    DDB Mudra West appoints Ferzad Variyava as group CD

    MUMBAI: DDB Mudra has announced the appointment of Ferzad Variyava as group creative director, DDB Mudra West. Variyava will be based out of the agency’s office in Mumbai.

     

    DDB Mudra West creative head Rahul Mathew said, “Over the last few months, we’ve been rebuilding our creative force here at DDB Mudra West. And Ferzad is yet another stride in that direction. I have always admired his craft as a writer and am sure he’s going to raise the standard, on many counts, for all of us.”

     

    Variyava joins DDB Mudra West from L&K Saatchi & Saatchi, where he worked as executive creative director. With over 13 years of experience, Ferzad has worked on household blue chip brands in banking, media, FMCG, beauty, personal care, travel and telecommunications. With a history of partnering new business wins, he has been mentored by industry legends in senior client and agency relationship management.

    DDB Mudra west appoints Manoj Bhavnani as senior CD

    MUMBAI: Joining DDB Mudra west’s formidable creative force under the leadership of creative head, Rahul Mathew, is Manoj Bhavnani who has joined as senior creative director.

     

    Bhavnani joins DDB Mudra west from Bates India, where he was creative director working on some of the agency’s biggest accounts such as Fiat, Tata AIG and Colgate. He was a part of the RedFuse team, a group created by WPP to exclusively handle the communication duties for Colgate.

     

    With over 11 years of work experience and a degree in Statistics, Bhavnani has also worked with top agencies in the country including FCB Ulka (earlier known as Draft FCB Ulka), Lowe Lintas, Grey Worldwide and Ogilvy & Mather. He has also authored a novel, ‘Screwed!’ which has been published by Penguin in September 2012.

     

    Bhavnani said, “It’s an exciting time to be joining DDB Mudra. The agency has been creating great campaigns that have picked up many awards. Rahul, Rajiv and Sonal have placed their faith in me to keep up the quality of work, and I hope I will repay their faith in the time to come.”

    DDB Mudra ropes in Rahul Mathew as creative head

    MUMBAI: DDB Mudra West has roped in Rahul Mathew to lead the agency’s creative output.

     

    Mathew will partner DDB Mudra West president Rajiv Sabnis and work closely with the group’s chairman and CCO Sonal Dabral, who he will be reporting in to.

    Prior to this, Mathew was with McCann Erikson as the executive creative director. His career spans over 15 years wherein he has worked with some of the leading advertising networks including Ogilvy, JWT, Leo Burnett, Y&R (in Kuala Lumpur and India).

     

    Commenting on his new role, Mathew said, “Few agencies, the world over, can boast of a creative culture the likes of DDB. And to be appointed a custodian of such a celebrated culture is both exciting and frightening.  But with the talented bunch at the agency, Sonal and I hope to make DDB Mudra West one of the brightest stars in the DDB constellation.”

     

    He will be working on clients including Future Group, Volkswagen, Johnson & Johnson, Kalpataru, Hindustan Unilever, Union Bank, Marico, Emirates, Gulf Oil, Godrej, Lavasa, Arvind, Adani Group, CenturyPly, Raj Petro among others among others. Rahul will Rahul joins the DDB Mudra Group from McCann Erickson, where he was the Executive Creative Director of its highly reputed Mumbai office.

    Mathew’s work has been awarded in many forums, both international and local. He has won over 100 awards as the writer and has guided teams to about another 100. These include prestigious awards like Cannes, One Show and Clio; and includes precious metals like Grand Prixs.

     

    In 2013, he was ranked as the eighth most awarded writer by Campaign Asia. While in 2009, Campaign Brief Asia ranked him amongst the 5 most creative people in India. And even more recently, his Western Union Billboard was ranked the most awarded outdoor by the Advertising Age & Creativity 2013 Global Awards report.

    Rahul Mathew quits McCann

    MUMBAI: Rahul Mathew, the executive creative director at McCann Erickson has put in his papers.

     

    Speaking about his association with the company, Mathew says, “McCann is more than just another agency for me. My two stints here account for eight years of my advertising career. It has also helped me shape a lot of my craft. It has not been an easy move to make. It became even more difficult because of the fact that I will also have to leave behind a great art partner in Akshay Kapnadak.”

     

    Mathew has been in the advertising industry for about 15 years. He has been a part of many award winning campaigns that have received acclaim at both domestic and international levels. At McCann, he along with his team has won three Cannes Lions, four One Show pencils, over a dozen Adfest metals and many metals and honours at International award shows.

     

    “But the pride of place on the very crowded mantelpiece belongs to the Grand Prix that the Mumbai office won at the recently concluded Spikes. Even at Goafest 2013, McCann Mumbai was one of the most awarded offices, accounting for a lion’s share of McCann’s metals including a Grand Prix. We also tasted similar success at effectiveness awards, both nationally and internationally,” he says proudly.

     

    Talking about his work at the agency, he adds, “We’ve had great fun creating work on brands like Parachute, ACC, Pears, Western Union and many others. And have managed to fill the creative pool with some rare talent. And thus, there is reassurance that I’m leaving after making a positive impact at the place. And that I leave it in a good place.”

     

    Prior to joining McCann, Mathew was with Rediffusion, Young & Rubicam, Ogilvy (Healthcare), Leo Burnett, JWT, Enterprise Nexus. He has been ranked among the top five creative professionals in India in 2009 by Campaign Brief Asia and was ranked the 8th most awarded copywriter in Asia (as per Haymarket Publications and Campaign Asia) in 2012.

     

    Rahul finds the building and reinventing process a lot more exciting and challenging. And thus, he will look for an opportunity that allows him to do that all over again.
