MUMBAI: TLC’s latest edition to its content library, ‘Style Inc. with Aalim Hakim’, which is slated to go on air on 20 October at 10 pm has already created a sensation in Bollywood and social media platforms. It claims to have generated an astounding 200 million impressions from the time the new season was announced. The series campaign has trended 5 times in the last two weeks on Twitter.

Based on the response, it has launched a campaign with a layered approach by Bollywood stars like Hrithik Roshan, Shahid Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu, Suniel Shetty, Riteish Deshmukh and Sachin Tendulkar talking about the upcoming series. They have also taken their views to the social media platform Twitter.

“The marketing strategy was to deliver an unmatched digital impact and social buzz, matching the finest in Indian entertainment. To be trending for all five campaigns within the same week demonstrates the content affinity and the creative ingenuity of the team. We are super excited with the deep affection been shown by our discerning millennial fans,” said Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific (South Asia) vice president female and family entertainment products Rajiv Bakshi.

MUMBAI: Discovery Communications’ lifestyle channel – TLC, armed with consumer feedback and international research, is back with the second season of “Style Inc. with Aalim Hakim.” With a reach of over 70-80 million households in India, the lifestyle channel is attempting to give viewers another peek at what is the latest in terms of hair styling in India.

The series will provide a gateway to the life of Bollywood’s new male brigade from 20 October every Thursday-Friday at 10 pm. The repeat telecast will be on Saturday-Sunday at 6 pm on TLC and TLC HD World.

The second season of the series has heart throbs Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Siddharth Malhotra, Aditya Roy Kapur, Ayushmann Khurrana, Tiger Shroff and Sanjay Dutt opening themselves up to Aalim. Viewers can watch Aalim transform their favourite stars for movies, photo shoots and ad films, as well showcase the unique relationship they share with Bollywood’s go-to stylist.

The six-episode show has roped in FitBit and Usha International as advertisers on board so far, and talks are on with a few more brands.

“TLC is a unique, standalone channel. It can’t be compared with any other channel. We have always tried to capture the trend of the country. Once, travel was a trend and then grooming was, and makeover used to be; now styling is in vogue. We believe that the audience is looking for content on beauty and style right now. We want to invest in this genre which is unique,” said Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific vice president, female and family entertainment products, south Asia Rajiv Bakshi.

He further stated that, “We are overwhelmed with the tremendous response the series has received on social platforms. Style is the new buzzword, and no one does it better than the new generation of Bollywood actors. The kind of Bollywood stars who would be appearing on the show can offer tips about maintaining one’s hair. It is a layered show, and not a straightforward one.”

Depending on the success of this season, the team will explore further possibilities. “We want to build a franchise,” added Bakshi.

Hakim added, “It is so exciting to witness this shift in India towards styling and grooming. I am super-charged to be doing the second season of “Style Inc. with TLC.” Fans will get to see Bollywood’s youngest and most stylish stars and get to know their style mantras.”

Targeted at the young millennials in the 15-35 age-group across India – who have a deep interest in styling but don’t know where to get it done from – the show will tell them the difference between a good and a bad haircut. “We are certainly targeting urban India. From the south, Bangalore is a very important market for us, and Hyderabad too has a good viewership. There is enough appetite in the north and the south,” voiced Bakshi.

The channel is launching eight to 10 shows in the next three months based on the genres of dating, relationship, food, travel, and a couple of series coming in from India.

Bakshi stressed that TLC is not limiting itself to a particular show genre. “We have always tried to do something more than what the audience demands. The approach of what they would want to watch which could be unknown to them is what we want to capture.”

With a countable number of channels in this space, Bakshi opined that there was enough place for new players.

“It is an attractive and feasible genre, and the market is dynamic. Certainly, as a market, it can obviously take more channels. The passion towards a certain kind of TV will overtake passion towards traditional TV. And, we believe, lifestyle is one of the areas of interest,” Bakshi concluded.

  • Kellogg’s India signs Ranveer Singh for new oats TVC

Kellogg’s India signs Ranveer Singh for new oats TVC

MUMBAI: ‘Garma garam’ (hot) oats and hunks are made for each other. Or so at least Kellogg thinks. And that’s exactly what the company is trying to convey in its latest mass communications in India.

For its ready-to-cook range of Kellogg’s Oats in India, the company has signed up Bollywood’s current hottie Ranveer Singh as its brand ambassador.

The new campaign, themed ‘garma garam’ or hot, will feature Ranveer in a new TVC and as part of a multi-dimensional effort that includes television, alternate media, in-store and point-of-sale executions.

The new Kellogg’s Oats commercial is for its variants Masst Masala and Hot Chinese.

Commenting on the development, Kellogg India MD Sangeeta Pendurkar said in a statement, “Due to fast-paced lives and growing health awareness, consumers are looking for foods that are nourishing and quick-to-prepare. We have stayed true to the Indian consumer’s need for flavours that are locally relevant with the right combination of taste and nourishment. Hence, with intent to communicate our range of ‘garma-garam’ oats, we decided to rope in Ranveer Singh whose energy and enthusiasm is unparalleled.”

According to Pendurkar, the vigour, dedication to fitness and fun that Ranveer brings to the table finds perfect synergy with the brand promise of ‘dil bharke khao’ (eat to your heart’s content).

“We are confident that this association will help break clutter and deliver the brand message to the consumers in the most unique and impactful manner,” she added.

Talking about the association with Kellogg’s Oats, Ranveer Singh, who is presently away in Switzerland shooting for a film, said, “I am so thrilled to be associated with an iconic brand like Kellogg and was really excited when they approached me to be on-board for their ‘garma-garam’ range of oats offerings. I love oats and can easily whip up a bowl of Kellogg’s Oats anytime and eat it to my heart’s content as it offers a super combination of nourishment and taste. It was lot of fun working on this awesome campaign!”

Ranveer, known for some recent powerful on-screen performances in films like ‘Baji Rao Mastani’, is part of Bolllywood’s new crop of actors who take fitness and health seriously.

Dwelling on the campaign, J Walter Thompson senior vice president and executive creative director Nandita Chalam said, “It was a challenge to come up with an idea that showcases the brand and category in a non-traditional space. When one of the country’s hottest stars signed up, fun and excitement were bound to follow.”

The idea behind the campaign was inspired by the media frenzy that can be triggered with a mere tweet by someone like Ranveer and the TVC reflects this in a humorous and witty way, Chalam went on to explain.

Kellogg’s has added two new flavours to its existing range of Kellogg’s Oats— Masst Masala and Hot Chinese.

Masst Masala has real vegetables like green peas, carrot, French beans, spices and condiments like coriander to bring oats to consumers in a format and flavour that they relish the most. On the other hand, Hot Chinese is a Chinese twist to oats with hot red chilli flakes, a statement from the company stated.

Other oats flavours from the company include Simply Pongal (a product inspired by the favourite South-Indian delicacy Pongal and made of oats, moong daal and black pepper) and Tomato Salsa that brings in the tangy feel of tomatoes with spices and condiments to create an exciting flavour.

The Kellogg’s Oats range is available across the country in single serve packs of 200 gm, half kg and one kg packs with price points starting from Rs. 15 to Rs. 175.

  • TVF to launch Barely Speaking with Arnub

TVF to launch Barely Speaking with Arnub

MUMBAI: After creating quite a buzz during its last season two years ago and reviving the talk show culture in India, TVF is all set to launch Season 2 of the most watched online talk show in India – TVF’s innovative, popular, iconic talk show – Barely Speaking with Arnub – later this month.

Created as a parody to a TV talk show, the first season of Barely Speaking with Arnubfeatured leading actors and political icons – from Shahrukh Khan, Ranveer Singh and Parineeti Chopra to the current New Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal.

The popular online show was built on the same ideology and premise on which TVF was initially created, which was to deliver great and awesome content for its audiences.TVF entered the niche market of online talk shows in 2014 with Barely Speaking with Arnub. The talk show became an instant hit with audiences not just in India, but across the world, with each episode clocking over 2 million views!

In the growing age of digital media where branded online content has taken off in a big way, the silver screen has realised the importance of the web. Barely Speaking with Arnub provides a innovative platform not just to films and filmmakers for their pre-release promotions, but, also to celebrities to showcase their human, more natural side to their fans, not just in India, but across the world!

Arunabh Kumar, CEO and Founder of TVF says, “TV Channels have tried a lot of talks shows and the new millennium has seen several established actors trying their hand at hosting one. This led to all of the talk shows being more or less similar in India. From radio to television to print media, every domain has been tried and tested by celebrities to connect to their audiences, but no medium connects them better than digital. When we wanted to create an online talk show, we knew that no amount of marketing or promotions would help if we don’t create a talk show with a difference. And that’s when we decided to turn the talk show format on its head and conceive it as the ‘toughest host a guest will ever get!’

In the growing age of digital media, where online content is spreading like wildfire, every popular celebrity has recognised the importance and power of the web. Stars and celebrities want to connect to young viewers and that’s where we have managed to hit the nail with the TVF Brand which everyone loves and deliver a talk show that stands out. And more so, it helps them stand up for something they believe in with a smile. TVF created ‘Barely Speaking with Arnub’ catering to the digital audiences’ taste and helping humanise some of the country’s biggest celebrities. In the scores of interviews that SRK gives for his movie promotions, what audiences remember is ‘Barely Speaking With Arnub’. It is also the most watched online talk show in India. TVF also created history in India by getting a politician on the show and talk to us as one of us. With the 2nd Season of Barely Speaking, we want to help get more celebrities from across the field connect to new age Indians and share what they believe in. And of course the host – Arnub with a U — ensures to keep the viewers and guests smiling!.”

Biswapati Sarkar, Executive Creative Director, TVF added, “The funny thing about the show is not that we are making fun of celebrities or that we are parodying the existing Indian journalism culture. It is the fact there is a show at all and real life celebrities are appearing in it. This season, we have expanded the Arnub universe featuring new storylines and characters in his life apart from the interviews. I’m having a great time right now working with the writers on the episodes and really excited to play Arnub once again.”
