IPL Fantasy League user base crosses 10 lakh

BENGALURU:  TenTenTen Digital Products (TTT) announced that its fantasy cricket game user base has nearly doubled to cross the 10 lakh mark. TTT says that this probably makes it the biggest cricket game in the world.

The company informs that the biggest success of the IPL Fantasy League has been the high level of traffic it has witnessed. Since its launch in 2013, the Fantasy League website has had over 60 lakh unique visitors clocking in nearly 2.75 crore page views, with an average session spanning eight pages over 13 minutes. TTT says that the league also saw global participation with almost 18 per cent of visitors coming from 213 countries outside India. After India, the countries with most visits were the UK and the US, followed by the UAE and Pakistan.

TTT managing director and CEO Ramesh Srivats says, “The challenge this year was to make the best game even better. We approached this at two levels. We enhanced the experience for serious players by adding features like Stealth Mode, Scheduled Changes, and even the ability to track league positions live. And for casual players, we made the game more enjoyable with All Stars, Facebook Leagues and fun features like Dishooms. The response has been overwhelming, and now we have already started thinking about what new stuff we can add next year.”

Sharing additional data, the company claims that all three game modes saw increased participation. Over 4.5 lakh people played the Championship Mode, and 36 lakh Daily Challenge teams were created.  The new game mode – All Stars – where casual players could create a team by picking at least one player from each franchise saw nearly 3 lakh people participating in it.  TTT informs that the ability to create user leagues also drew heavy engagement, with users being able to face-off against friends and colleagues for bragging rights. Over 60,000 such leagues were created with a combined membership of nearly 4.5 lakh players this year.

Users could also join fan leagues, to indicate the teams they were rooting for. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) was at the top with over 1.17 lakh users. When it comes to the ‘most wanted’ players of this season, based on users’ choice across all 60 matches, Glen Maxwell topped the list followed by Virat Kohli, Sunil Narine, Dwayne Smith and Suresh Raina.

The winners of the IPL Fantasy League were awarded the official team jersey signed by KKR players along with a special cricket bat and a hamper of IPL memorabilia. In addition to this, The Daily Challenge winners were also given tickets for the playoff matches.

  • Twitterati get active post-Raghav Bahl’s departure from Network18

Twitterati get active post-Raghav Bahl’s departure from Network18

MUMBAI: On a day which saw Network18’s founder Raghav Bahl announce his exit from the group he founded,  netizens took to twitter to express themselves.

Nimbus Sport promoter Harish Thawani lucidly put it in his tweet. “Sad to see Raghav Bahl leave the pitch. 1 of the original band of Indian pros turned entrepreneur. Inspired us & made all of us proud.”

Bahl’s close associate and CNN-IBN editor in chief Rajdeep Sardesai tweeted: @Raghav_Bahl a visionary leader who built a great network. And gave the freedom to journalists to stay true to the profession.

Rajdeep’s spouse and CNN-IBN prime time anchor Sagharika Gose who hosts the show, ‘Face the People’ called Raghav both encouraging and a dreamer tweeting, “Salute @Raghav_Bahl deeply committed to excellence, always encouraging, both dreamer and doer, you built a formidable network”.

The network which has seen many high profile exits, both at the editorial and managerial level, had former CNN-IBN anchor and deputy foreign affairs editor Suhasini Haidar tweeting, “Founders of Network18 @Raghav_Bahl and @kapur_ritu announce their exit from all channels. As their farewell note says “God Bless Network18”

Sports journalist Gaurav Kalra who quit Network18 earlier this year to become senior editor of ESPN Cricinfo had this to say. “as he exits network 18, my sincere gratitude to @Raghav_Bahl for giving so many of us a platform to work freely, without fear or favour.”

Rajdeep’s former colleague and NDTV group editor Barkha Dutt came out in support of Mukesh Ambani’s acqusition of the Bahl media empire. Said she in her tweet: “Globally too Big Media models built on money from State or Corporates. (Think Al Jazeera, NBC, or SKY). What’s important is disclosure.”

Her colleague at NDTV and  Mumbai bureau head Sreenivasan Jain was not as accepting. He expressed his angst about the development. He tweeted: “Buying news channels is not like buying a shale gas field. Needs assurances – internal and public – of safeguarding of editorial freedoms.”

He further went on to punch the following tweet to twitter: “The question is not simply of corporate ownership of media. It’s the manner and circumstances in which ownership changes hands.”

Economist and well known columnist Ajit Ranade tweeted, “Across his Network he ran a “reform agenda” blitzkrieg in run-up to elections. Now, he’s saying goodbye.”

Senior journalist and commentator Madhvan Narayanan decided to remind us of where it all started. His tweet read: “Raghav Bahl quits Network18 after selling the media empire he founded about 20 years ago to RIL. 18 = Number of people in his startup team.”

But providing the icing on the cake was twitter fanatic  Ramesh Srivats – he of the shiny pate – who in his inimitable style made us smile even at a time of glum faces at Network18 following a rash of departures and exits. Tweeted he: “Raghav Bahl exits Network 18. I thoroughly empathise with the network. I also have no Bahl.”

  • The IPL Fantasy League returns with additional features

The IPL Fantasy League returns with additional features

BENGALURU: The stage is set for another edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well the second edition of TenTenTen Digital Products (TenTenTen) ‘IPL Fantasy League’. The ‘Digital IPL’ that debuted last year, created an immediate impact, with over five lakh players across the globe participating during IPL 2013.

The 2014 edition is packed with new game features as well as fun elements, fans will now get to replay this excitement in the new season says the company.

“We are extremely excited about the league this year. When we approached IPL last year, we were confident about the appeal of a Fantasy League, as well as how it will help grow the craze of IPL beyond the traditional boundaries. However, what caught us by surprise was the momentum it gained in its debut year itself. With half a million participants, the league became the largest fantasy cricket league ever. This year, we have packed in lots of new stuff to fuel the awareness and engagement for IPL further. We expect a million players to play the league this time, taking the IPL fever to the next level globally.” said TenTenTen Digital Marketing Guru and founder Ramesh Srivats.

TenTenTen says that the site saw nearly 1.5 crore visits and over 10 crore page views in a span of two months last year and also created tremendous involvement and social buzz with lakhs of tweets and Facebook updates.

Users were given the ability to create private leagues and play IPL Fantasy with their friends and colleagues, for bragging rights. Encouraged by the success, the Fantasy League was extended to the Champions League T20 2013 with TenTenTen handling all responsibilities for the same.

The League allows a player to own and create a team with name, emblem and motto. Each player is then given 10 million Fantasy Dollars using which he or she can pick a virtual squad of 11 players. Players then earn points based on their squad’s actual performance in IPL matches. The Fantasy team with the most points wins the league.

The league is also better optimised for mobile this year says TenTenTen. The winners of the IPL Fantasy League 2014 stand a chance of winning tickets to the matches and exciting IPL merchandise.
