In Vir Das – The Most Epic Max Show, Das will take on seemingly impossible and new challenges, pushing his boundaries and trying different things. “Shows on Snapchat are designed to both inform and entertain: created to reflect and celebrate the diverse voices, experiences and passions of the global community of Snapchatters. Snap’s unique original programming is locally nuanced for the Indian viewers. We’re thrilled to launch these two new Creator shows – each one a window into the lives of some of India’s most popular creators,” said head of Snap Originals, Vanessa Guthrie.

  • Just Human Things and Qyuki launch ‘Overtime’

Just Human Things and Qyuki launch ‘Overtime’

MUMBAI: What would happen if aliens took over the world and two employees who hate each other and tired of their daily routine are stuck with each other inside their office? Just Human Things along with Qyuki presents Overtime, India’s first ever a rib-tickling tale on alien invasion and about how the end of the world can either bring unlikely people together or tear humanity apart. The five-episode series will release on 29 January and is promised to be a laugh riot! Written and directed by Ashwin Lakshmi Narayan, this horror-comedy series features Ramya Saxena– lead coder- and Manoj Bhardwaj– the intern essayed by Ronjini Chakraborty and Harsh Mayar respectively.

‘Overtime’ revolves around two IT employees who try to survive the horror of the outside world as well as survive each other. As human civilization nears it disastrous fate, Manoj, an intern and his not-so-cooperative boss Ramya are left with no option but to stay inside their office and tolerate each other. What follows are moments of humor and uncertainty as both of them explore ways to endure their encounters with mundane tasks as aliens take on planet Earth.

Speaking on the release of India’s first ever Alien Invasion Office comedy, Director Ashwin Lakshmi Narayan says, “Sid and I were thinking of doing something around aliens for a while. It was just a matter of understanding the budgets we had, the audience that only knows Jadoo as an alien, and bearing both in mind making something cool and fun. And then one fine day the idea struck. I thought that if an alien attack were to happen, I would never leave my home or space. If I were to go out into the real world, I will die, the aliens will eat me or looking at them I would surrender. As in why do all movies or shows have these people fighting these creatures. Why not make a show where they are just constantly avoiding them and at the same time dealing with problems like living without Wi-Fi, electricity, entertainment, food and so much more. Will a vegetarian become non veg to survive? Will I do drugs knowing I’m going to die tomorrow? Such things became fun to explore. In the end I think we all came together to try and make a very Indian show, with a western influence.”

Overtime co-producer and Just Human Things founder Sidhanta Mathur shares, “For years I’ve wanted to see a dystopian world in India. I’m heavily inspired by what if situations and how regular people will be affected by it. The idea for an alien invasion being the backdrop is to see what I would do. What would I eat? Would I survive? I think the idea of this while scary is ridiculously funny and we have tried to achieve that balance with Overtime”.

India’s first disaster comedy, Overtime is about Alien Invasion and those people who want to survive and reinvent themselves as the world nears its end. It is about how there is always a ray of hope and a way to move forward even when humanity may not see another tomorrow.

Rolling Stone India and Qyuki have been early supporters and stakeholders in India’s hip-hop ecosystem from its fledgling days, and with #HaqSeHipHop, both endeavor to give the diverse hip-hop voices in India a definitive mouthpiece they can claim as their own.

Long before hip-hop attracted mainstream attention, Rolling Stone India consistently employed its editorial platform to promote talent and report every development in the scene — the magazine was the first to famously feature emerging hip-hop talent on its cover in 2016, following it up with another cover in 2019.

Says Nirmika Singh, Executive Editor, Rolling Stone India, “The #HaqSeHipHop property is our way of honoring the hard work, hustle and hope in hip-hop. We are at the cusp of a music revolution in India and its biggest impact is currently being witnessed in hip-hop. As curators of pop culture, we want to tell as many compelling stories as possible – via podcasts, gigs and masterclasses.”

As India’s premier digital media enterprise, Qyuki’s contribution in nurturing budding hip-hop talent is unparalleled. Together with Universal Music, it is the co-founder of The Dharavi Dream Project(TDDP), a non-profit committed to the promotion of music and arts, which runs the After-School of Hip-Hop, Asia’s largest hip-hop institution where under-resourced artists are equipped with knowledge and skills of rap, bboying, beatboxing, DJing and graffiti.

Samir Bangara, Co-Founder & MD, Qyuki, says, “Since the birth of hip-hop in the late Seventies, its form and meaning have always been challenged and redefined by artists. To preserve the true spirit of expression as a birthright, we conceived ‘Haq Se’ (by right) which specifically promotes independent hip-hop talent. Our investment in promoting local hip-hop started with The Dharavi Dream Project six years ago along with Universal Music Group and with #HaqSeHipHop, we want to widen the platform and nurture the incredible diversity in the genre from across the country.”

“Just Human Things” & Qyuki launch ‘Minus One’; A quirky story that humanizes your ex

MUMBAI: ‘Minus One’ is a quirky web series co-produced by Writeous Studios & Qyuki Digital, powered by POPxo, featuring Ayush Mehra and Aisha Ahmed. The story revolves around Riya (Aisha) and Varun (Ayush) who live-in together after a break-up and create a life that is perfect for them but difficult for the world to accept. Directed by Shubham Yogi along with creator Sidhanta Mathur and writer Aakash Bhojwani, Minus One aims to capture the hearts of everyone.

The six-episode series that is approximately 15 minutes each is unique in its treatment while encapsulating the emotions involved with relationships between exes and how it affects people in their circle. The series premiered on the Just Human Things, a YouTube channel that presents content as a showcase of optimism at its finest and promulgates the belief that life isn’t so bad after all!

Talking about the experience Ayush Mehra Shares, “Minus one was to date the best experience of my life! I absolutely loved working with the director Shubham Yogi and producer Sidhanta Mathur who went out of their way to make each moment feel special. My co-star Aisha is a gem to work with and I could not have asked for a better opportunity to showcase my talent. Thanks to Just Human Things and Qyuki, I feel like I have a found a tribe that I will be associated with, for life”

Speaking about the series Aisha Ahmed Shares, “Minus one has been the warmest set experience, to come together and create something with love and happiness. I hope that everyone will love it as much as we do!”

Talking about creating this quirky web series Sidhanta Mathur  Creator & Producer of Minus One says, “To tell a story about exes who live together was never the point, their friendship was. And that’s the optimism of it and this is the kind of story we want to tell on Just Human Things with a fresh and unique take. Being my first under my company’s banner, putting it all together was one of the most exciting but nerve-wracking experiences. Qyuki came on board as a co-producer and from there, things kicked off amazingly. We got a brilliant cast and crew who all came together because they really loved the idea of the show!  We truly worked together as a family to make sure we create a series that stands out and we are thrilled that our viewers have given it so much love”.

Speaking about his directorial experience Shubham Yogi Creator & Director of Minus One says, “Minus Ones is what my friends called me and my ex-girlfriend turned flatmate. Although we never saw ourselves as revolutionaries, everyone who met us during those years definitely thought us odd. Sometimes people judged us, and sometimes they reflected on their relationships with their exes. Out of these experiences came the idea for Minus One. And Sid was one of the first people to hear it. From that short discussion 3 years, Sid and I always knew that we would try and bring this story to life someday. Aisha & Ayush took to the characters with ease, and soon into the shooting schedule, I found them improvising to better our vision. From Sid's belief in the idea to the entire production crew coming together and giving it life, this has been a blessed journey.”

  • #Qyukistars rank No.1 and 3 in Youtube’s Fastest Growing List

#Qyukistars rank No.1 and 3 in Youtube’s Fastest Growing List

MUMBAI: Digital Broadcast Network and Agency Qyuki, driven by a unique strategy of partnering with creators versus an aggregation or ‘owned and operated’ channel approach, recently surpassed over 5 billion views across YouTube and Facebook.

With a creator DNA in the founding team of Shekhar Kapur and AR Rahman and digital entrepreneur Samir Bangara, the Company has created a clear leadership position in the market as a home for creators across the genres of Music, Pranks and Auto blogs while making headway in other popular genres.

The strategy has been vindicated by YouTube’s recent list of top ten fastest growing channels in the country that ranked Qyuki partners Sanam Band (Music) and FunkYou (Pranks) No.1 and No.3 respectively. The genre based focus of the company has also helped bring on board celebrated Bollywood and indie artists like Salim-Sulaiman, Clinton Cerejo, Dhruv Ghanekar and most recently Rabbi Shergill.

Its differentiated approach and successful track record in the space led to a recently announced partnership with YouTube to create one of the biggest digital properties in India called Jammin. Jammin will bring together some of the best Bollywood composers with the biggest YouTube stars of music. The show begins online and finishes offline with a massive live performance.

Beyond music the Company is home to some of the biggest Prank channels, a genre that is very popular with the 13-34 millennial audiences, with FunkYou emerging as the largest prank channel in the country across Facebook and YouTube. The group of four 19 year old boys has grown 1000 times on Facebook with more than 5.6 million fans amassed over the last 10 months and a following across the world with Cairo, Metro Manila, Lahore and Karachi forming part of their top ten cities of viewership.

While content is king, Qyuki believes that in the digital space technology can serve as a very successful ‘kingmaker’. Therefore it has built proprietary tools to spot and effectively market creators to their respective communities. The mix of technology, deep understanding in content, and marketing has helped win the confidence of several brands like Coca-Cola, Olx, VW, Moneycontrol and Mercedes, amongst others, to invest significantly with the company on branded content or as sponsors for Qyuki properties.

Shekhar Kapur, Co-founder Qyuki said, “Everyone is born creative, we just forget that in our daily lives. By helping creators achieve their creative ambitions, Qyuki is fulfilling a dream I had years ago.”
AR Rahman, Co-founder Qyuki noted “In the digital world of excessive clutter Qyuki curates and offers a platform for promising artists and improves the audience experience.”

Speaking on the occasion Samir Bangara, Co-founder and MD, Qyuki said, “We are building a new form of a media conglomerate that can power creators with technology, production and marketing across multiple platforms and genres in order to build business models that begin on digital but spread across TV, Live and Theatrical”
