  • Crest in class Real Madrid’s 2025 kit is piping hot and Bernabéu bold

Crest in class Real Madrid’s 2025 kit is piping hot and Bernabéu bold

MUMBAI: A royal refresh is underway at the Bernabéu this time, in fabric. Adidas and Real Madrid have unveiled the 2025–26 Home Jersey, and it’s a sleek nod to the club’s illustrious past and future ambitions stitched together with precision, pride and a touch of metallic magic.

Designed to celebrate the evolution of the Santiago Bernabéu, the kit is as much a tribute to architecture as it is to footballing legacy. Featuring metallic detailing and subtle textures, the jersey draws from both the old and new elements of the iconic stadium, creating a modern silhouette with historical soul.

And while the classic all-white palette remains untouched, it’s the yellow piping drawn from the club crest that delivers a bold pop of identity. It’s Real Madrid through and through, just with sharper tailoring.

Topping off the look is a clean crew-neck collar, paired with bespoke ribbed cuffs, and finished with white shorts and socks trimmed in dark grey for a full kit that says: regal, but ready for war.

Performance hasn’t taken a back seat either. The on-field version of the kit uses the latest adidas innovation to maximise airflow, while the fan edition is built with sweat-wicking tech to keep things cool in the stands or on the pitch.

Available now, the authentic player jersey is priced at Rs 8,599, while the replica home kit retails at Rs 5,999. Both can be snapped up at adidas stores, Real Madrid outlets, and select retail partners across India.

With the Bernabéu as its muse and modern design in its seams, this kit doesn’t just wear history, it plays it forward.

  • Dazn to live broadcast Fifa Club World Cup ’25 for free globally

Dazn to live broadcast Fifa Club World Cup ’25 for free globally

MUMBAI: Here’s even more good news for football fans. There’s more football fever being kicked into your living rooms to cheer for until you are hoarse.

The international football federation Fifa has signed up with streamer Dazn making it the exclusive global broadcaster of the FiFa Club World Cup 2025. Under the agreement, the tournament which will see 32 clubs from all over the world fighting it out for the trophy over 63 matches is to be live streamed on Dazn free globally in multiple languages, and includes the possibility of sub-licensing to local free to air linear broadcast networks.

The Fifa Club  World Cup 2025, which was launched in 2000, but had gone through a bumpy ride in certain years, was  converted into a quadrennial competition (starting 2025) when it was last held in 2023. The teams are drawn into eight groups of four, with each team playing three group stage matches in a round-robin format. The top two teams from each group advance to the knockout stage, starting with the round of 16 and culminating with the final.

In its previous avatar when it was an annual competition, Real Madrid emerged as the winner on five occasions, Spanish teams have won the tournament eight times. The current champions are Manchester City which held the trophy aloft in 2023.

The agreement to hold the exclusive global broadcast rights to the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 marks the start of a broader partnership between Dazn and Fifa. This includes integrating Fifa+,   Fifa’s library of iconic football moments and full-match replays, as well as live fixtures, into the Dazn platform.

The partnership begins with the draw of the Fifa Club World Cup which will be broadcast live on Dazn on 5 December. The 32 participating clubs will discover their group-stage opponents in a live studio event that will kick off at 13:00 EST/18:00 GMT/19:00 CET. The Fifa  Club World Cup 2025, which kicks off on Sunday 15 June 2025 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami will have matches being played in 12 venues across the US over a 29-day period, culminating with the final at MetLife Stadium, New York New Jersey on Sunday, 13 July 2025.

Making a top club competition freely available to every single fan globally, the ground breaking partnership combines Dazn’s unique expertise and vision for the future with Fifa’s commitment to making football truly global, claims a press release issued by the two.

It also helps that the Fifa Club World Cup has finally found a home as this will help the football federation rope in sponsors. Reports say that the clubs have been asking for $50 million per head to participate ; so far it has managed to sign up Chinese electronics firm Hi-sense, Anheuser Busch (AB InBev) and Bank of America as sponsors.  Additionally, reports say that the deal between Dazn and Fifa is valued at about $1 billion, though no financial terms were disclosed.

“I am delighted to announce that Fifa, in partnership with Dazn and Fifa+, will bring the best of club football for free to everywhere in the world, meaning that every single football fan across the globe can watch the best players from the 32 best clubs compete in the new Fifa Club World Cup to be the first official Fifa Club World Champions’,” said Fifa president Gianni Infantino “The new Fifa Club World Cup is a merit-based, inclusive tournament that will be the pinnacle of global club football, capturing the imagination of players and fans across the world. Through this broadcasting agreement, billions of football fans worldwide can now watch what will be the most widely accessible club football tournament ever – and for free. Football Unites the World.”

Added Dazn chief executive officer Shay Segev: “This groundbreaking deal with Fifa is a major milestone in Dazn’s journey to be the ultimate entertainment platform of choice for sports fans everywhere. We’re delighted to have the exclusive rights to this new chapter in global club football, marking the start of our long-term relationship with FIFA and cementing our status as the home of football. Dazn is the only sports streaming platform that has a truly global reach, with world-leading technology and a single-minded focus to deliver the very best digital experience for all sports fans. We’re committed to ensuring that every fan can watch every moment of the thrilling action from this new prime club tournament.”

Dazn – a fully interactive and immersive platform  – enables fans to watch, play, buy and connect, all in one place and with a single account. It is available on all connected devices, including smart TVs, smartphones, tablets and game consoles. It has a large portfolio of sports  rights and  that includes the world’s most prestigious leagues. Its content is watched by over 300 million viewers in more than 200 markets. It is normally charges a subscription fee for premium sports tournaments.

A detractor says that Dazn and Fifa have taken the decision to stream the Fifa Club World Cup for free as the tournament is working on gaining prestige amongst football fans. As well as advertisers.

“It does  not have the respectability of the La Liga or the EPL. In its annual avatar it did not get even a fraction of the eyeballs the EPL does. Hence by streaming it for free, both Fifa and Dazn are hoping it will grow on football fans,” says a football rights expert.

The critics can carp from the sidelines, but with both Fifa and Dazn working in tandem, the Fifa Club World Cup 2025 could well end scoring well with viewers. And come out a winner!

  • adidas and Real Madrid reveal white home kit rooted in tradition for 2024/25

adidas and Real Madrid reveal white home kit rooted in tradition for 2024/25

Mumbai – adidas has unveiled the new Real Madrid CF home kit for the 2024/25 campaign, a predominantly white look with subtle detailing, representing the cleanest home kit design in recent memory.

A crisp white kit has been a trademark look of the club throughout its decorated history; a look adored by the Madridistas and worn by some of the greatest players to ever step onto a football pitch.  Now, welcoming a new age of exciting talent, the 2024/25 design is stripped back to the roots of the club, with a minimalistic look that speaks to the long-lasting legacy and love all those associated with the club, have for the color white.

The crafting of the jersey further binds the new kit to the club’s DNA, by incorporating a bespoke houndstooth pattern using the initials ‘RM’ throughout the design.  adidas utilised a 3D engineering method to construct the jersey in three levels, subtly imbuing the shirt with a layered RM pattern, creating a textured look and feel to add depth and intrigue.

Rounding off the design is a seasonal V-neck collar and minimal black detailing woven through the adidas logo on the shirt, shorts, socks, shirt sponsors and the famous three stripes, which run down the shoulders of the shirt.

adidas SVP of Product & Design Sam Handy said: “Over the past 26 years, we’ve been honoured to reimagine the classic white strip of Real Madrid and create iconic looks that will forever be attached to the success of the club.  Regardless of what that final design is for each season, we always stay true to the core DNA of Real Madrid. So, for this season’s home kit, we’ve gone back through the archive and reintroduced it to a new generation of fans and players, creating one of the cleanest looks in recent memory.”

Crafted for performance and to help provide world-class players with the confidence to play under pressure, the lightweight jerseys feature the latest in adidas technology which has been created in close collaboration with players throughout the development process.

The on-field version of the jersey is constructed with HEAT.RDY technology, using advanced materials to maximize air flow to keep players feeling cool, while the fan version features AEROREADY technology, which uses sweat-wicking or absorbent materials to keep the body feeling dry.

  • Y-3 and Real Madrid present their Collaborative Matchwear Collection

Y-3 and Real Madrid present their Collaborative Matchwear Collection

Mumbai: Having launched a collaborative travel collection earlier this year, two titans, on and off the pitch, come together once again as Y-3 and Real Madrid present their collaborative Matchwear collection.

In a fusion of elegance and tradition, Y-3 and Real Madrid’s new premium range brings together fashion and the pinnacle of sport. The aesthetic vision centers on a signature rose motif that takes inspiration from the early days of the collaboration between adidas and Yohji Yamamoto, when roses were the graphic of choice and became the iconic signature of the renowned Japanese fashion designer.

The collection itself is highlighted by a purple 4th kit for both the Real Madrid Men’s and Women’s teams, constructed with moisture wicking HEAT.RDY technology to keep players feeling dry while performing on the biggest stage. Story and identity come together in the Matchwear kit through the colors of Real Madrid, where purple is a key shade within the club’s DNA. In addition to the 4th kit, the collection features two goalkeeper kits – one in black and one in orange – as well as a white pre-match selection including a top, a pair of shorts, and an anthem jacket.

From the pitch to the stands, Y-3 has also curated a selection of standout fanwear items, which perfectly encapsulate the label’s savoir-faire, including a T-shirt, a hoodie, a cross body bag, a cap, and a scarf. Alongside the collection, Y-3 and adidas are set to introduce a special edition Predator boot and Goalkeeper gloves.

Helping to bring the collection to life is a continuation of the campaign shot by London-based photographer Gabriel Moses. Featuring present day Real Madrid icons including Naomie Feller, Jude Bellingham, David Alaba, and Misa Rodríguez, the dynamic visuals tell a story of an unmatched sporting legacy, reimagined.

  • LALIGA organises ‘LALIGA AWARDS, The Pride of our Fútbol’

LALIGA organises ‘LALIGA AWARDS, The Pride of our Fútbol’

Mumbai: LALIGA, as part of its agreement with Globe Soccer, organises the “LALIGA AWARDS, The Pride of our Fútbol,” which consists of five monthly awards recognising the best goal, best player, best coach, best play and best U23 player, while recognition will also be given to the Team of the Season and the top player in terms of their social contribution.

To decide these prizes, the opinions of an expert committee are combined with the views from fans, who can vote for each month’s winners on the website titled: Feel the power of our Fútbol | LALIGA.

Girona FC’s Ukrainian striker Artem Dovbyk named Best Player.

High-flying Girona FC continue to be the surprise package of the LALIGA EA SPORTS season, sitting level on points with leaders Real Madrid after 19 matches and racking up three wins and a draw from four matches throughout December. One man who has played a fundamental role in this continued streak is Artem Dovbyk, whose four goals in those four games – including one in his side’s historic and unprecedented 4-2 win away at local rivals and reigning champions FC Barcelona – have led him to be named Best Player for December.

So impressive have Girona FC’s performances been this past month that Dovbyk’s teammate Yan Couto takes home the Best U23 Player award. The Brazilian has been almost ever-present for the Catalans this season, and this month contributed three assists including one for club stalwart and all-time leading scorer Cristhian Stuani in his side’s dramatic 2-1 win over Valencia CF at Montilivi.

Elsewhere, Athletic Club’s continued form sees Ernesto Valverde recognized as Best Coach. Los Leones sit in fifth place, just three points off a Champions League spot, with Valverde, now in his third spell in charge at San Mamés, masterminding three wins from four matches across December, including a convincing 2-0 win over title-challengers Atlético de Madrid. Athletic Club stars Nico Williams and Iñigo Lekue also take home the Best Play of the month award for their link-up play in that very same match, a move which began on the right flank and ended with a sensational strike from Nico into Jan Oblak’s top right corner from the most unlikely of angles.

Finally, the Best Goal award goes to Real Betis wide man Aitor Ruibal – who has played mostly as a right-back this season – for his remarkable long-range strike against LALIGA EA SPORTS leaders Real Madrid. The goal secured a point for Los Verdiblancos and kept Manuel Pellegrini’s men well and truly in the hunt for a European spot.
