    Neo Sports in deal with The New Media Group for Japan, Korea & Taiwan

    MUMBAI: Neo Sports, which focusses on Indian cricket, has announced a deal with Asia Pacific digital media platform developer and operator The New Media Group (TNMG).

    The deal will allow Neo Sports to be available across Japan, Korea and Taiwan. TNMG will distribute Neo Sports on its World On-Demand IPTV platform, offering both packaged and ala carte deals.

    With this, Neo Sports is spreading its footprint across Asia. Recently, it had announced a deal with several South East Asian countries.

    Neo Sports CEO Shashi Kalathil said, “We aim to reach the Indian diaspora in Japan, Korea and Taiwan. Partnering with The New Media Group gives us a huge advantage as they have unparrelled reach amongst this target audience in these markets.”

    The New Media Group president Randy McGraw said, “This is a great opportunity for our 6,000-plus community member subscribers as well as our company. We are proud to be associated with Neo, and will work with them in the third quarter of 2007 to develop and launch community and interactive features around their content.”

    MUMBAI: The New Media Group (TNMG) and Taj Television, which owns sports channel Ten Sports, have formed a partnership.

    TNMG will distribute and market Taj Television’s assets to users in Japan and Korea.

    TNMG president Randy McGraw says, “We have been really impressed with the content that Ten Sports is producing, the company’s management, and its direction.

    “This strategic tie-up goes a long way toward our mission of establishing the preeminent IPTV and sports community management portal for the growing number of people that are under-serviced by legacy broadcasting, DTH and CATV systems in the markets where they live. We are happy to be working with Taj Television.”

    Under the agreement between companies, TNMG will distribute Ten Sports to a community of 200,000 South East Asian and Subcontinent community members living and working in Japan and Korea. Taking advantage of the regions broadband and 3G mobile infrastructure, TNMG will work with Taj Television Limited initially on TV offerings, and will eventually will develop offerings for consumption on TV, PC, and mobile phones.

    TNMG says that it will give its viewers the World On-Demand, and we are happy to have this solution. South Asians all over Asia will now be able to watch cricket, football, hockey, tennis, and see their favorite players and home teams doing it.

    The two companies will eventually collaborate on new, interactive offerings for consumers of Ten Sports’ content.

    The companies began services in Japan and other East Asian markets in December, 2006.

    EuroNews launches on broadband in Japan

    MUMBAI: EuroNews expands its distribution in Asia and launches on broadband in Japan. The news broadcaster has concluded an agreement with The New Media Group (TNMG), based in Tokyo, for the launch of the channel in Japan.

    Beginning in November, the international news channel in Europe will be available on The World On Demand IPTV platform owned and operated by TNMG, according to an official release.

    Initially, the channel will be broadcast in English and French, eventually expanding to include additional languages, as EuroNews also broadcasts simultaneously in German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.

    EuroNews has also signed an agreement with Hamers Company, based in Yokohama, for the distribution of EuroNews in hotels within Japan.

    EuroNews chairman and CEO Philippe Cayla said: “EuroNews is available in this part of the world in India, in Australia and in New Caledonia, we also are already distributed in IPTV in Hong-Kong and now Japan. We are pleased to have an agreement with for The New Media Group to also launch EuroNews on “The World On Demand” platform in Korea and Taiwan next year. We are also starting to expand the distribution of the channel in hotel rooms first in Japan and later throughout Asia”

    “The vision of the World on Demand is to bring together communities and deliver a user experience comprised of high brand-value VOD and linear channels along with community management tools,” said TNMG president Randy McGraw. “Our alliance with EuroNews – which is one of the best news brands in Europe – is exactly the type of content that our user communities want.”
