    P&G to make brand advertising accessible to people with impairments

    Mumbai: Procter & Gamble (P&G) India on Tuesday announced its commitment to improve the accessibility of brand advertising to people with sight and hearing impairments by 2024.

    “The initiative will make P&G brands more inclusive and accessible to all members of our community. P&G also announced that it will sensitize students pursuing advertising and marketing courses on accurate portrayal and representation of women in advertising,” the company said in a statement.

    P&G will partner with leading marketing and communication colleges to shape the next generation of marketers and advertisers. Along with this, P&G also reinforced its commitment to continue leveraging the voice of its brands to have conversations that bust myths, break biases & shatter stereotypes.   

    P&G’s chief marketing officer Sharat Verma said, “At P&G, we want to step up and use our voice to be a force for growth and force for good. We have made strong progress in the role our brands are playing to drive social and cultural change. Not only that, but we are also committed to enabling equal opportunities for women in the advertising creativity and production industry.

    “It is important that we make equality and inclusion a sustainable part of creativity. Therefore, we are seeking to work with the next generation of marketers and advertisers, to drive holistic change in imagery, and in turn, society. We are deliberate in our actions to advance equality and inclusion, so that we can accelerate the pace of change,” he added.

    BARC week 42: Amazon retains top brand spot

    NEW DELHI: The Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) of India has released its data for top advertisers and brands for the period between 10 October to 16 October 2020.

    The data reflects the top 10 advertisers and brands across genres on India television, 2+ Individuals, NCCS All demonstrating ads that were inserted the most in the 42 week of 2020.

    Top Advertisers: –

    Hindustan Unilever continued to be the biggest advertiser this week also with 257236 impressions.

    It was followed by Reckitt Benckiser India which ranked second with 151804 ad generations.

    ITC Ltd this time bagged the third rank with 56162 ad impressions. Godrej Consumer came in fourth with 429297 ad generations.

    Amazon Online India and Cadbury India secured fifth and sixth place with 40599 and 35852 ad views.

    Other top brands in the pecking order were as follows: Ponds India, Wipro, Colgate Palmolive India Ltd and  Procter and Gamble.

    Top Brands:

    This week Amazon.in led the chart with 30390 ad impressions, followed by Dettol Antiseptic Liquid with 22372 ad views. Lizol secured the third position with 18091 ad insertions.

    The fourth and fifth spots were acquired by Dettol Toilets Soaps and Surf Excel easy wash with 17313 and 16746 ad generations.

    Myntra.com bagged the sixth spot with 14833 ad views.

    Other top brands in the pecking order were as follows: Flipkart.com, Glow & Lovely, Whitehat Jr, and Lux Toilet Soap.

    The data reflects the top 10 advertisers and brands across genres on India television, 2+ Individuals, NCCS All demonstrating ads that were inserted the most in week 41 of 2020. 

    Top Advertisers: –

    Hindustan Unilever continued to be the biggest advertiser this week also with 273549 impressions. It was followed by Reckitt Benckiser India which ranked second with 156461 ad generations.

    ITC Ltd this time bagged the third rank with 58389 ad impressions. In a first, Amazon Online India secured the fourth spot with 55443 ad impressions. Godrej Consumer Products and Cadbury India secured fifth and sixth place with 39623 and 38243 ad impressions respectively.

    Other top brands in the pecking order were as follows: Flipkart.com, Procter and Gamble, Colgate Palmolive India Ltd and Wipro.

    Top Brands:

    This week Amazon.in leads the chart with 36794 ad impressions, followed by Flipkart.com at the second spot with 32969 ad views.

    Last week’s top ranker Dettol Antiseptic Liquid slid down to the third position with 25456 ad insertions.

    The fourth and fifth spots were acquired by Lizol and Dettol Toilets Soaps with 19381 and 18675 ad insertions respectively.

    Surf Excel easy wash bagged the sixth spot with 16947 ad views.

    Other top brands in the pecking order were as follows: Glow & Lovely, Whitehat Jr, Myntra.com, Lux Toilet Soap.

    Sony DADC ropes in Rajat Kakar as biz head

    MUMBAI: The home entertainment services division of Sony DADC has appointed Rajat Kakar as business head.

    Kakar will head the newest division at Sony DADC and is looking to challenge the conventional norms of the home video business.

    Kakar brings to the Sony portfolio 25 years of experience in the field of marketing and business development. He started his career in 1987 with Asian Paints and has since played significant marketing and management roles with players in the market like Procter & Gamble in diverse sales and marketing capacities in the early days of Global MNC‘s foray into India. After P&G he moved to Sony Music where he was part of the start-up team.

    Later, as the managing director at Universal Music, Kakar led the India operations for nearly a decade and was a key factor in transforming the company to embrace the challenges of the emerging environment in areas such as digital, artist management and merchandising. This was done with the endeavour to make Universal Music India a complete 360 degree media company.

    Sony DADC International EVP Chris Reiser said, "We are delighted to welcome such an experienced person as Rajat on board. With his comprehensive understanding of publisher needs and the retail landscape, he will play a major role in Sony DADC‘s move towards becoming an end to end supply chain service company."

    Kakar said, "I am more than excited to join this team and delighted to be mandated with setting up a state-of-the-art, sales, marketing and distribution entity which will maximize sales growth for the international studios as well as for local content holders."
