    Saurabh Varma elevated as Publicis Communications’ India CEO

    MUMBAI: Publicis Communications has elevated the incumbent Leo Burnett South Asia CEO Saurabh Varma as the CEO of Publicis Communications India. Varma’s appointment comes on top of his existing responsibilities.

    To be based in Mumbai, Varma, as well other country leaders — Nakul Chopra and Praveen Kenneth, will continue reporting to Loris Nold, global COO of Publicis Communications, in charge of the APAC & MEA region. In the Indian sub-continent, Publicis Communications comprises Leo Burnett, Publicis India, Law & Kenneth | Saatchi & Saatchi, Orchard India, MSLGROUP, Publicis Ambience, Publicis Capital, Indigo iStrat and Publicis Beehive.

    Nold commented, “With Saurabh leading our India efforts, I am very confident that we will drive significant acceleration across Publicis Communications, ultimately for the direct benefit of our clients.”

    Varma added, “I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to help our creative brands fully leverage the strength of our collective expertise around digital, shopper marketing, PR and production platforms. In my mind, Publicis Communications is first and foremost about giving our clients full access to our capabilities, talent and resources across the country, as our aim is to deliver end-to-end solutions to all of our clients.”

    Varma was appointed the CEO of Leo Burnett India in 2013, and, a year later, was elevated to the current south Asia role. He has about 20 years of industry experience, seven of which were spent as the chief strategy officer for south Asia, in Singapore.

    Vivek Rao joins L&K Saatchi & Saatchi as chief creative officer – North

    MUMBAI: L&K Saatchi & Saatchi has appointed Vivek Rao as its chief creative officer – North. 

    Rao is armed with 15 years of experience working with global marketing communications companies and driving growth for global and local brands.

     

    L & K Saatchi & Saatchi CEO and managing partner Anil S Nair said, “Vivek is not just a fantastic creative talent but an inspiring leader, who carries his team along with him to glory.   • Paritosh Srivastava promoted to COO Publicis Ambience

    Paritosh Srivastava promoted to COO Publicis Ambience

    MUMBAI: In continuation of recent senior management changes and recruitments Publicis announced the promotion of Paritosh Srivastava to chief operating officer (COO) for Publicis Ambience. He will continue to report to south Asia CEO Nakul Chopra and will join the management board for Publicis Worldwide in India.

     

    Chopra commented, “This is a well-deserved promotion. For over three years now Paritosh has led Publicis Ambience admirably. The improvement in talent and quality has been remarkable – the growth has been outstanding. With further empowerment in his new role – I have no doubt he will take Publicis Ambience to new heights.”

     

    Commenting on his promotion, Srivastava said, “It’s a privilege to lead an agency with the legacy of Publicis Ambience.   • Publicis Ambience to handle Musafir.com’s creative duties

    MUMBAI: Publicis Ambience has won the creative mandate of UAE’s travel website Musafir.com following a multi-agency pitch.

    The account will be handled out of the agency’s Mumbai office.

    Publicis Ambience executive vice-president Paritosh Srivastava said, “We will start working on the account in the first quarter of 2013. We will be launching an integrated campaign for the client.”

    Publicis Ambience ropes in Ferzad Variyava as ECD

    MUMBAI: Publicis Ambience has appointed Ferzad Variyava as its executive creative director.

    Variyava joins from Alok Nanda & Company where he was working as senior creative director.

    Based in Mumbai, he will report to Publicis Ambience vice-chairperson and NCD Ashish Khazanchi.

    “Yes, Variyava has joined us,” said Publicis South Asia CEO Nakul Chopra.

    Variyava started his career in 2000 as junior copywriter in Ambience Publicis. He then moved to McCann Erickson India in 2004 as creative group head. In 2005, he joined Leo Burnett as creative group head and then as creative director in Fortune Communications in March 2006. His last stint prior to Alok Nanda & Company was with JWT as senior creative director.

    Publicis Ambience appoints Paritosh Srivastava as Mumbai head

    MUMBAI: Publicis Ambience has appointed Paritosh Srivastava as its Mumbai head. He is expected to come on board in early May.

    Srivastava moves in from Rediffusion Y&R, where he was executive vice president south. 
     
    Publicis South Asia CEO Nakul Chopra said, “Paritosh brings a unique combination of youth and experience. I believe both his passion and entrepreneurial skills will bring the very qualities we need in PA Mumbai right now. I look forward to a very successful partnership with him.”

    Srivastava started his career with Ogilvy and Mather Mumbai as account supervisor and worked there for four years. 
     
    After O&M, Srivastava has had a long and successful innings at Rediffusion-Y&R going on to head their operations in the South across Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad.
     
    In a career spanning more than 10 years, Srivastava has worked with a range of clients such as ITC, Titan Xylys, Arrow, Antiquity, Indiainfo.com, Star India, Amaron Batteries and Bajaj Auto.

    Srivastava stated, “Publicis is a strong group with aggressive future plans for India. Nakul’s view of the agency business and the kind of place he’d like to create resonates with my thoughts. We have a shared sense of the future and I look forward to the experience of a network agency.”

    Meanwhile, Publicis Capital Mumbai has recently appointed Runjhun Jain as senior creative director. She moves in from Bates 141.

    Jain will partner Publicis Capital Mumbai executive creative director Vivek Nayyar in leading the creative team here.

    Besides freelancing as an independent illustrator, stylist and art director, Jain has also worked at Lowe and Ogilvy & Mather.

    Jain has worked on various brands such as Allen Solly, Clinic Plus, Fiat Linea, Gelusil, and Tanishq.

    On her appointment, Publicis Capital national creative director Emmanuel Upputuru says, “Our team in Mumbai has been doing a great job on Garnier and other brands for the last many years. Now I look forward to Runjhun to take the baton and run with it. She certainly has the hunger and the talent for it.”
