    David Ward to screenwrite Rajiv Gandhi biopic

    MUMBAI: Bhavna Talwar, known for her film Dharm and now under-production Happi, has roped in screenplay writer and director David S Ward to write the script of her film based on the life of Rajiv Gandhi.

    The film is said to delve into the life of our ex-prime minister encompassing every aspect from his personal life to that of him as a political leader.

    Looking at her busy schedule, Talwar has roped in screenplay writer and director David S Ward to write the script of the film. Not only that, the director wanted an outsider‘s perspective on Rajiv Gandhi. Ward will now spend the next year in Delhi tracking the life of the famous politician.

    Confirming Ward’s appointment, Talwar said, “I know Ward‘s work, he possesses the sensitivity to pull it off effectively,” observed Talwar. “If I concentrated on writing the film, I‘d have no time for all the other vast preparations required to start it.”

    MUMBAI: Of late filmmakers tread on three paths: remakes, sequels and biopics that they think will get them enough returns besides entertaining people at large.

    Amid talks of filmmaker Manish Gupta making a biopic of Anna Hazare, comes the news that Bhavna Talwar has firmed up her mind to make a film based on the life of India’s former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi.

    The film is said to delve into the life of Gandhi encompassing every aspect – from his personal life to that of him as a political leader.

    Currently, in the process of scripting the film, Talwar has over the last year researched extensively on the subject.

    The film is being produced by Sheetal Talwar under his WSG banner.

    Meanwhile, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is all set to make a documentary on the life and times of Shammi Kapoor, who passed away in August last year due to chronic renal failure.

    “From the pessimism of Guru Dutt’s ‘Jinhe naaz hai Hind par woh kahan hain’ from Pyaasa, Shammi took us kicking, screaming, singing and dancing with ‘Hum pyar ke toofanon se ghire hain hum kya kare’in Junglee,” Mehra added while speaking on his inspiration to make the documentary titled Bollywood The Greatest Love Story Ever Told.

    Work on the documentary is slated to begin after completion of Mehra’s Bhaag Milkha Bhaag in July.

    Brand Harvest creates identity for Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayee Arogya Yojana

    MUMBAI: Brand solutions company, Brand Harvest, has established a new identity and positioning for Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayee Arogya Yojana (RGJAY).

    Among the several agencies’ presentations, logo unit and the positioning statement developed by Brand Harvest was selected.

    RGJAY is an initiative by the State Government of Maharashtra that aims to improve the medical access facility for both ‘below poverty line’ and ‘above poverty line’ families.

    Brand Harvest MD Ram Gudipati said, “The logo was chosen for its simplicity of thought and visual expression. It has been developed keeping in mind the various applications in which the logo had to be reproduced. The positioning tag – ‘Nirogi Maharashtra, Pragthisheel Maharashtra’ was recommended for this program with the thought that healthy people enable the state to prosper and progress.”

    Currently the agency is working on developing various signage systems and other applications. No design fee was incurred by the agency for the exercise.
