    MUMBAI: Kishore Ajwani has joined IBN 7 as deputy managing editor. He will work closely with Prabal Pratap Singh and Rahul Joshi.

    It might be recalled that Sumit Awasthi had joined IBN7 as deputy managing editor in 2014. With this hire, the channel now has two executives at the same post. Though, Ajwani will mainly focus on the channel’s output functions.

    Ajwani has been associated with ABP Group for more than eight years and is known amongst the leading anchors in the Hindi news space today. He has also worked with Zee News as deputy executive producer and has also served stints with DD Sports and Leo Burnett.

    Network18 hires Zee Business’ Amish Devgan as executive editor

    MUMBAI: The game of musical chairs in the Indian news TV channel business continues unabated. Over the last couple of months there have been many a high profile resignation and reappointment amongst those delivering news to Indian viewers. The latest to also make a move is  Amish Devgan  who has hopped on board Network18 as executive editor.  

    Devgan will closely work with Network18 news CEO and group editor in chief Rahul Joshi and consulting editor Prabal Pratap Singh. He will use his expertise to devise various strategies and plans for all the Hindi news channels under the group. Network 18 has two Hindi news channels namely IBN7 and CNBC Awaaz.

    With 16 years of journalistic experience, Devgan recently moved out of Zee Media after 14 years. In his last role, he was a prime time anchor and chief editor with Zee Business and hosted the highest TRP gaining show Big Story Big Debate at 8 pm daily. The show included several debates and discussions on various current day-to-day issues across politics, economy, and financial markets with high profile political, corporate guests and experts on camera.

    Devgan started his career with Hindustan Times and joined Zee News in 2002. He later moved to Zee Business in 2005.  He has won several accolades in the past and has successfully created a niche for himself amongst business anchors.

    ET’s Rahul Joshi to join Network18 as group CEO news

    MUMBAI: The flow of top level talent from Bennett, Coleman & Co Ltd (BCCL) continues into the Reliance Industries’ controlled Network 18.

     

    After appointing Radio Mirchi CEO and managing director AP Parigi as Network18 group CEO in January this year, the company has now roped in Economic Times’ editorial director Rahul Joshi as the CEO of news and group editor-in-chief.

     

    A top level executive from Bennett, Coleman & Co Ltd confirmed to Indiantelevison.com that Joshi had indeed put in his papers at the company. 

     

    A source close to the development added, “Through a mail to all the employees of Network18, it was announced that Rahul Joshi will take the position of CEO news and group editor-in-chief. Since there was no one in this position earlier, there is no question of him replacing anyone. The team here is looking forward to working under his guidance.”

     

    Joshi had been serving as editorial director at Economic Times along with Rajrishi Singhal since 2004. However, after Singhal moved to the role of consulting editor in 2006, Joshi was handling the role of editorial director single handedly.

    ET Now elevates Sridharan to executive editor

    MUMBAI: ET Now, the English business news channel from Times Group, has promoted its senior editor – news and trends as executive editor with immediate effect.

    Sridharan fills in the position which was left vacant by Andy Mukherjee who moved to Singapore in September.

    Sridharan joined ET Now in September 2008 and has been instrumental in driving the content of the channel‘s evening band.

    Sridharan will report to Rahul Joshi who looks after the editorial content of both Economic Times and ET Now.

    Times Television Network MD and CEO Sunil Lulla said, “We are delighted to appoint R Sridharan as executive editor of ET Now. With clear visibility as the fastest growing No 2 channel – we now embark on the larger canvas to grow ET Now’s franchise to the next level. I am confident that Sri with his passion, energetic drive and vast experience in the world of business journalism will drive his team and the channel content to ensure viewers make money every day.”

    Sridharan began his career in mainstream media with The Economic Times on its op-ed feature pages. After a three year stint, he joined Business Today in New Delhi as feature writer and worked his way up to become the managing editor of the magazine.

    During his time with Business today, he also held the post of editor of Harvard Business Review South Asia, a facsimile copy of its American edition. He has also worked with The Washington Post in Washington, D.C. as an Alfred Friendly Fellow of 1999.
