take on management of Extreme Sports Channel

    MUMBAI: Global media firm Chellomedia has consolidated its multi-territory thematic channel business by transferring the Extreme Sports Channel to Zonemedia (formerly Zone Vision Networks).

    Zonemedia has over the years consolidated its reputation for launching and delivering thematic channels and the move is seen as a natural progression for the well established channel. Its channel Reality TV is distributed in India by Zee Turner.

    The Extreme Sports Channel will continue to excite viewers with action, from surfing to skateboarding, snowboarding to BMX, and Moto X to mountain biking. Zonemedia says that its acquisitions team is committed to continued investment in high end programming.

    It is anticipated that the move will see Zonemedia enhance the channel’s international brand profile by offering cross promotional opportunities through its other channels and further drive audience market share. The transfer, which takes operational effect immediately, will also offer day to day efficiencies.

    One of the world’s most recognized television brands, the Extreme Sports Channel will keep its current name and identity. The transfer will complement Zonemedia’s existing portfolio of highly successful thematic channels

    MTV launches dating-reality show ‘Gehre Pyaar pe Laath’

    MUMBAI: MTV India is no stranger to reality shows. This time round the music network has launched a dating-reality show Gehre Pyaar pe Laath (G.P.L).

    The network has adapted and localised the international format show Dismissed, which aired on MTV Networks International. Launched on 28 October, G.P.L airs at 6:30 pm.

    Each episode of G.P.L opens up with three people i.e. two guys and a girl or vice versa who go out and spend an entire day together. Starting out as a blind date with a twist, wherein addition to meeting the date, the contestants also meet their rivals, informs an official release.

    The mission for the two, in a nutshell, is to destroy the rivals date but ensure that your own date goes smoothly. And as the day unfolds the two guys or the two girls turn on their charm to woo their date. From destinations like amusement parks, arcades and even a sophisticated dinner, the date tests a variety of emotions and bonds. Each episode ends with the wooed choosing just one wooer as his/her final date. For the wooer that wasn’t selected, he/she goes home with a grand G.P.L, states the release.

    MTV India VP GM creative and content Ashish Patil said, “Romance, reality, double the number of people you take on a date… and guaranteed double the fun! With a name as provocative as G.P.L., you know it’s going to be one wicked show that only MTV would dare to air.”

    Reality TV to be renamed Zone Reality

    MUMBAI: Entertainment firm Zone Vision Networks has announced a new global brand for the company’s corporate identity and its channels.

    The company will introduce an umbrella brand, Zonemedia, on 26 June. New logos and names for the company’s six thematic channels will also be rolled out.

    Reality TV, which is distributed in India by Zee Turner will be renamed Zone Reality. Romantica becomes Zone Romantica, Club becomes Zone Club, The Horror Channel becomes Zone Horror and Europa Europa becomes Zone Europa.

    Zone Vision chairman Chris Wronski says, “Our new look reflects the developments that have taken place in the business in recent years, which encompass the launch of new satellite TV channels, as well as web and Wap sites. Viewers will continue to enjoy the distinctive programming they have come to expect from their favourite Zonemedia channels.”

    Branding and communication agency Kemistry created the network’s new identity. The modern look and feel provides a cohesive identity across Zonemedia’s growing portfolio of thematic channels.

    MUMBAI: Reality TV will air shows on real people with true stories this month.

    The line up includes Daring Capers, Patient Files, Campus Vets, Dr G and Exhibit A.

    Patient Files is a dramatic documentary series that explores the world of an emerging generation of medical pioneers and their patients. The stories are set in North America’s renowned Sunnybrook & Women’s College Hospital, one of the first hospitals in the world geared towards the research and treatment of women’s health.

    Each episode will feature patients as they make critical journeys from illness to recovery – all at the hands of courageous and compassionate medical teams dedicated to women’s medicine.     Ford targets automobile enthusiasts with new reality TV show

    MUMBAI: Ford Motor Company has announced its plans to produce a TV competition on the theme of designing a dream car. As per the concept, the reality show participants will work on developing a concept car with Ford designers.

    Ford officials have been quoted in media reports as saying that the TV show will be shopped around in the hope of landing on a major TV network.

    The company also launched a promotional video of the show. Ad agency J. Walter Thompson has designed the video.
    The automobile major is one of two principal sponsors of the Fox’s American Idol reality show.

    MUMBAI: Reality TV has announced that it will air a host of shows this month like Campus Vets, Raising Rover, Dr G, Eye for An Eye and Matchmaker. The first two shows are dedicated to animals.

    Campus Vets tells the stories of student veterinarians a veterinary school in Canada. This series showcases Canada’s young vets in training, as they pursue demanding careers of immense responsibility. Shot at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine’s Teaching Hospital – a 24-hour facility – the young vets discover that learning to save the lives of animals is the challenge of a lifetime. Campus Vets chronicles moments where animal owner and are bound together in a race against time.

    American forensic pathologist Dr. Jan Garavaglia, takes viewers on an unprecedented look behind-the scenes at the world of science, mystery and justice in Dr G: Medical Examiner. Each programme features examinations of several deaths, including actual autopsies and exploring the investigative process.
    Caising Rover is a programme showing the rise in social status of dogs in a critical and engaging way. It explores the high-end dog designer business and looks at how this new class of canines is being indulged in ways once unimaginable.

    Eye for an Eye offers a twist on popular courtroom drama. It captures the essence of justice and puts punishment front and centre. Reality TV says that the show is a non-traditional, no-nonsense, no-holds-barred spectacle of trial and punishment. Eye for an Eye features Judge Extreme Akim, sentencing his litigants to “paybacks”. The programme promises to be witness to a diverse mix of cases all unravelling in the courtroom followed by consummation in a real world punishment phase.

    Matchmaker is all about friends hooking up friends on dates. It starts by tracking down someone special, facilitating a pre-date makeover or even sending them to a dominatrix if the matchmaker thinks their friend needs to be more assertive.

    Viewers to help Donald Trump to decide on his next ‘Apprentice’

    MUMBAI: For the first time in the history of US broadcaster NBC’s business based reality show The Apprentice, fans will have the opportunity to advise Trump on who he should select to be the next Apprentice.

    NBC has announced that in the penultimate week, viewers will be able to vote for one of the final two candidates via phone and on-line at www.NBC.com. The results of America’s favourite candidate will be presented to Trump during the live finale before he makes his final decision.

    www.NBC.com is hosting an ongoing weekly poll where viewers can vote for their favourite candidate and track their weekly progress.

    Trump says, “I am very anxious to see who the fans choose for their favourite finalist — their decision could have a big effect on my ultimate decision”.

    Reality TV guru Mark Burnett who created the show says, “Over the past four seasons of The Apprentice, Donald Trump has used the final episode to hire candidates with advice only from George and Carolyn . This year we thought it would be interesting to discover what America has to say about the candidates, incorporating our fans and viewers as virtual judges. While Trump will still be the final arbiter of who he hires, America’s feedback is certain to have an impact on his decision.”

    The episode on 3 April follows Gold Rush and Synergy as they take on the music world to write an original jingle for the popular restaurant chain Arby’s. Judged by Arby’s executives, the team with the most effective but creative jingle wins. The winning team enjoys a scrumptious reward and the losers face the music in the boardroom.
