    MUMBAI: As we approach the most crucial elections in the history of India, CNN-IBN and IBN7, with its legacy of inclusive journalism, recognize the role of the common citizen and the need to empower them with a voice. The channels have come up with a unique initiative called Open Mike that will give the masses a platform to voice their concerns, grievances, opinions, expectations from the upcoming General Election at a scale that has never been seen before.

    Everyday a question revolving around key political issues, opinions, policies, reactions to proposals will be put forward on–air and on the network’s various online and social media properties. CNN-IBN and IBN7 will travel across different cities, to pre-selected locations, and capture the views and opinions from various people on the said question for an on-air play-out. Viewers will also be enabled to submit their videos, responses on the channel’s various web and social media interfaces. The property will get extensive play on the channels with special shows and segments through the day through the entire period of elections. The key motive behind this initiative is to empower the common man and enable them to actively participate in the discourse on Elections.

    IBN7 revamps primetime with two mega shows as polls come closer

    NEW DELHI: With the general elections round the corner, IBN7 is revamping its primetime programming with the introduction of two brand new shows with veteran journalists Vinod Dua and Sanjay Pugalia.

     

    The new programming will mark the return of Vinod Dua in a special election show Vinod Dua Ka Prashnkaal, which will be the first fully interactive prime-time election show on any Hindi news platform. The host will give a platform to viewers to express themselves freely and participate in the election discussions.

     

    The channel will put out a “Topic of the Day” for a fixed time during the day, inviting viewers to call in with their views and questions. Questions would also be taken from Twitter, Facebook and the channel’s website – IBNKhabar. Additionally, the channel will also integrate a distinct video element called “Open Mike” which will allow on-camera views and questions on the day’s topic. Vinod Dua Ka Prashnkaal will air every Monday to Thursday at 8 pm.

     

    Another new prime time show, India 9 Baje, will go on air from 18 February every Monday to Friday at 9 pm, and will see Sanjay Pugalia do a round-up of the day’s major news stories. The show will follow a flexible format, primarily consisting of one big debate along with other stories of impact from the worlds of politics, sports, business, international and entertainment news. Sanjay Pugalia with his experience, credibility and vast knowledge of politics as well as political economy, will give viewers a rare combination of the two in his delivery of news.

The talk show features some of the world’s most well-known corporate leaders and sports legends who come and share their ideas, thoughts and experiences on leadership and talk about their success mantras.

    On the second episode of this season, Rajdeep Sardesai gets up close and personal with Sourav Ganguly, Former Captain of the Indian Cricket Team and Sanjiv Goenka, Chairman, RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group. In an ardent discussion on leadership, these two personalities hailing from Kolkata, speak about the qualities that helped them excel in their respective fields. Both Ganguly and Goenka believe that it is a leader’s duty to motivate his team and give them the confidence that they can deliver.     MUMBAI: After a successful first season last year, Leader Talk, hosted by IBN Network Editor-in-Chief Rajdeep Sardesai, is back with its second season. The talk show features some of the world’s most well-known corporate leaders and sports legends who come and share their ideas, thoughts and experiences on leadership and talk about their success mantras.

    Every week, Leader Talk will bring together two personalities from the corporate and sports world, respectively, in an interview with Rajdeep Sardesai, to enable exchange of ideas and explore what leaders in these two areas can learn from each other.

    On the opening episode of this season, Rajdeep Sardesai gets up close and personal with Indian Tennis legend Leander Paes and the President of IndiGo Airlines, Aditya Ghosh. The episode highlights what drives both Paes and Ghosh to constantly innovate and reinvent themselves. Talking about leadership, Paes says, a leader’s job is not just to motivate or teach others but also to learn from his team and keep evolving all the time. Likewise, Ghosh emphasizes that leadership has very little to do with the individual and more to do with the team.

    Thums Up, Being Human & AIF launch “VEER”

    MUMBAI: Living up to its toofani message of unleashing the potential within, India’s most iconic brand Thums Up has come together with brand ambassador Salman Khan’s Being Human Foundation and CNN-IBN to launch Campaign VEER – Unleashing the Inner Potential of Persons with Disabilities. With the American India Foundation (AIF) coming on board as Implementation Partners, VEER is set to be a two-month long media campaign showcasing case examples of Persons with Disabilities (PwD) who have succeeded in their endeavors on the strength of their self belief, despite environmental and attitudinal barriers.

    The initiative aims to reach out to more than 1000 PwDs with skill training and employment opportunities and will also raise advocacy on issues revolving around inclusiveness, employability of PwDs and workplace accessibility. In its first phase, this special campaign aims to collect funds to train and economically empower at least 1,000 PwDs.

    Speaking about the campaign, Salman Khan, Founder of Being Human and Face of Campaign VEER said, “Together with Thums Up, Being Human has launched Veer, a campaign that recognizes the potential of differently abled individuals and provides them with a level playing field. We are thankful to CNN-IBN and AIF for their support”.

     

    Rajdeep Sardesai, Editor-in-Chief, CNN-IBN, IBN7 and IBN-Lokmat, said, “We at IBN Network firmly believe that journalism has to be truly inclusive. As part of this commitment, we are very proud to announce VEER in association with Thums up, American India Foundation and Being Human.”

    VEER will address challenges such as inclusive education and employment, skill training and development, and advocating for disabled-friendly technology. Towards this, several panel discussions are set to be held with participation from the who’s who from  government, corporate, NGOs, policy makers/ think tanks and donors of the campaign to discuss on the way forward to empower the ‘specially-abled’ of the country. Key takeaways from these discussions would be compiled into a ‘Vision Document’ and presented to the government.

    AIF will impart vocational training to these individuals and ascertain their requirements so that they can be made job-ready. As outlined by AIF, INR 7,500 is all it takes to train an individual with disability to make him/her employable.

    Speaking about the initiative, Debabrata Mukherjee, VP-Marketing & Commercial, Coca-Cola India said, “Thums Up as a brand believes that everybody has the potential within, it’s just that one needs to nudge himself and take the leap of faith that can change his reality. In continuation with the same belief, through the campaign VEER, we would like to offer specially abled persons a platform to unleash their own potential. We are very glad that partners like CNN-IBN,  Being Human and American India Foundation have joined hands and we hope that together we will be able to make a positive difference”

    Hemanth Paul, Country Director, AIF, said, “Irrespective of whether you are a person with disability or not, economic independence is a critical thing for everyone. We need to mould persons with disability from being a liability to an asset. At the American India Foundation, we have been working on the whole livelihood space for the last eight years to make such people financially independent.”

    The launch episode of VEER will introduce the viewers to the idea behind starting this campaign and reveal how every Indian can get involved. On the show, eminent voices such as disability rights activist Javed Habibi; actor-activist Rahul Bose; Deepak Jolly, VP Communication & Public Affairs at Coca-Cola; Hemanth Paul, Country Director, AIF; para table-tennis champion Suvarna Raj; and Pankaj Dubey, MD, Polaris India, will discuss the need for a campaign like VEER.

    The series with four episodes will run in conjunction with digital platforms. A dedicated call centre- 0120-4019191, a website – www.theveer.in, and a mobile app – VEER has been set up to enable people to make contributions.     MUMBAI: As a run-up to the upcoming General Elections which are possibly the most crucial Elections in recent times, CNN-IBN & IBN7 are gearing up for their most exhaustive and comprehensive programming related to politics, politicians, elections and the expectations of the people from their leaders.

    CNN-IBN & IBN7 began this massive effort with its first round of The Election Tracker in July 2013, which was a one-of-its-kind study that tested the mood of the nation on key governance issues and attempted to track the fortunes of key political leaders; eventually endeavoring to answer the BIGGEST QUESTION – Who will rule India for the next five years? Taking this elaborate study further in the recently concluded 5 State Assembly Elections, both the channels tried to answer all the questions related to the crucial state elections through the Pre-Poll and Post-Poll surveys.

    The upcoming round of The Election Tracker on CNN-IBN and Agar Abhi Chunav Hon Toh on IBN7 scheduled from 20th January to 24th January, 2014 will see participation of approximately 17,000 respondents to be surveyed across 20 states with focus on social and political issues of national importance. Based on a rigorous methodology, this study will project voting patterns and likely outcome. The study will be conducted by the ‘Centre for the Study of Developing Societies’ (CSDS).

    NEW DELHI: Ashutosh has decided to move on from his role as Managing Editor of IBN7, the Network18 Group’s National Hindi News Service. He is passing on the mantle to Vinay Tewari, Managing Editor, CNN-IBN who will now also lead IBN7 editorial operations in the same capacity. In this expanded role, Tewari will also drive network synergies at CNN-IBN and IBN7.

    MUMBAI: The recent research conducted by an independent organizationGoonj Labs, on news channel’s social media engagement during the latest Assembly Elections, has yet again proved that CNN-IBN, India’s No. 1 English News channel is the leader in social media space too. The channel’s popularity when calculated across platforms on Google Search, Facebook, Twitter, Google News, You Tube was 14% higher in comparison to the nearest channel on the counting day. CNN- IBN consistently receives more positive feedback than the rest.

    MUMBAI: Marking the first anniversary of the horrific Delhi gang rape that shook the country on December 16, 2012 and paved the way for new laws on women safety, CNN-IBN has put together a series of shows on women related issues under its programming Agenda for Change – One Year On.
    The first show Men Against the Tide, will showcase men who have made it their mission to empower women and will go on air on December 13, 2013 at 8:30 PM.

    On December 14, 2013, at 9:30 PM a special episode of The Citizen Journalist Show will engage viewers in a discourse with Anubha Bhonsle, who will speak about women safety and the shrinking public spaces for women.

    The personal loss and the fight for justice that Nirbhaya’s parents endured will be highlighted in a special show Nirbhaya: The Fearless One on December 16, 2013 at 7:30 PM.

    The last part of the programming, The Justice Dialogue will have CNN-IBN Deputy Editor Sagarika Ghose analysing the scenario of gender justice in India and investigating whether there has been any significant progress in administering the same, since the horrendous gang rape that resulted in the death of the victim Nirbhaya.
