    Spuul to premier Rajat Kapoor’s ‘X:Past is Present’

    MUMBAI: Online streaming service for Indian cinema content Spuul is premiering Drishyam Films’ X:Past is Present digitally. 

     

    This will be Rajat Kapoor’s second film to debut on Spuul after Ankhon Dekhi in 2014. The movie will be available across devices like eeb, mobile (iOS, Android), Smart TVs (Samsung, Panasonic, LG), Airplay on iOS, and Chromecast on Android.

     

    X:Past is Present is a 2015 Indian collaborative feature film directed by a team of 11 filmmakers including Abhinav Shiv Tiwari, Anu Menon, Nalan Kumarasamy, Hemant Gaba, Pratim D. Gupta, Q, Raja Sen, Rajshree Ojha, Sandeep Mohan, Sudhish Kamath and Suparn Verma. It features actor-director Rajat Kapoor and Anshuman Jha in the lead.

     

    The movie also stars Huma Qureshi, Radhika Apte and Swara Bhaskar. It revolves around a filmmaker battling mid life crisis who meets a girl half his age. This girl brings back memories of all the women in his life including his lovers, wives and actresses.

    Some of the latest additions to Spuul’s catalogue over the past months are movies like Detective Byomkesh Bakshy, Jal, Dum Laga Ke Haisha and Hunterrr.

    ‘X’, a film by eleven directors is opening film at South Asian filmfest

    NEW DELHI: A film directed by eleven Indian directors, X will be the opening film of the South Asian International Film Festival (SAIFF).

    The festival is to be held from 18 to 23 November in New York.

    The film is a novel experiment since eleven filmmakers with varied styles have made different parts of the same film.

    The story revolves around K, a filmmaker with a mid-life crisis, who meets a mysterious young girl who reminds him of his first girlfriend at first, and subsequently, of every woman in his life.

    Produced by Manish Mundra, the film is jointly directed by Abhinav Shiv Tiwari, Anu Menon, Hemant Gaba, Nalan Kumarasamy, Pratim D Gupta, Q, Raja Sen, Rajshree Ojha, Sandeep Mohan, Sudhish Kamath and Suparn Verma.

    Shiladitya Bora and Sudhish Kamath are executive producers of the film.

    The movie features Aditi Chengappa, Bidita Bag, Gabriella Schmidt, Huma Qureshi, Neha Mahajan, Parno Mitra, Pia Bajpai, Pooja Ruparel, Radhika Apte, Richa Shukla, Rii Sen and SwaraBhaskar with Anshuman Jha and Rajat Kapoor

    26 features and 16 non-features in Indian Panorama of 44th IFFI

    A total of 26 features and 16 non-features figure in the list of the Indian Panorama section of the next International Film Festival of India (IFFI) to be held in Panaji in Goa from 20 November.

     

    The Panorama films also form the basis for the government to make its selections when sending films for participation in film festivals overseas.

     

    The Jury for feature films, headed by renowned filmmaker and editor B Lenin, selected 25 films out of a total of 210 eligible entries.

     

    Hindi film Pan Singh Tomar (Director Tigmanshu Dhulia) which won the Best Feature Film award at the recent 60th National Film awards is the 26th film of Indian Panorama, by virtue of direct entry. The nine- member jury took 21 days to finalise the selections.

     

    The Non-Feature films jury chaired by well known director Raja Sen, picked 15 films out of 130 eligible entries. Kashmiri film Shepherds of Paradise (Director Raja Shabir Khan) which won the Best Non feature film award at the recent 60th National Film Awards is the 16th film of Indian Panorama by direct entry. The five member jury took nine days to finalise the selections.

     

    The juries chose Kanyaka Talkies (Malayalam, Director K R Manoj) and Rangabhoomi (Hindi, Director Kamla Swaroop) as the opening feature and non-feature films respectively for the Indian Panorama 2013 at the 44th IFFI.

     

    The features have six films in Malayalam, five in Hindi apart from another in Hindi and English, five in Bangla, three in Marathi, and one each in Mising, Kannada, Tamil, Oriya, and Konkani apart from one in Konkani and English.

     

    In the non features films category, the maximum number of films selected, five are in Hindi, three in Malayalam, three in English, two in Marathi, two in Kashmiri and one in Kudukh.
