    Mouse house monsoon magic as Disney Jr. tour hits Mumbai stage

    MUMBAI: Grab your umbrellas and your little ones, this monsoon, Mumbai’s forecast is full of magic, music, and mouse ears. For the very first time, Disney Jr. Live On Tour: Let’s Play! is set to charm preschoolers and their families with a spectacular stage production from 4th to 6th July 2025 at the Dome, SVP Stadium, with eight exclusive shows over the weekend. The show is ticketed exclusively on District by Zomato, with pre-sales already creating quite the buzz.

    The high-energy, interactive concert will bring Mickey Mouse, Minnie, Ariel, Team Spidey, SuperKitties, and Puppy Dog Pals to life with 3D effects, acrobatics, and a setlist packed with singalongs like Hot Dog! and Do the Spidey. The story unfolds around Mickey’s playdate gone awry, thanks to some mysterious green weather and the arrival of Marvel’s mini superheroes to save the day.

    “After delighting audiences across the U.S. and marking its official international debut in London, we are so excited to share this magical production with families in Mumbai this summer,” said Terrapin Station Entertainment producer Jonathan Shank.

    The full schedule includes:

       * 4 July (Friday): 4 am, 7 pm

      * 5 July (Saturday): 11:30 am, 2:30 PM, 5:30 pm

       * 6 July (Sunday): 11:30 am, 2:30 PM, 5:30 pm

    An exclusive pre-sale for HSBC India cardholders is live until 29 May, 12 pm, followed by general ticket access at 1 pm the same day, only on the District app.

    MUMBAI: That the food delivery and tech megacorp Zomato has big ambitions in the live space became apparent when it acquired PayTM’s Insider ticketing business for Rs 20,480 million. It That move  gave it instant access to a platform as well as data around a few million customers who were using it which would make it easier for it provide them further services, including live events and going out experiences.

    Now the company has hired Kunal Khambhati, the former head of live events and intellectual property at BookMyShow. The recruitment has happened just as Zomato is gearing up to launch its long-talked-about going out app, District, that will serve users looking for restaurant bookings, payments, live performances, sports events, staycations and holiday rentals. Khambhati’s role will be to look after the live entertainment vertical of the app. 

    He has oodles of experience under his belt: he played a big hand in live events and IP for nearly eight years, across India, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka. Before this, he had held the position of associate vice-president – marketing strategy & sales at Percept for nearly 10 years.  He is a 2006 graduate of the Indian Institute of Planning and Management. 

    At Zomato, Khambhati is most likely expected to work alongside former Twitter exec Rahul Ganjoo and Pradyot Ghate (spent several years in Zomato across product, tech and growth) who will lead the District app. 

    Zomato  had hired Zeenah Vilcassim as CEO of its live entertainment division last year from Bacardi where she  was the marketing director of  India. 

    When District launches, Zomato will have three apps – Zomato, (food delivery), Blinkit (grocery delivery ) and District (going out).

    That’s not all:  Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal wants to take Zomato live into the stadium space as well, partnering with those who are willing and upgrading the infrastructure. 

    The execs at Zomato live are sure going to have their hands full.

    Mumbai: In a sundry of exits at Zomato, Mohit Gupta has put in his papers as co-founder.  He had been with the food delivery company for about four and a half years.

    Gupta’s departure marks the third high-profile departure from Zomato. Earlier this week, the food delivery major’s head of new businesses and former food delivery chief Rahul Ganjoo, had put in his papers. Also, Siddharth Jhawar, who held the position of vice president of global growth and head of the Intercity Legends service at Zomato, called it a day.

    Gupta joined Zomato in 2018 as the head of food delivery. He was subsequently elevated to co-founder in 2021 to oversee new businesses when Ganjoo was made the CEO of food delivery. Before joining the food delivery major, Gupta was the chief operating officer of travel portal Makemytrip. He has also worked at PepsiCo during his career.

    Kamayani Sadhwani, a director at Zomato-owned quick commerce company Blinkit, has taken over from Jhawar as the head of the Intercity Legends service. Prior to taking on the role at Blinkit earlier this year, Sadhwani has also worked at Coca-Cola India, Bain, Accenture, and McKinsey.

    Snapdeal appoints Twitter’s Rahul Ganjoo as vice president – technology

    MUMBAI: Snapdeal has appointed Rahul Ganjoo as vice president in its technology team. In his new role, Ganjoo will augment the company’s efforts to enhance customer experience across various Snapdeal platforms. He will also focus on program management and help build the most innovative tech company in the world.

     

    Prior to his appointment at Snapdeal, Ganjoo has spent more than two years at Twitter where he worked on solving high visibility problems such as large scale spam and targeted abuse. He was working out of the company’s headquarters in San Francisco, USA.

     

    Ganjoo also worked on evangelising agile practices across engineering teams. His previous stints were with companies like Six Apart, Symantec, Thoughtworks and Wipro Technologies, where he built program management teams, led the execution of large scale programs and instituted processes to make engineering organisations more effective.

     

    Snapdeal co-founder Rohit Bansal said, “We are very excited to have Rahul on-board. He comes with 15 years of rich experience across various domains with his last stint being Twitter, a consumer facing high-decibel platform.
