    Mumbai: Sony AATH, one of the most loved Bengali general entertainment channels, is all set to celebrate Mahalaya by bringing in a special surprise for its viewers. The channel aims to keep the festive fervour alive with a day-long programming line-up curated with content dedicated to the glory of the mighty Maa Durga. Titled ‘Mahalayar Mahautsab’, the property will air on Sony AATH on 14 October 2023.

    Mahalaya, a significant day in the Bengali calendar, marks the beginning of Devi Paksha and is celebrated with great enthusiasm. Recognising the cultural importance of this occasion, Sony AATH has curated a day-long special segment ‘Mahalayar Mahautsab’ from 05:00 am till 05:00 pm.

    It starts with Debir Dashrup at 05:00 am sharing details about Adishakiti’s 10 forms and the story associated with each roop. The episode portrays that when evil forces oppress the good, the Goddess appears in various forms to destroy them. It is followed by Atho Sati Parbati Katha starting 09:00 AM depicting the story of Sati’s marriage with Lord Shiva and her birth as Goddess Parvati. The viewers will see how Goddess Parvati, like Sati, won Lord Shiva over by her penance and got married to him.

    At 10:00 AM, Gopaler Mahalaya will screen a special episode around the Durga Puja festival and Mahalaya. Shaktirupini Durga at 01:00 PM will take viewers through the legend that showcases Goddess Durga combating demonic forces that threaten peace, prosperity, and dharma to reinstate the power of good over evil. The line-up ends with Asurnashini Maa at 02:00 pm, depicting the story of Goddess Parvati becoming Goddess Katyayani and killing Mahishasura to become Mahishasuramardini, the destroyer mother of demons.

    Mirror Now unveils new visual identity and content formats

    Mumbai: News channel Mirror Now has refreshed its visual identity and introduced a new programming lineup with five primetime shows. The channel will have anchors Heena Gambhir, Tamanna Inamdar, Afrida Rahman Ali, Griha Atul, and Archana Solanki on its new shows.

    The new programming comprises “Mirror Metro” at 6 p.m. which offers a national perspective on top news from metro cities. “The Big Focus” at 7 p.m brings to focus the bigger picture by presenting a well-researched context and comprehensive perspective on top stories of the day. “The Urban Debate” at 8 p.m, Mirror Now’s flagship show that demands accountability from powers that can drive improvement for citizens. “The Nation Tonight” at 9 p.m, a one-hour show that declutters the daily news to present top stories of the day, with insights from experts, and “Beyond The Headline” at 10 p.m, presented in an explainer format showcases an in-depth analysis of the big stories of each day.

    Discovery unveils programming lineup for ‘Shark Week 2021’

    Mumbai: Discovery channel on Thursday announced the full programming lineup for its successful IP “Shark Week 2021” ahead of its 10 July premiere on discovery+.

     
    The show which returns for its 33rd year will have more hours of shark programming than ever before and feature celebrity co-stars including Tiffany Haddish, Brad Paisley, JB Smoove, William Shatner, Eli Roth, the cast of “Jackass”, Noah Schnapp, Robert Irwin, Ian Ziering, Tara Reid, Dr Sandra Lee, Josh Gates, Snoop Dogg, Mark Rober, Chris Rose, David Dobrik and Kinga Philipps, the channel said in a statement.

    Leading up to Shark Week, Animal Planet, Discovery Channel and discovery+ will celebrate with a shark movie festival across three platforms with titles like “Crickey! It’s Shark Week”, “Expedition Unknown”, “Sharkadelic Summer 2 ft. Snoop Dogg”, “Extinct or Alive: The Lost Shark”, “Shark Week Best in Show”, “Alien Sharks: First Contact”, amongst others.  
    The show will take viewers to new locations to study and record new shark behaviours  including Bull shark hunting patterns and new heights – capturing the highest breach ever recorded as Discovery celebrates these brilliant creatures, it added.
