    PVR opens its 101st theatre in Hubli

    NEW DELHI: PVR Cinemas has crossed the century mark with its 101st property in Hubli in Karnataka. With this, the company has reached a count of 444 screens in 43 cities in the country.

     

    Since PVR’s inception of its first theatre in Saket, New Delhi, the company has grown exponentially in the Indian market. In the first quarter of FY 2014-15, PVR opened 23 screens across Ludhiana, Mangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmadabad and Hubli.

     

    PVR chairman and MD Ajay Bijli said, “This is a great moment for us. PVR today has over 100 properties reaching 43 cities across the country.     PVR Cinemas ropes in Dharmesh Datta

    MUMBAI: PVR Cinemas has appointed Dharmesh Datta as vice president for its alternate content vertical. He commenced his new role from 23 June 2014 and will be based out of Mumbai.

     

    Datta brings with him an experience of over 16 years, having worked in organisations such as Wizcraft International Entertainment, Lintas India, The Times of India Group, Network18 (TV18 Group) and Endemol India. At PVR, he will focus on developing and executing a strategy to stimulate ‘event cinema’ i.e. alternate content initiative.

The movie has been critically acclaimed with 5 Academy Award nominations including Best Picture.     Sanjay Kapoor joins PVR Board as Director

    NEW DELHIPVR Cinemas, the largest cinema exhibition company in India, has announced the appointment of Sanjay Kapoor as the Director on the Board of PVR with effect from 31 January.

     

    Sanjay brings with him expertise and understanding to the rapidly growing and changing Indian market. With an experience of close to three decades, global business acumen, perspective and intelligence, Sanjay will advise the PVR Company to achieve greater milestones.

    Kapoor’s leadership extended well beyond the confines of Airtel and he elevated himself as an industry spokesperson globally. For more than 13 years he has played an active role in various industry forums like CII, COAI and NASSCOM. He has been a Board & Executive committee member of GSMA and the Board member of Indus Towers. Presently, Sanjay is a board member of Bennett, Coleman & Co.

     

    Kapoor holds an MBA from Cranfield School of Management (UK) and is a Graduate of The Wharton Advanced Management Program. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Commerce ( Hons ) from Delhi University.

    NEW DELHI: PVR Cinemas, the largest cinema exhibition company in India, announces the opening of the PVR Oscar Film Festival in India, starting from 31st January till 6th February 2014.     HDFC ERGO’s launches unique on-ground activation

    MUMBAI: HDFC ERGO General Insurance, India’s 4th largest private sector general insurance company, recently executed an innovative multiplex campaign which was a mix of online & on-ground activation at PVR Cinemas. The campaign was focused on HDFC ERGO’s Motor Insurance policy which can be bought or renewed through the company’s mobile website anytime, anywhere.

     

    This unique activation was executed during the opening weekend of Amir Khan starer blockbuster – Dhoom 3 screening at PVR Cinemas. The concept saw a person from the audience surprisingly walking into the big screen and coming back  to his seat enjoying the movie with other audience.

     

    Storyboard:

     

    On the onset of the ad, a host on big screen reads out a car number to find out the owner, and invite him on-screen to discuss something important. One of the guy in the audience identifies the said car number as his car and he walks towards the big screen. Suddenly audience sees him on the big screen with the host.  He is than reminded about his motor insurance policy which will lapse in a matter of hours and how he instantly renewed it with the help of HDFC ERGO’s mobile website.
     

    HDFC ERGO managed to perfectly synchronize the entire activation with the live crowd present at the cinema hall, capturing all natural audience reactions which holds the thrill.

     

    The campaign immediately caught the audience attention while simultaneously delivering its core message of renewing motor insurance policy instantly on HDFC ERGO mobile website. The campaign, once uploaded, immediately went viral and managed to garner an incredible 7.14 Lacs hits in 7 days on youtube.

    MUMBAI: Blue Jasmine was to release last weekend in India but the hope was denied as director Woody Allen refused to comply with anti-tobacco norms in the country. According to the Indian government rule, anti-tobacco ads are displayed before movies are screened and a text message is inserted while a smoking scene is taking place on screen, for all Indian as well as foreign movies.

    The movie was to be released by PVR cinemas. According to a statement made by PVR Pictures COO Deepak Sharma, Allen is said to have told that when the message is shown, the audience’s attention is diverted to it rather than to the scene.

    Blue Jasmine is a critically acclaimed movie that stars Cate Blanchett as a wealthy socialite who is struggling to fit into reality once her husband is caught for financial fraud.

    Previously, another movie faced release issues – The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo – due to censor board wanting to delete a few scenes from the movie.

  • PVR opens its third multiplex in Kolkata

    PVR opens its third multiplex in Kolkata

    PVR Cinemas launched its third multiplex in Kolkata, spread across an area of 42,000 square feet (sqft) with a total capacity of 1,146 seats on Friday. The five-screen multiplex at Diamond Mall, Jassore Road, is likely to give an overwhelming response to the company.

     

    With this property, the cinema exhibition company has reached a screen count of 13 screens at three different locales of the Kolkata city, with its existing ones at Avani Mall, Diamond Mall and Mani Square.

     

    The opening of the latest multiplex has increased the total screen count of PVR to 398 screens in 92 cinemas in 37 cities across India.

     

    “PVR has spread its presence at three different locations in the city for easy accessibility by the movie goers.” said PVR chief operating officer Gautam Dutta.

     

    It is learnt that the multiplex also boasts of 2K ‘Christie’ digital projection, 7.1 surround sound, 3D enabled screens and three-way JBL speakers in order to offer an unmatched movie experience to the movie lovers of the city.

    PVR Director’s Rare to release Chaurahen on 16 March

    MUMBAI: PVR Director‘s Rare, the recently launched alternative programming initiative of PVR Cinemas, will release Rajshree Ojha’s Chaurahen (Crossroads) on 16 March.

    Chaurahen is an evocative and poignant film consisting of three separate stories set in three different cities in contemporary India. The vignettes present snippets of everyday life. There is a troubled adulterous affair in Kolkata, a family dealing loss of a son in Kochi and a young man in Mumbai dealing with memories of his ancestral home.

    The crossroads at which their lives are at render heartfelt situations between characters that create empathy. The film is presented in English language with Rajshree Ojha‘s inimitable, stark visual story telling style.

    Said PVR Ltd. joint managing director Sanjeev Kumar Bijli, “I feel extremely proud that our second movie under the PVR Director‘s Rare Banner is releasing on March 16th this year and it will be released exclusively at select PVR Cinemas.
