    Mumbai: News18 Kannada proudly announces ‘Rising Karnataka’ an initiative aimed at fostering thought leadership and critical conversations within the state. The event will take place on 25 November 2023, at 4 pm at the Conrad Bengaluru. ‘Rising Karnataka’ promised to bring together eminent decision-makers, leaders, and orators to explore the potential of Karnataka.

    Mentioned below are the key sessions and panels to be included at the event –

    Karnataka Model – Chief Minister of Karnataka Sidhramaiah, will share insights about the state model, which will be followed by a detailed question and answer session.

    Brand Bengaluru – The panel will consist of distinguished panelists that include deputy chief minister of Karnataka DK Shivakumar; actor Dr. Shivarajkumar & Karnataka State Vision Group chairman & Accel founding partner Prashanth Prakash who will be discussing the essence of Brand Bengaluru.

    Kannada for the next 50 years – featuring music composer Raghu Dixit; Banavasi Balaga president Anand G; and actor Daali Dhananjay this session will delve into the future of Kannada language and culture.

    Women in the development of the State – The panel consists of notable figures such as Minister of Women and Child Development  Lakshmi Hebbalkar; actress Ranjani Raghavan; and Airra Academy Founder & Chairman Amitha Prakash who will be discussing the role of women in shaping Karnataka’s future.

    Faith & spirituality in the Development of the State: Shri Shri Nirmalananda Swamiji from Adichunchanagiri Mutt will be seen providing insights on the spiritual dimension of Karnataka’s development

    Future Karnataka Panel: Priyank Kharge, Minister of IT-BT, Rural Development, and Panchayat Raj, Rohit MA , co-founder & director, Cloudnine group of Hospitals and Vivekananda H R, co-founder & CEO, Bounce will lead discussions on the future trajectory of Karnataka

    MUMBAI: Network18, India’s most diversified news network is all set to launch a refreshing musical anthem for the platform’s notable – ‘India Hoga Clean’ campaign. The popular initiative that encourages citizens to keep their city clean has now found its musical voice in the renowned singer – Raghu Dixit, who is known for presenting Indian folk fusion with rock music. Raghu with his team has composed a special anthem for this campaign in his signature style that will resonate with the millennial population. 

    On this musical launch, Raghu Dixit expressed, “This is an issue that is close to our hearts. We would love to do our bit and while we will strive along with this campaign to make a difference in our neighbourhoods, we would also love to cause a greater impact. I would love to believe that when this song is being played or hummed, everyone listening is stirred into action, we will be able to make a giant difference to our country’s cleanliness.”

    With the current generation shaping the future of the country, it is imperative to reinforce the message of a clean country. The anthem intends to communicate this message in a way only music can and awaken the conscious thought amongst the citizens of the country to play their part.

    The campaign has already garnered attention from the masses and has motivated and inspired citizens to keep their environment clean. This initiative was started with a series of on-air episodes which highlighted the spirit of Good Samaritans, who proactively came forward and took up the responsibility to maintain hygiene in their respective cities. With their stories being highlighted, they began to get social media traction and could further leverage their reach to take the cause forward and reach out to people from different areas in their city. Under the ‘India Hoga Clean’ campaign, cleanliness drives were conducted in schools of Mumbai by these Good Samaritans in their respective cities. 

    The campaign will culminate on 23rd March, 2018 in Mumbai. At the event, citizens who have made remarkable contributions through their noble acts for the initiative will be felicitated.

    MUMBAI: Live video app #fame announced the launch of Round 2 of Closeup Websinger.  This round will see Raghu Dixit as the theme mentor and Pritam Chakraborty, who makes his digital debut, as a maha mentor. The theme of Round 2 is folk fusion as the theme. Closeup Websinger is about sourcing the next big voice of Bollywood from the web.  

     

    Closeup Websinger consists of five rounds and the winner of each round with different themes will then compete for the ultimate title of the Bollywood Singing Jodi. The show also brings together some of the biggest names in the Bollywood music industry. Ace music composer, Pritam will be seen grooming and guiding the budding talent along with theme mentors; Raghu Dixit, Benny Dayal, Aditi Singh Sharma and Monali Thakur. Unlike other talent shows, the judges here will mentor the talented participants and hone their talent further to make them Bollywood ready.

     

    Commenting on the hunt for the next folk fusion talent, Dixit said, “Folk as a genre forms an imperative part of Bollywood music. Through Closeup Websinger, I am searching for an artist that has a perfect blend of Folk and Bollywood music in the voice.”  

     

    This show has already announced the 12 semifinalists who will compete against each other to make it to the top 6 finalists. This was through a meticulous screening by Dixit and Pritam. The Top 6 finalists will then perform live every day on #fame – an app, to build their social following. They will sing, interact, and take requests from their fans and music lovers, thus getting their fans to follow them on the app.  The finalists will urge their fans to like, share and comment their videos, etc, thus increasing their social scoring and chances to win the final battle.

    MUMBAI: It’s set to change the indie scene in India. The announcement of the launch of the ambitious indie channel – Pepsi MTV Indies from the Viacom 18 group was made amid much fanfare last month. However, the launch date was kept a secret. Now, MTV India EVP & Business Head Aditya Swamy reveals that the channel may go on air pretty soon.

     

    On the sidelines of the launch of MTV Films on Saturday, Swamy revealed: “The test run for Pepsi MTV Indies started on Monday, 3 March and will continue for the next two weeks.”

     

    Continuing further, he said that in all probability the channel should reach the audiences by the weekend starting 15 March.

     

    The feed for the channel is being beamed off from the satellite Measat 3. Swamy informs that all the operators are on board for the distribution of the channel. However, he didn’t reveal the pricing of the channel.

     

    Talking about the content, Swamy stated that there are plans to use Pepsi MTV Indies as platform to discover independent artists, find their unique sounds, their independent music and their expose it to the mainstream audience of MTV. “For example, you will find Vishal Dadlani’s Pentagram on Pepsi MTV Indies, but the music of Vishal-Shekhar will be on MTV. Similarly, you will find The Raghu Dixit Project on Pepsi MTV Indies, but you’ll hear the compositions of Raghu Dixit for Bewakoofiyaan on MTV,” he said.

    MTV and Rayban collaborate for upcoming bands

    MUMBAI: Upcoming bands that are looking at getting more audiences hooked to their songs got a boost with MTV India’s partnership with Rayban on a nationwide contest called MTV Rayban Never Hide Sounds. Five best bands across Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata got a chance to get mentorship from renowned musicians like Raghu Dixit, Benny Dayal, UdayBenegal, Harshdeep Kaur and Shilpa Rao.

    Genres such as sufi, rock, folk and pop were included in the contest. The five bands – Parvaaz, Rang, Frisky, Pints, Life and Nasya got a chance to collaborate on their mentors’ best tracks. The end result was a gig in each city of the bands with their mentors on their original tracks as well.

    Speaking about the initiative, MTV India EVP and business head Aditya Swamy said, “Every young musician needs a mentor to go to the next level and this initiative does just that. Bringing together talent from two different generations has been an incredible experience and I look forward to this becoming a calendar event on the Indian music scene. It’s been an absolute pleasure working hand in hand with Ray Ban in building new talent and giving them a platform to take their music to the people.”

    Ray-Ban emerging markets business manager Shirley Gong said, “Ray-Ban Never Hide Sounds is an initiative to put forth upcoming talent.  This year we were set out to search the most unique and talented voices across various genres of Music. I am delighted to see that this approach has brought a brand new dimension to the latest edition and we have successfully completed this musical journey.”

    The Mumbai leg of the tour was on 30 November at Hard Rock Café in Andheri.
