    Pramod Arora becomes Director in Carnival Cinemas, confident of 1000 screens by next year

    MUMBAI: Pramod Arora, who has vast experience in the film and financial fields, has joined as Director of Carnival Cinemas, the Carnival Group has announced.

    Arora joins Carnival Cinemas from Everstone Capital Advisors Pvt Ltd where as a Director he helped steer consumer facing businesses of the company. Earlier, he spent 18 years at PVR Cinemas as their Group President. He has also served as the Chief Operating Officer at Oberoi Realty and was instrumental in the growth strategy of the company in various real estate asset classes.

    Carnival Group chairman Dr. Shrikant Bhasi said, “I am extremely confident in Pramod’s capabilities and am positive that he will add immense value to our cinema business. He will play a pivotal role in ensuring that we accomplish Carnival’s vision of 1000 screens by 2017.”

    Arora said on his appointment, “I am excited to be a part of the Carnival family and witness yet another revolution in the making from Shrikant! I look forward to the challenge of executing Carnival’s vision of a 1000 screens by 2017. My mandate is put the growth of Carnival Cinemas on the fast track and make Carnival Cinemas one of the most preferred brands in India and I am confident that we will execute our plans well.”

    He added: “In the past, I have held executive positions where I helped develop cinemas for classes. Carnival Cinemas is the only enterprise forging ahead and creating cinemas for the masses. As an independent Director, I also look forward to learn, guide and mentor the team and together with our CEO PV Sunil, we will strive to make Shrikant’s audacious dream of 1000 screens a reality.”

    Arora is credited with expanding the Delhi based company PVR Cinemas with a single multiplex four-screen company to a powerhouse of 500 screens by means of organic growth and acquisitions.

    Carnival Cinemas acquired Anil Ambani’s Big Cinemas in December 2014. The Group also acquired Glitz Cinemas, which was a part of Capital 18; a subsidiary of Mukesh Ambani’s Network 18 Media in 2015 and acquired HDIL’s multiplex chain Broadway Cinema.

    Carnival Cinemas has presence in 19 states including Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Telengana, Uttarakhand and Chandigarh.

    MUMBAI: PVR Cinema has launched a new six-screen multiplex at Vaishnavi Sapphire Mall, Yashwantpur in Bangalore.

    PVR Cinemas CEO Gautam Dutta said, “We are very excited about this brand new property. The cinema would be a new hub of entertainment for the residents in the nearby vicinity. Also, with the wide range of programming mix provided at the box office and the vast offerings of food and beverages at the property, we ensure to provide a wholesome family entertainment outing to our patrons.” 

    Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the cinema also has Christie digital projection; 3D enabled screens along with Dolby digital 7.1 surround sound system.

    PVR expands into South India with second multiplex in Chennai

    MUMBAI: PVR Cinemas has expanded its presence in South India by launching its second multiple property in Chennai.

     

    The five-screen multiplex is at The Grand Mall, Velachery in Chennai. The company’s first multiple in Chennai is at the Ampa Mall.

     

    With this, PVR now has a a screen count of 482 screens at 108 properties pan India across 44 cities. In southern India, PVR now has 110 screens in 17 properties.

     

    The newly launched property in the region is spread over an area of 50,000 sq ft with a capacity of 1275 seats.

     

    PVR Cinema CEO Gautam Dutta said, “We have received an overwhelming response from the audience here and we ore even more enthusiastic to launch our second multiplex in Chennai. South is on essential market and we have made constant endeavours to reach out to the movie lovers in the city. We have left no stones unturned to bring them an experience filled with convenience, comfort and the best cinematic experience.”

     

    The opening of this multiplex has been designed understanding the market and every other aspect of cinema viewing in Chennai. The artwork in the foyer is a collage of iconic conversations from movies that defined trends in Kollywood; it is a tribute to Tamil cinema.

     

    The cinema also boasts of 2K Christie Digital projection, Dolby Digital 7.1 surround sound, 3D enabled screens and state-of-the-art technology.

    Maldives to woo Indian tourists with ad campaign across PVR Cinemas

    MUMBAI: The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has tied up with PVR Cinemas across India for a two-week video campaign that will run in all major cinema halls of the PVR auditoriums.

     

    The promotion has been timed around the beginning of the summer holiday season in India to catch the attention of the holidaymakers; and during the release of films like Piku and Bombay Velvet.

     

    The Maldives clip will be shown across PVR properties in New Delhi, Gurgaon, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata.

     

    MMPRC deputy managing director Mohamed Adam said, “India remains one of the largest source markets for us and we are confident that this new video campaign in PVR cinema halls will enable us to reach out to the target audience. Maldives is a destination that offers a complete experience be it gourmet food, water activities, relaxation on the beach or world-class spa experience. So whether it is for a honeymoon, a family holiday or just an extended weekend getaway – there is something for everyone.”

     

    Indians made up 3.8 per cent of the visitors to the Maldives up to December 2014. A total of 45,587 visitors from India visited Maldives last year, which is a growth of 19.9 per cent compared to year 2013. Maldives offers free visa on arrival for all nationalities, which is a further incentive for the Indian traveler to visit Maldives.

     

    2015 will see a focus from MMPRC to participate in more consumer driven activities designed to reach out to all segments of the Indian traveler and will see a continued focus to jointly working with all other partners to further increase the number of Indians visiting Maldives.

    MUMBAI: Bharti Airtel has launched an all new avatar of its ‘My Airtel’ mobile application. The application has been redesigned on Android to follow an intuitive and easy to use interface, which allows customers to conveniently discover, access and self-manage Airtel services across mobile, fixed line and DTH platforms.

     

    The new version of the ‘My Airtel’ application also comes loaded with a wide range of fresh features and capabilities and fits within the company’s wider agenda of driving an enhanced digital experience for customers. The new ‘My Airtel’ application is now available for select users and will be rolled out for all customers over the next few days.

     

    “With design simplicity, intuitive commerce flows and high performance as our priorities, we at Airtel have been working towards re-energizing the experience our customers enjoy while interacting with us through our online properties.     In partnership with mydala, a coupon and discount marketing platform present in 200 cities in India, ‘Airtel Surprises’ will leverage a series of exclusive tie-ups with merchants across categories like shopping, food, wellness, entertainment – and offer coupons for popular brands like PVR Cinemas, Café Coffee Day, Flipkart.com. amazon.in, Ebay.in, Myntra.com, Archies, VLCC, among others.

     

    Additionally, the newly added ‘I Want To’ feature will allow customers to make their frequent tasks (e.g. recharge of a specific prepaid mobile number) a quick action on their application’s home screen.

     

    The in-application payment experience and card store feature have now been upgraded and Airtel’s payment stack is now PCI-DSS certified to ensure a safe, secure and faster check out experience for customers across My Airtel and also the PC and mobile web experiences. Push notifications with alerts such as low balance, pack expiry and payment due date will also be available on the app. Additionally, customers on ‘My Airtel’ will not incur any data charges for using the application.

     

    Betting big on delivering an improved online experience for its customers – the company has already launched a new fast-loading homepage for its website www.airtel.in, a new 4G experience at www.airtel.in/4G and an omni-channel experience to order a brand new Xiaomi RedMi 4G atwww.airtel.in/mi. Airtel is currently focused at re-engineering its online experience to ensure improved interfaces, reduced load time, payment failures etc.

    MUMBAI: Theatre chain PVR Cinemas has opened a new four-screen multiplex in Hubli, Karnataka, taking its total screens in the state to 51 across its seven properties.

     

    The new theatre has a distinct design and is equipped with 2K digital projections, 7.1 channel sound and is 3D enabled with large screens, comfortable seating and a wide range of food and beverages.

     

    “We look forward to entertaining a wide spectrum of audiences by offering them more comfort and convenience, greater engagement and loyalty, premium sight and sound and a variety of movies with targeted programming,” said PVR CEO Gautam Dutta.

     

    PVR joint chairman-managing director Sanjeev Kumar Bijli added, “PVR taps the tier-II and tier-III cities as well and envisions providing the people of Hubli with the best.”

     

    PVR launched its multiplex in Hubli with an aim to target the twin cities of Hubli- Dharwad, which hosts over three lakh students. Moreover, the city is also emerging as an educational and industrial hub of the country.

     

    With this launch, PVR now operates 462 screens in 104 properties in 44 cities across India.

    MUMBAI:  The countdown is picking up as Hollywood fans gear for the big night. On 23 February , starting 5 30 am these fans in India wil be able to witness witness  the glamour on the biggest stage of Hollywood – The Oscars.

     

     The awards can be watched  live on Star Movies and one  could be on their way to the Oscars 2016 in Los Angeles.  Star Movies is  tutoring viewers on the best excuses they could make for the Oscar day, to stay home and watch the Oscars live to beat the Monday blues. Some classics like Aunt Sick, Conjunctivitis, Neck Pain, Fainting and many more creative ideas have already been shared on-air. The movement has gained popularity online where Star Movies urged its followers to submit their excuses with #AwardWinningExcuses.

     

     Fans across the country started sending their responses with their excuse to skip work and watch the Awards live. The message was further amplified through branding across Jet aircrafts, Gold’s Gyms outlets and PVR Cinemas.The Oscars will be telecast live exclusively on Star Movies at 5 30 am and a repeat telecast will take place at  8:30 pm on 23 February  2015.

    The launch is line with PVR’s strategy of PAN India expansion with an aim to increase its presence in major cities.

     

    The new multiplex in Jalandhar has five screens with latest sound and projection system.

     

    With the opening of this multiplex, PVR’s total screen count now stands at 462 screens at 104 locations across 44 cities in 14 states and one Union Territory.

    MUMBAI: With an aim to strengthen its presence across the country, multiplex chain PVR Cinemas has opened a new property in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

    With the opening of this multiplex at Bhopal, the total screen count for the chain has gone up to 457 screens at 103 locations across 44 cities in 14 states and one union territory.

    The multiplex, which will be operational from 16 January, is located at the Aura Mall in Arena Colony, Bhopal. PVR’s new three screen multiplex is fitted with latest sound and projection system.

    The opening of this cinema is a part of PVR’s organic growth strategy of PAN India expansion.
