  • Puma’s propah lady campaign by digitas is bringing every woman on the internet together

Puma’s propah lady campaign by digitas is bringing every woman on the internet together

MUMBAI: Changing the narrative on what makes women ‘proper’, global sports brand PUMA partnered with Digitas India for its latest campaign ‘Propah Lady’. Countering conventional ideas through a fun and relatable narrative, the digital campaign brought every woman on the internet together – garnering over 14 million views across channels in the first 5 days of its launch. The relatability and adoptability of the campaign has seen more than 3500 real stories shared on Instagram organically with #PropahLady. The campaign continues to change the larger conversation on what makes women proper, beyond just making a splash with its numbers.

Siddhi Desai, Creative Director, Digitas India, said, “PUMA is a brand that can impact world narrative and hence we knew the responsibility while taking on this brief. We all agreed we wanted this campaign to live in the post empowered universe, so we decided to represent all those women around us who are bringing a change in this world by normalising a way of life through their everyday choices. That being the starting point, we knew, the first step was to shatter the very definition that had conditioned society for so long. Today, it’s out there. We are glad to see women being so proud of it and organically talking about it. None of this would have been possible without PUMA's conviction. We are also thankful to Team Catnip and every other collaborator. They went all in, heart and soul, to bring this alive.”

Debosmita Majumder, Head of Marketing, PUMA India said, “From being told how to talk, think and act to defining it for themselves, women have changed the meaning of being a ‘proper lady’ in their own individual style. This special campaign by PUMA and our agency Digitas is an ode to all the women who have the gumption to live life on their own terms and write their own rules. Our ambassadors Mary Kom, Sara Ali Khan, Dutee Chand and Anjali Lama’s authenticity in this campaign is very refreshing.”

Leading by example, the campaigns protagonists Mary Kom and Dutee Chand have not only rewritten the history of sports with their exceptional capabilities and determination, their grit and courage have also made an undeniable contribution to change the fabric of societal norms. While Sara Ali Khan resonates with young Indian women for being outspoken, authentic and bold, Anjali Lama, with her unshakeable resolve is continuing to break gender barriers in a powerful way.

"I wanted to give the sisterhood in India a video worthy of their fierceness, and Propah Lady campaign created the perfect space for it. My biggest responsibility as the director of this film was to decide how I would like to portray Indian women. It was important that it is real, honest and celebrates the versatility of their spirit. It’s all about the co-existence of all the beautifully contrasting ways in which the women choose to express themselves. This is what dictated the style of the video. The atmosphere on set was liberating, and overwhelming. I couldn’t be more proud of the dedicated and passionate team that made it all happen," said Reema Sengupta, director of the campaign film, and co-founder at CATNIP.

  • PUMA and LaLiga present the new Official Competition Football

PUMA and LaLiga present the new Official Competition Football

After signing the long-term agreement between PUMA and LaLiga, in which the sports brand became the official sponsor, PUMA presented the Official 2019/2020 Football today, which will be used for all of the LaLiga Santander and LaLiga 1|2|3 professional matches.

LaLiga is entertainment, emotion, it is passion, it is a spectacle, it is much more than football and the football is the heartbeat of the competition. PUMA wants to pay homage to this passion and therefore presented a new design that incorporates the technology that was developed exclusively by the brand with a striking color combination that will be the secret weapon for incredible tricks and goals that will become part of history.

With a 18 panel heat sealed structure, the new LaLiga football is a perfect sphere that guarantees better stability, a soft touch and reduced water absorption. The bigger panels allow a better connection with the sphere. One of the new details is located in the 1mm Hi-Solid Dimple PU (San Fang) casing which improves the aerodynamics and also provides high resistance to the graze and wear and tear, which creates better durability and high performance level.  The structure of this advanced design is similar to that of a golf ball to assure a straight path and better consistency in the shot.  Likewise, the incorporation of an additional POE foam layer improves the touch and increases the sensibility, which results in a firm touch and an improved rebound consistency. This football is reactive in the shots and has an explosive potential. The air chamber made of rubber with the PAL valve (PUMA AIR LOCK) assures excellent air retention.

Talking about the design colors, PUMA has opted for a very daring combination with green tones that offer more visibility in the turn and trajectory as well as in the velocity. An attractive Glimmer green over white combined with the NRGY red of the PUMA logo will highlight the flight over the pitch.

On a technical level, the PUMA sphere incorporates new details that improve the aerodynamics and resistance to the wear and tear, which will result in more durability and a higher performance level.

For the first time, the sphere includes the LaLiga ‘beat’, one of the visual identity roots for the organization. It will be integrated in the football in the PUMA logo.

For the presentation of the new sphere, PUMA has launched a campaign that is inspired in a mix of football, fun, dance and music that will generate a domino effect in which the football is the trigger.

One of the highlights of the campaign is the production of a video where the rhythm is marked by the heartbeats of the players who are the stars. Oblak, Griezmann, Umtiti, Bartra, Cazorla and Suárez appear in the video with the music from the afrotrap band, Afrojuice, which was written especially for this occasion.

The football marks the heartbeats of LaLiga, and PUMA wants to get to the heart of the players and all the fans of this great passion called football with their new ball.

  • Study reveals that 1/3rd of India hasn’t done any physical activity even once in the last 1 year

Study reveals that 1/3rd of India hasn’t done any physical activity even once in the last 1 year

MUMBAI: India’s leading athlete Virat Kohli and sportswear brand PUMA commissioned a pan-India study with market research agency Kantar IMRB to understand the current state of physical activity and sports adoption in the country. The study also assesses the barriers to playing sport regularly. Additionally, it highlights that the biggest motivation for adopting play is the sheer joy it brings and how it can effortlessly be included in everyday life.

    Findings show that:

    ·  1/3rd of the total population surveyed had not done any physical activity even once in the last 1 year!*

Physical activity here included any activity at home/outdoors/gyms/fitness centers such as Running/Walking/Zumba/Yoga/Swimming etc. as well as sports such as Cricket, Football, Badminton, Tennis, Table Tennis, Basketball, Volleyball, Hockey, Squash and local games such as Kabaddi, Kho-Kho etc.

    · 57% of the respondents have not played any sport for the last one year!*

o   3/4th of this group last played a sport only in school or college

o   While 70% of the respondents between 18-21 years had played a sport at least once in the last 1 year, this figure dropped drastically as individuals progressed in their occupations, and reduced to just 26% in the age bracket of 36-40 years.

    · 58% of those who don’t play any sport cited ‘Lack of time’ as the main reason *

o   However, the research brought out that the same respondents also spent close to 4-5 hours on social media, watching TV, personal phone conversations and usage of various messaging platforms on a typical working day (all put together).

o   In fact, the average frequency of uploading content on one’s social media handles was found to be 9 times in a month

o   Additionally, the average number of working hours for those who don’t play was found to be lesser than those who do (4.8 hours vs. 5.4 hours)

    · Interestingly, 81% of those who do play said they did so simply because they ‘enjoyed playing’ *

o   Other reasons for playing sport include ‘keeping fit’ and ‘relief from stress’

o   76% percent of those who play stated that they play in any open spaces that they find near their homes and 65% play with neighbors. Both clearly showing that lack of infrastructure or unavailability of people to play with were not barriers to play.

    · Goa topped the list with 89% of the respondents playing a sport at least once in the last 1 month*

o   This was followed by Hyderabad and Mumbai.

o   Gurgaon, Raipur and Patna rated low on this index with only 18%, 15% and 12% of the respondents from these cities playing at least once in the last 1 month.

Responding to the findings Virat Kohli said, ““It is shocking to see that one-third of the country has not done any kind of physical activity in the last one year. When you are physically fit, you are more energized to take on challenges. I have experienced this personally, and therefore strongly believe in leading an active lifestyle.

Technology and social media is gaining preference over health and fitness in our lives. This needs to change. Sports can be seamlessly integrated into our daily life – one can do it anywhere and at any time. Hence, I urge everyone to Come Out and Play. Its fun, relieves stress and helps us stay fit.”

PUMA India, Managing Director, Abhishek Ganguly said “The study brings out alarming facts about India’s adoption of physical activity.  It is essential to take corrective steps to address this situation. Playing sports is a simple yet effective solution that can be implemented into everyday life.”

He further added “Our endeavour has always been to encourage and promote an active lifestyle in the country. It is Virat Kohli’s personal mission to inspire India to get fitter, and we are delighted to partner with him in this journey.”

The survey covered 3924 respondents from the age bracket of 18-40 years (both male and female). The respondents were spread across 18 cities – Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Kolkata, Cochin, Ghaziabad, Goa, Gurugram, Guwahati, Jaipur, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Patna, Raipur, and Surat.
