    Mumbai:  Onam – the colourful festival of Kerala’s culture and tradition – is round the corner. The 10-day festivity includes Sadhya, Thiruvathira Kali, Pookalam, Ona-thallu, Pulikali, Onavillu, and welcome songs for King Mahabali. Highlighting Onam’s sublime activities such as Pookalam, aromatic Onasadya, spectacular Snake-boat Race, and the enticing Kaikottikali Dance, News18 Kerala brings to its viewers a special line-up of Onam programmes guaranteeing a complete cultural extravaganza.

    The programs lined up for this beautiful festival by News18 Kerala will include folk rituals, music and dance performances, interviews and chat shows with celebrities such as P Jayachandran, Bhavana, and eminent politicians VD Satheeshan, P Prasad, and a lot more.     The Q strengthens primetime programming with five new shows

    Mumbai: In a bid to strengthen its primetime programming, Hindi GEC The Q on Thursday announced the launch of five new shows “Pagalpanti,” “Badhiya Hai!,” “Dhakkad Kudis,” “Dil Se Connection #Sholka Ke Saath,” and “Dil Se Connection #SambhAvi Ke Saath.

    The channel has also launched an integrated marketing campaign to target viewers across the Hindi-speaking market. The campaign will extend outside the network TV promotion, print, and outdoor advertising as well as activations in key markets. 

    The Q will also leverage its owned media platforms across linear TV to further its messaging.

    “The channel will programme to offer similar content and shows as per a predefined time band thus delivering a holistic genre-led content consumption experience,” said the statement. The shows “Pagalpanti,” “Badhiya Hai!” and “Dhakkad Kudis” will be led by digital creators, it added. 

    “We have successfully broken the clutter with content that is different, relatable and entertaining over the last year,” said QYOU Media India chief executive officer Simran Hoon. “Our audiences and advertisers have appreciated our unique storytelling approach, and have validated our digital to TV proposition. With this new avatar, we are stepping up our commitment for our viewers by making available content that is rich, vibrant and relevant. The Q’s new programming strategy is a reflection of our identity as a network. It consolidates content by the experience it offers and brings to the forefront a new manner of consuming television.”

    According to a statement, “Pagalpanti” is a sketch comedy with popular creators like Elvish Yadav, and Awanish Singh. “Badhiya Hai!” is a family-oriented sketch comedy show with creators like BakLol amongst others. “Dhakkad Kudis” is an all women creator-led show with Sanjhalika Shokeen, Sushma Chhikara, and Charu Dixit.

    Premiering on 18 April at 7 p.m, “Dil Se Connection #SambhAvi Ke Saath” will showcase celebrity couple Sambhavna Seth and Avinash Dwivedi. “Dil Se Connection #Shloka Ke Saath” will premiere on 18 April at 7:30 p.m and will give viewers a window into the lives of celebrity couple Dipika Kakkar and Shoaib Ibrahim, added the statement.

    ET Now and ET Now Swadesh unveil budget day programming

    Mumbai: ET Now and ET Now Swadesh have announced exclusive budget-day programming under the theme ‘Mission Growth: Budget 2022.’ The curated lineup of shows will commence from 7 a.m on 1 February.

    The channel will leverage technology and AR graphics to present a simplified budget analysis. The live coverage will commence with the finance minister’s speech followed by an in-depth analysis of budget 2022-23 by ET Now and ET Now Swadesh managing editor Nikunj Dalmia.

    This will be followed by an exclusive segment with Indian economist, journalist and columnist Swaminathan Aiyar. A panel of experts including HDFC Life MD and CEO, DLF whole-time director and CEO Ashok Tyagi, M&M executive director (auto and farm sectors) Rajesh Jejurikar, Fortis Healthcare MD and CEO Ashutosh Raghuvanshi, SBI former chairman Rajnish Kumar will analyse the budget.  

    A panel featuring HDFC Asset Management Company ED and CIO Prashant Jain, market veterans Madhusudan Kela and Shankar Sharma, Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC MD and CEO A Balasubramanian, ICICI Prudential AMC ED and CIO S Naren will offer insights on post-budget investment strategy and wealth creation.  

    ET Now consulting editor Mythili Bhusnurmath will present a segment on the story behind the budget numbers and will help viewers understand the budget undertone. An expert team from Deloitte India will share their top takes from the budget.

    The two channels are also running a slew of digital and on-air short format video content that will simplify the union budget. A segment called ‘Aasaan Bhaasha Me’ will help viewers get a better sense of this year’s budget and round up all budget-related highlights.

    “Jayant Sir Ki Class” a show featuring former minister of state for finance Jayant Sinha will explain concepts, terms, and de-jargonise the budget. The show will air on the channels as well as social media platforms.  

    The channels have also announced an on-air contest “Budget Master” starting on 1 February where participants can enter the contest by watching the channels and answering questions asked every hour between 9 a.m and 2 p.m. “Five winners will be selected and gratified with an iPhone,” said the channel in a statement.

    Colors Tamil announces special programming for Pongal starting 14 January

    Mumbai: Colors Tamil has announced a special programming line-up for Pongal starting on Friday 14 January and concluding on 16 January.

    The channel will air a mix of shows including “Sirappa Pattimandram,” helmed by actor-director K Bhagyaraj and a star-studded awards function “Colors Tamil Thiruvizha” powered by Cadbury Dairy Milk Silk.  

    “Sirappu Pattimandram” will have an array of speakers from different walks of life like actor-director Pandiarajan, actor-comedian Ramesh Kanna, renowned Pattimandram speaker Sumathi Sri, and actor Jangiri Madhumitha. The show’s sponsors include ‘powered by’ sponsor Cadbury Dairy Milk Silk, ‘special’ partners Cardia Advanced Groundnut Oil and Aroma Agmark Ghee and will be telecast on Friday starting at 9.00 a.m.  

    “Colors Tamil Thiruvizah” will be hosted by actor duo Aadhavan and Farina Azad. The three-hour special show will have a variety of dancing and singing acts by prominent playback singers Velmurugan and Mukesh. The celebration will witness a slew of actors from Tamil cinema including Santhanam, Ashok Selvan, Rithvika, Manikandan along with the cast and crew of ‘Sila Nerangalil Sila Manithargal’ making a special appearance. The awards are supported by ‘powered by’ sponsor Cadbury Dairy Milk Silk and ‘special’ partner Gold Winner and will be telecast on Friday at 10.30 a.m.

    The channel will also present a cine weekend with “Local Boys” featuring Mammooty, Arya, Prithviraj and Priya Anand at 4.30 p.m on Saturday 15 January. It will also telecast the world TV premiere of ‘Yennanga Sir Unga Sattam’ starring RS Karthik and Ayra in the lead roles on 16 January at 4.30 p.m.

    AIR doubles transmission time for programmes in six languages

    Mumbai: Stepping up its outreach to neighbours through airwaves, All India Radio (AIR) has decided to double its transmission time in six languages, starting 3 January.

    Making the announcement, the External Services Division of AIR said, the broadcast time has been doubled from the existing 1- 1.5 hours to three hours. The six languages include Dari, Pashto, Tibetan, Nepali, Baluchi, and Mandarin Chinese. The transmission would now be available daily for 1.5 hours every morning as well as evening.

    While Balochi is spoken in the Baluchistan province of Pakistan, Dari and Pashto are spoken in Afghanistan which is currently under Taliban rule.

    Keeping its mandate of reaching out to regions across the globe the External Affairs Division of AIR currently broadcasts in French, Sindhi, Indonesian, Tibetan, Mandarin Chinese, Baluchi, Urdu, Pashto, Arabic, Swahili, Punjabi, Saraiki, Bengali, Persian, Nepali, and Dari.

    Mumbai: Hindi movie channel Colors Cineplex has announced a slew of fresh and exciting content offerings until February. This includes the upcoming Abu Dhabi T10 series, several film premieres and Road Safety World Series in February 2022.

    The upcoming Abu Dhabi T10 league will start airing from 19 November onwards on Colors Cineplex, Rishtey Cineplex, Voot and Jio. On 19 December, the channel will telecast the world TV premiere of the biographical war film “Shershaah” starting at 7:30 p.m. Road Safety World Series will return in February 2022. The channel has announced a New Year programming lineup that includes Tamil blockbusters “Vijay Raghvan” starring Vijay Anthony, Rudhram starring Raghava Lawrence, and Malayalam blockbuster “Minnal Murali.”

    The Abu Dhabi T10 features six teams consisting of legends like Faf Du Plessis, Chris Gayle and Yusuf Pathan, among others from 20 different nations, will play 35 matches in this series. Road Safety World Series is a tournament played by former cricket icons like Sachin Tendulkar, Virendra Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh is organized to create awareness about the safety rules on the road. The inaugural edition took place this March which was won by the host – India Legends.

    National Geographic introduces new programming block ‘Case Files’ with Sharad Kelkar

    Mumbai: National Geographic dives deeper into investigative genre with a new programming block called “Case Files” with actor and presenter Sharad Kelkar. This block premieres on 8 November and brings intriguing narratives of real investigations around the world. The segment will air every Monday to Friday starting at 8 p.m.

    The programming includes “Air Crash Investigations,” “Banged Up Abroad,” “Airport Security,” “To Catch A Smuggler,” along with new series such as “Undercover Asia & Crime Science,” host Sharad Kelkar will set up the tone and conclude every episode.

    Mumbai: Times Network movie channels Movies Now, MNX, Romedy Now, and MN+ have announced a special programming lineup for Diwali.

    Movies Now will air films like “XXX: Return of Xander Cage,” “Quantum of Solace,” “Bumblebee,” “Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen,” and “Men In Black: International” at 9 p.m every night. It will also air films like “Die Another Day,” “Apocalypto,” “Sherlock Holmes,” “Spectre” and more on weekdays at 11 p.m. 

    On 4 November, the channel will bring the biggest blockbuster superhero films like “Wonder Woman 1984,” “Spiderman: Far from Home,” “The Dark Knight Rises,” and “Transformers: The Last Knight.”

    The network’s regional entertainment offering will include a special talent show “Me Honar Superstar Chote Ustaad” on Star Pravah, “Cook with Comali Season 3” on Star Vijay, “Bigg Boss Diwali Special” on Star Maa, and more. In addition to this, multiple new fiction shows will be launched across the television network.

    Cartoon Network, Pogo unveil content lineup for Oct-Nov

    Mumbai: Kid’s entertainment channels Pogo and Cartoon Network have unveiled their special lineup of shows to be aired during the festive months of October and November.

    As a part of this telecast schedule, “Titoo – Har Jawaab Ka Sawaal Hu” will return on Pogo with new episodes of the series that will air from 18 October from Monday to Friday at 11.15 a.m. “Chhota Bheem” specials will air every day from Monday to Friday, at 8.15 p.m, including a premiere, “Chhota Bheem Aur Chand Pari ki Dastaan,” on 15 October. In November, viewers can tune in to new episodes of “Smashing Simmba,” “Titoo – Har Jawaab Ka Sawaal Hu,” “Shaktimaan” specials, and the premiere of “Krishna Aur Kans.”

    Pogo has also launched an on-air content ‘Gift Wali Diwali’ where viewers need to spot and win cool gifts from the mystery gift box that will open on their TV screens, every day between 12 p.m and 2 p.m as they binge on episodes of “Titoo – Har Jawaab Ka Sawaal Hu” and “Smashing Simmba.” Gifts like mobiles, laptops, tablets, cycles, scooters, headphones, and more are up for grabs.

    On Cartoon Network, “The Tom and Jerry Show” Dussehra special will begin from 15 October, 1 p.m onwards. The new episodes of the “The Tom and Jerry Show” will air from Monday to Friday at 3:30 p.m, starting 18 October. The show “Grizzy and The Lemmings” will air between 4-8 November. The channel’s first sci-fi superhero show “Ekans – Ek Se Badhkar Snake” will return with season three.
