    Damini strikes again with a sequel after 30 Years

    MUMBAI: Lightning strikes twice, and this time, it’s Damini 2.0. The cult Marathi television classic that pioneered daily soaps in the 90s is set to make a grand comeback after three decades.

    Originally produced by the late Gautam Adhikari and Markand Adhikari under the Sri Adhikari Brothers banner, Damini ran for over nine years, clocking more than 1,500 episodes and earning legendary status in Marathi households.

    Now, Damini 2.0 is ready to carry forward that legacy. The sequel is being produced by Doordarshan Sahyadri Vahini and will once again be written and directed by Kaanchan Adhikkari, who helmed the original series.

    On the revival, media baron Markand Adhikari expressed his joy, “I am very happy that Doordarshan Kendra, Mumbai has decided to take forward the legacy of Damini by producing Damini 2.0, with Kaanchan writing and directing it. Adhikari Brothers has always strived to create content that resonates with Indian audiences, and our next generation, Ravi and Kailash, will continue this legacy.”

    A show that once changed the face of Marathi television is ready to do it again. With Damini 2.0, nostalgia meets new-age storytelling, and the storm is set to return to the small screen.

    Cheil Worldwide SW Asia makes senior level appointments

    MUMBAI: Cheil Worldwide SW Asia has made senior level appointments.

    The agency has brought on board Ravi Narain as executive creative director, Sanjeev Hajela as senior vice president BTL South West Asian markets, Vikram Bhardwaj as DGM interactive and Saswati Sinha as head human resources.

    Narain moves in from Emaar MGF where he was vice president marketing and designs, while Hajela joins from the DDB Mudra Group where he was president retail and way finding business. Bhardwaj‘s last stint was with ThoughtBuzz India where he was country head while Sinha was with Evalueserve.

    Cheil WW SW Asia COO Alok Agrawal said, “Cheil India is expanding at a rapid pace and as a fully integrated, one solution agency we offer a great opportunity for growth of talent.     Prior to joining Emaar MGF, Narian has also worked with Bates David Enterprise Advertising as ECD, Contract Advertising as associate vice president, Foote Cone & Belding in Toronto, and associate creative director with Grey Advertising.

    Hajela comes in with over 25 years of experience in marketing. Prior to DDB Mudra Group, he has also worked with ITC (tobacco Division), Brown Forman Beverages Worldwide LG chemicals- Korea, and Primesite- New Delhi. In the last 11 years, he worked in various positions including the vice president and head of national Sales.

    Bhardwaj brings with him almost 10 years of marketing management expertise and resourceful insight in strategic marketing methodologies. He has also worked with Jet Airways, WNS and Annik Technology Services. Of late, his focus has been on making significant contributions to online marketing and offering strategies on social media management and planning.

    Sinha comes with more than 13 years of experience across industries. She started her career in the manufacturing industry and moved on to IT Media. She moved on to Advertising in 2006 as HR Director to Delhi JWT.

    ‘Boogie Woogie’ to make a comeback on Sony

    MUMBAI: In an attempt to sort out its declining fortunes, Sony has decided to ride the comeback wave. The channel brought in CID, Aahaat and even a revamped Karamchand (earlier on Doordarshan) to draw in the viewers.

    Continuing with this formula, SET has decided to revisit past glories with Boogie Woogie. The popularity of Javed Jaffrey, Naved and Ravi on this talent based dance contest has ensured a decade long run on SET.

    ‘The country-wide search for dancing talents will be flagged off with auditions beginning in Mumbai between 16 and 20 February.

    Boogie Woogie is all set to make a comeback on weekends and although no date has been revealed yet it will be aired as a one hour show on Saturdays at 8:00 pm.

    The new format comprises of theme based competitions like horror, villains, super hero kids, TV celebs, cabarets and Shaadi -Vivaah special.

    The reality based dance hunt will feature two championships with 7 episodes each. The proposed themes are ‘mummies and kids championships’.

Viewers will learn about the hidden feline beneath these ferocious creatures, and find out how our efforts at conservation could keep them alive for our future generations.

    Action Big Cat Week airs till 6 October at 8 pm and will repeat next day at 3 pm.

    Wild cats the channel says continue to amaze researchers, wildlife documentary filmmakers and viewers around the world with their incredible abilities and ever-changing behaviours. Animal Planet showcases these magnificent beasts as they hunt prey, battle threats and develop relationships in some of the most dangerous communities in the world.

    The special shares stories of crisis, tragedy, success, compassion and strength while bringing exclusive looks at the most exciting feline predators in the world directly into viewers’ homes.

    A team employs remote-control buggy cameras, buried periscopes and state-of-the-art night vision technology to truly enter the lion’s den in the one-hour programme Lion – Spy In The Den.     Alphonse Roy’s Great Cats of India airs on 4 October 2006. Roy captures documentary portraits of all of India’s four great cats – lion, tiger, leopard and the ever-elusive snow leopard. Viewers follow Alphonse throughout the whole filmmaking process, from the often-arduous journeys to remote locations, to setting up specialized field equipment and, of course, the actual filming.
