    Investigation Discovery launches 100 hours of new content

    MUMBAI: ID – Investigation Discovery, the channel that is dedicated to true stories of investigation, mystery and suspense, is looking at launching close to 100 hours of new content this quarter.  

     

    Targeting afternoon and prime time viewers in the Hindi speaking markets (HSM), ID’s programming will satisfy the inquiring minds with compelling stories.

     

    Content line-up:

     

    ID’s quarter line-up will dial up the viewers’ detective instinct with four mega premieres that include Web of Lies that will allow the viewers to peek into the world of danger and false identities. 

     

    Next up, House of Horror: Kidnapped will have terrifying tales of people who were kidnapped, yet were lucky enough to survive. 

     

    Over My Dead Body will present empowering, action-packed stories of women who were attacked and didn’t just fight back but turned the tables on their enemy and lived to tell the tale; and the true stories of women killers in Deadly Women.

     

    The channel has also roped in television and film actor Rohit Roy to host a show titled Khooni Saaya, which will showcase intriguing stories that have shocked people and changed their lives forever.

    These days, marriages are not always what they look like. The shocking hidden secrets of spouses will be unraveled in the show called Who the (Bleep) did I marry? 

     

    A new show that will explore the seemingly never ending depths of depravity within titled Most Evil and Deadly Sins will also go on air.

    Discovery Channel to telecast ‘The Story of Yoga’ in multiple languages

    MUMBAI: Celebrating the first International Day of Yoga, Discovery Channel will premiere The Story of Yoga, an inspirational voyage into a discipline that embraces a holistic approach to a healthy mind, body and spirit in five Indian languages.

     

    The Story of Yoga will air on 21 June at 9 pm on Discovery Channel in Hindi, English, Tamil, Telegu and Bangla. The show will also simulcast on Discovery HD World.

     

    The hour-long special will take viewers through a fascinating journey to rediscover the age-old practice and explore the evolution, mysticism, spiritualism and cultural ethos of yoga. It will also capture its journey to the West and its emergence into the modern society and popular culture.

     

    Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his address at UN General Assembly, called to mark an International Day of Yoga, which has now been declared to be held every year on 21 June.

    Discovery Channel to launch two new adventure series with Bear Grylls

    MUMBAI: Discovery Channel is all set to launch two new series with iconic survival expert on Indian television Bear Grylls.

     

    The series are The Island With Bear Grylls and Bear Grylls: Breaking Point.

     

    Grylls, the host of Discovery Channel’s series – Man Vs. Wild, has been taking on some of the harshest locations on the planet and sharing invaluable survival strategies along the way. He is back in action – but this time, he won’t be alone as he takes ordinary people on a personal journey to face their fears and survive in some of the most unforgiving environments on the planet.

     

     

    In the series The Island With Bear Grylls, a group of men will be dropped on a desert island in the Pacific. Stripped of all the luxuries and conveniences of modern living, these 13 men will be stepping out of their comfort zones and embarking on an empowering journey. With only the clothes on their backs and some basic tools, they are taken to a remote, uninhabited island, where they are left alone to fend for themselves. Bear puts them to the test in order to answer the question, “Can modern man still survive in the wild?” The Island With Bear Grylls will air every Monday at 10 pm this May.

     

     

    On the other hand, in Bear Grylls: Breaking Point, Grylls helps 12 ordinary people to confront their unique phobias and change their lives forever. Set in the wild in some of the world’s toughest places, these terrified individuals prepare to face the stuff of nightmares – from the common (like rats, insects and heights) to the bizarre (such as trees and foods). Beginning 25 May, the show will air Monday to Friday at 9 pm.

    Meet South Africa with Jonty Rhodes will premiere on 9 May and will air every Saturday at 10 pm on TLC.     The network, which announced the launch of a Hindi entertainment channel ID – Investigation Discovery, TLC HD World and Animal Planet HD World in the previous edition of Goafest, will be presenting its upcoming marquee programmes on Discovery Channel, TLC, Discovery Kids, Animal Planet, TLC HD World and Animal Planet HD World at Goafest to be held from 9-11 April in Goa.

Pilots, crew and passengers will relive their near-death experiences in which routine flights turned into nightmares.

     

    Why Planes Crash will bring alive some of the hair-raising true stories of air crashes imaginable with the aid of shocking archive footage and dramatic animated reconstructions. The series will feature planes colliding mid-air, a corporate jet running into a 737 over the Amazon River, cargo door explosion in a 747 amongst many other air crashes.

    Human Error

     

    Mistakes, oversights and distractions can have consequences. This show features the jet which ran out of fuel and smashed into a hillside just miles from a runway.

     

    Breaking Point

     

    Nine passengers are sucked out of a 747 flying over the Pacific when a cargo door explodes. This is just one of the sudden structural failures in this episode, which also sees a DC-10 lose an engine on take-off!

     

    Fire In The Sky

     

    The Federal Aviation Administration has found that up to three flights out of 100,000 are diverted due to smoke or fire in flight, but the situation is no less dangerous for being commonplace. Witness some of the disastrous consequences in this episode.

    TLC to launch new series – ‘The Taste’

    MUMBAI: Lifestyle channel from Discovery Network’s stable, TLC is all set to air a culinary battle between food writer and television presenter Nigella Lawson, chef and television personality Anthony Bourdain and chef Ludo Lefebvre in the new series The Taste. Starting 2 March, the show will be aired every Monday and Tuesday at 9 pm.

     

    The show will feature 12 competitors from varied backgrounds, cooking dishes in an attempt to impress the three chefs. Three teams of four aspiring chefs are mentored by the trio, where they take on each other to survive the extreme fight to be the first winner of The Taste.
