  • Law & Kenneth beefs up senior team

    MUMBAI: Law & Kenneth’s India arm has made three top level recruitments in Rana Barua, Amardeep Singh and Samir Datar in order to align its management and creative leadership with its growth plans.

    Barua comes in as chief operating officer, Singh as chief creative officer and Datar as senior vice-president, strategic planning.

    Law and Kenneth CEO Anil Nair confirmed the news to indiantelevision.com and also said, “These appointments are a part of organisational restructuring at Law and Kenneth. The agency has been seeing tremendous growth over the past couple of years and today we are a force to reckon with in India. These positions have been created specifically to better cope with the growth spurt we are experiencing and to facilitate further growth.”

    Barua will continue to be based out of Mumbai and will be in charge of Law and Kenneth west and south and will report to Nair. Singh and Datar will retain their base in Delhi.

    As CCO, Singh will be in charge of creative business in the north and east and will report to Law and Kenneth NCD Charles Victor. Datar will look after the ITC business and will report to co-chairman and managing director Praveen Kenneth and Nair.

    Barua’a previous stint was with Red 93.5 FM as COO from where he stepped down in January 2012. Before that he held the post of EVP – programming and marketing at Radio City for three and a half years. He has 19 years of experience in the field, having started at JWT as account executive in 1993. Subsequently, he has worked with Ogilvy and Mather, McCann, Rediffusion DY&R and Bates in the span of his career.

    Singh, who is gearing up for his second innings at Law and Kenneth, has previously worked with agencies such as Mudra, Trikaya Grey, McCann Erickson, Contract, Dentsu Communications, M&C Saatchi and Law & Kenneth. With around 22 years of experience, he has worked with a myriad collection of brands like Jet Airways, SAS, Domino‘s, Coke, Perfetti, Yamaha, Hindustan Motors, Suzuki, Seagram‘s, RadicoKhaitan, Bacardi, Nestle, SmithKline Beecham, Dabur, Reckitt & Coleman, JK Tyres, Apollo Tyres, Grasim, NIIT, Royal Bank of Scotia, ABN Amro Bank, GPI Bravery, PVR Cinemas, Oberoi Hotels, The Lalit, Toshali Resorts, Bausch & Lomb, DLF Malls and Unitech.

    Datar’s career spans over 20 years during which he has interacted and worked with diverse product categories. He started off as account director at JWT in 1996 followed by agencies like Cheil Communications, Bilcare Research and Acme Tele Power Ltd. He worked with brands like Maggi, Samsung, Hyundai and Nature Fresh.

    Datar said, “I believe that Law & Kenneth is the most exciting and challenging place to be right now and I look forward to contributing my bit to the excitement. My role will be to have strategic focus on all brands under ITC, which is also the core strength of Law and Kenneth.”

    MUMBAI: In a unique ‘Whatte Fun’ endeavour of sorts, Lucknow’s Radio City 91.1FM organized a 2 week City Ki Chaka Chak Bike contest that invited Lucknow’s bike enthusiasts to showcase their most innovatively modified bikes. With over 40 entries pouring in from all across Lucknow, 21 year old Naved Abbasi from Razman Bazaar, Cantt, Dilkusha, Lucknow bagged the City Ki Chaka Chak Bike winning exciting goodies courtesy Radio City. Helping the Radio City team identify the winner was Mr. Deep Saxena from Hindustan Times an automobiles enthusiast and an expert in information technology.

     

    Resonating Whatte Fun through the City of the Nawabs, Radio City 91.1FM ran the City Ki Chaka Chak Bike contest on-air for 10 days that witnessed 40 plus bike lovers come forth to flaunt their passion for the two-wheeler. The winning criterion was to shortlist the maximum modifications done keeping present trends in mind. The winning bike belongs to Naved, a computer engineer by profession who has been passionate about bikes since he was 17. He modified his 150 CC all terrain bike into a motocross bike ready for a mountain ride. Replacing the twin shockers on the bike’s mono suspension, he changed the fuel tank along with the body fibre as well. With changed mudguard and a short handle the bike is a real delight to eyes.

    Lucknow Radio City 91.1FM’s City Ki Chaka Chak Bike witnessed avid Radio Cityzens participating from all age brackets remodelling their two wheelers to acquire the title of the most alluring bike from their favourite radio station. It was quite a task to declare the winner with an array of bikes with spectacular modifications ranging from changes in the whole body fibre, modified fuel tanks, shockers and wheels. Other innovative modifications were the conversion of the CBZ into a Hayabusa, fixing revolving lights in the bike and installing a radio set tuned to Radio City 91.1FM in one of the bikes.

    Radio City inducts Rana Barua as south head

    MUMBAI: Radio City has made three top-level appointments to facilitate its growth and expansion plans, following the recent acquisition of 16 new FM broadcast licenses and the launch of its stations in Hyderabad, Chennai and Jaipur.

    Rana Barua has been appointed as head – south zone, Mohan Vizhakat as head – technology and IT and Anil Dhimri as head – projects / infrastructure at Radio City.
    As part of his new assignment, Barua will be responsible for three key markets – Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai.

    Barua is an experienced hand in the advertising industry with stints in agencies such as Rediffusion / Dentsu Y&R Mumbai, McCann – Erickson, Lowe, Ogilvy and JWT for over 10 years. Prior to joining Radio City, Barua held the position of VP and GM at Bates Enterprise, Mumbai.

    The private FM radio company has also appointed Vizhakat, who has over 19 years of experience in project management, IT infrastructure management, consultancy, IT-telecom integrated solutions, networking, information security across industry segments.

    Vizhakat has also received distinguished award and decoration from the president of India on the Republic Day 2001 for exemplary performance in project management during his tenure in the armed forces. A few of his previous assignments include Airtel Enterprise Solutions, Indecomm Global Services, Defence Research and Development Organization, informs an official release.

    On other other hand, as head – projects / infrastructure, Dimri comes in with more than 27 years of experience, and has handled several large office infrastructure projects with emphasis on cost saving in esteemed organisations like Tata Teleservices, Tata Cellular and Tata Unisys Limited to name a few.
