Goibibo announces Kareena Kapoor Khan as brand ambassador

Mumbai: Goibibo, one of India’s leading travel brands, stands for its youth-oriented offerings and campaigns. So, when it came to choosing the new face for the brand, Goibibo went back to the recommendations made by its core audience set.

In a stellar illustration of two-way communication between a brand and its audience, Goibibo announces Kareena Kapoor Khan aka Bebo as its new brand ambassador. This announcement coincides with the launch of Goibibo’s new campaign – Hotels aise on Goibibo, full marks by Bebo’ – and a new adapted social media identity. The brand integrates cues from the actor’s most memorable roles and her name in real life to its own personality thereby converging the brand and the brand ambassador like never before.

To bolster the announcement, Goibibo has also launched a new brand film that gives voice to the main character energy of every Indian traveller with Kareena’s famous ‘Poo’ as the mouthpiece. Goibibo chief marketing officer Raj Rishi Singh further explained, “We all have a main character energy to our personalities which becomes especially prominent when we are on our travel breaks. With Kareena Kapoor Khan, the brand not only gives representation to this facet of our personality but also seamlessly integrates the brand and the ambassador into a cohesive voice.  Our larger campaign speaks to the evolving expectations of Indian travellers and the increasing expectations from all operators in the space. We are hopeful that our audience will be as excited as we are for this new chapter for Goibibo.”

Kareena Kapoor Khan said, “It’s such a delight to be the new face of Goibibo, or should we call it ‘Goibebo’? Among all the roles I’ve played on screen, Poo has been one character that has been an all-time audience favourite, even after all these years! It’s fascinating to see how Goibibo has taken such a beloved character and infused it into their new, fun campaign. Becoming Poo again, twenty years later, was such fun and it reminded me that there’s a bit of ‘Poo’ in every Indian traveller… after all, who doesn’t want to have the best holiday! So, what are you waiting for? Because ‘Poo’ has already given her seal of approval!”

Goibibo stands firmly committed to maintaining impeccable standards and the latest campaign speaks to this goal. Bebo’s charisma, enduring popularity and high standards perfectly align with Goibibo’s mission to make sure accommodations listed on the platform are authentic, and there is no expectation and delivery mismatch.  Whether it’s Poo, or an everyman, with Goibibo one can rest assured with ‘Bebo’s’ seal of approval.

The film has been conceptualised by Talented and executed by Dharma 2.0.

Founding partner Priyanka Borah and Talented founding member & creative Binaifer Dulani said, “When we uncovered that the Indian consumer wants to be treated like a main character, from the movies, when on vacation – it instantly connected the dots for us, and gave birth to Goibebo. While the Poo character is iconic and has been leveraged in different ways, the strategic soundness makes this special, and its familiarity in a new context makes it memorable.”

Dharma 2.0 founder Punit Malhotra said, “There is an inherent stickiness to ‘goibibo’ and ‘bebo’ that will stay in the mind of the audiences. Poo is an unforgettable character, and it’s an honour to revive her quintessential sassiness, in a brand-new context to speak to the Indian masses.”

  • Varun & Alia become Romeo & Juliet to teach you cleanliness

Varun & Alia become Romeo & Juliet to teach you cleanliness

MUMBAI: Did you ever think that the epic Romeo and Juliet could make a case of ‘keep your city clean’ initiative? That’s just that Adar Poonawalla’s Clean City advertisement has attempted with Bollywood actors Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt.

Created by Dharma 2.0, the TVCs highlight the importance of keeping your city clean and urges people to take smaller steps to do their bit for their city. The two adverts, titled ‘Romeo & Juliet’ and ‘Astronaut’ reinforce the core message of keeping a city clean by taking essential steps like throwing waste in the bin.

In the first ad, Juliet waits in her balcony to be proposed by Romeo. However, during their conversation, Juliet happens to throw a juice box outside. This disturbs our hero, who retracts the proposal and leaves her. He picks the box and throws it in the garbage bin showing how necessary it is to properly dispose waste and keep the surroundings clean.

The second advertisement features two astronauts, a woman and a man, who descend from a spaceship on the moon. The two crack a few jokes during which, the man unwraps a chocolate bar and mindlessly throws the wrapper which floats owing to lack of gravity. Here, the woman gets irked and tells him to not throw garbage on the moon, before leaving him behind and shutting him out of the spaceship. The TVC ends with her asking the audience to keep their city clean.

The quirky themes employed for the adverts are humorous and urge people to take necessary actions, in a light-hearted manner.

Dharma 2.0 head Punit Malhotra said, “The importance of a greener and cleaner environment needs to be reinforced and the two TVCs intend to do just that. The campaign draws strong humorous elements and features the two youth icons, Alia and Varun to establish a strong connect with the millennials.”

Serum Institute of India owner and CEO Adar Poonawalla added, “The Clean City initiative works tirelessly to encourage people to take smaller steps that go a long way in keeping a city clean. The initiative brings together the people in the city because it is only through their active participation that positive change can be brought about. It also tackles the task of cleaning 800kms of Pune streets on a daily basis. It is imperative to get the word out and urge other cities across the country to join in the movement. The campaign created by Dharma 2.0 is engaging and entertaining.”

  • SRK & Gauri break gender stereotype in D’décor campaign

MUMBAI: Dharma 2.0, the young creative unit from Dharma Production stable, recently bagged the mandate for D’Decor’s new ad campaign – ‘Touch of Love’. While showcasing the wide array of D’Decor’s designs and qualities, the campaign focuses on the new line of product highlighting softness and comfort. The TVC features Shah Rukh Khan in the role of a home-maker, arranging the bedding with the D’Decor bedsheets, while Gauri Khan is busy at work. On this premise, the TVC brings to life the soft essence of love that the brand brings to its luxurious fabrics.

Dharma 2.0 head Punit Malhotra said, “As this was the first product led campaign from D’décor, we had to introduce the new range in a way which is compelling and also stays true to the brand’s core value. With ‘Touch of Love’, we wanted to set up a fresh and relevant context for today’s generation. We did it by turning the clichés around and subtly breaking the societal stereotypes. I am happy by the way  the campaign has turned out and hope to continue this association with D’décor in future as well.”

  • The curious case of Imrans mismatched socks

The curious case of Imrans mismatched socks

MUMBAI: We know how actors these days do anything to promote their films. Recently, while promoting his upcoming film, Gori Tere Pyaar Mein in Delhi, actor Imran Khan, who looked dapper in a dark pink sweater clubbed with beige pants and blue shoes, surprised the Delhiites with a mismatched pair of socks.

And the actor was flaunting it too. Imran played the same stint earlier this month on the celebrity chat show, The Front Row With Anupama Chopra. The two stints are enough to give audience an idea that the mismatched socks have something to do with the film’s story. We just hope that it has a substantial part in the film.

However, Kareena Kapoor and director Punit Malhotra were also in tow with Imran. And Kareena, who has worked with Imran earlier in Ekk Main Hu Aur Ek Tu looked elegant in a black dress.

The film, Gori Tere Pyaar Mein is a romantic comedy film written and directed by Punit Malhotra and is produced by Karan Johar under the banner of Dharma Productions. The film is releasing on 22 November.
