    Prakash Jha’s ‘Jai Gangaajal’ to release on 4 March, 2016

    MUMBAI: Prakash Jha’s next film Jai Gangaajal, starring Priyanka Chopra in the lead is all set to release worldwide on 4 March, 2016.

     

    Jai Gangaajal is the sequel to Gangaajal, which featured Ajay Devgn as the police officer with a conscience. The movie told the story of how a society gets the police it deserves.

     

    Thirteen years later, with Jai Gangaajal, Jha revisits the dusty heartland of North India, and examines again the society-police relationship to tell us a new story.

     

    This time, Chopra will be playing Abha Mathur, the new SP in town, who will raise wrestle with her conscience. Mathur is posted in the district, because as a woman she will perhaps be pliable, easily manipulated and thus not disturb the entrenched nexus of the town.

     

    “Much has changed in the last 13 years. When I made Gangaajal 13 years ago, the dictum was that every society gets police that it deserves. But the scenario has changed since then. Today the cops follow the dictum of inaction is virtue and efficiency is crime,” said Jha.

     

    The movie also stars Manav Kaul, Rahul Bhat, Murli Sharma and Ninand Kamath.

     

    Written and directed by Jha, Jai Gangaajal has been produced by Prakash Jha Productions and Play Entertainment.

    MUMBAI: It’s raining movie premieres on television and the latest one that will soon have its world television premiere is Dil Dhadakne Do, which is directed by Zoya Akhtar.

     

    Zee Cinema HD will premiere the movie on 19 September at 8 pm. 

     

    Shot across the Mediterranean Sea on a cruise ship, the film stars Anil Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra, Farhaan Akhtar, Anushka Sharma and Shefali Shah. Additionally, the film has narration by Aamir Khan.

    Eros Now forges advertising partnership with ‘Quantico’

    MUMBAI: Eros International and International Media Distribution (IMD) have inked an advertising partnership for Priyanka Chopra’s upcoming US television series Quantico. Chopra will make her American television debut as Alex Parrish on the series, which will begin airing in the US on ABC from 27 September.

     

    The OTT platform Eros Now will showcase an entire line-up of Chopra’s films in celebration of Quantico’s premiere. Through a special advertising agreement, ABC will feature Quantico promotional spots before each of Chopra’s films on Eros Now On Demand from 4 September to 29 October to drive tune-in for the new FBI series.  

     

    “We are excited to bring Priyanka Chopra’s collection of Eros films to television viewers around the world in celebration of her historical crossover from Bollywood to Hollywood. We, along with the thousands of proud South Asian families in the US, are anxious to support an Indian actor in a lead role on a television show airing on a mainstream US network. This is truly momentous and we are delighted to curate a collection of Eros titles to honor the occasion,” said Eros International president Ken Naz.

     

    Sneak peeks and behind-the-scenes footage from Quantico will be available to watch in addition to Bollywood films featuring the star. 

     

    The movies starring Chopra that will be showcased on Eros Now On Demand are God Tussi Great Ho, Teri Meri Kahaani, Agneepath, Mary Kom, Shootout at Wadala, Anjaana Anjaani, Krrish, Krrish 3, Salaam-E-Ishq and Ra.One.

     

    All titles on Eros Now On Demand are in Hindi and subtitled in English.

    Star Plus to air film on women empowerment on 29 August

    MUMBAI: With an aim to inspire a billion imaginations to empower girls, Star Plus will be airing a ground-breaking film titled Girl Rising – Woh Padhegi, Woh Udegi by Academy Award nominee Richard E. Robbins.

     

    The movie will be telecast for the first time in India on 29 August. Girl Rising – Woh Padhegi, Woh Udegi narrates the stories of eight girls across – from Afghanistan, Egypt, Ethiopia, Haiti, India, Nepal, Peru and Sierra Leone – and their fight to overcome impossible odds to realise their dreams.

     

    Actresses Priyanka Chopra and Freida Pinto are also producers and ambassadors for Girl Rising.

    The Hindi version of the two-hour film features actors like Chopra, Pinto, Nandita Das, Madhuri Dixit, Sushmita Sen, Alia Bhatt, Parineeti Chopra and Kareena Kapoor and has voice narration by Amitabh Bachchan.

     

    The campaign is powered through partnerships that include USAID, HP, Intel, Star TV, and Ministry of Women and Child Development’s Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Abhiyan.

    Swipe earmarks $3 million budget for marketing campaign with Priyanka Chopra

    MUMBAI: Smartphone and tablet maker Swipe will soon launch a 360 degree marketing campaign ‘Live Your Faith’ featuring its brand ambassador Priyanka Chopra.

     

    The company has earmarked a budget of $3 million for the marketing blitzkrieg that has been launched in Mumbai through outdoor advertising and print advertisements in leading dailies.

     

    The campaign encompasses multiple forms and will have a presence on all mediums – traditional as well as non-traditional.

     

    The key message of the pan India campaign will be to show the journey of not just brand Swipe but also Chopra.

     

    Swipe’s campaign creative is a tribute to the performer and winner in Chopra. From being an army doctor’s daughter, to becoming the pride of a nation, Chopra has dared to dream big and has showed courage in every endeavour.

     

    The campaign will kick off with Chopra presenting ‘Live Your Faith’ as her personal philosophy.

    Star World to air Priyanka Chopra’s ‘Quantico’ in India

    MUMBAI: Priyanka Chopra’s debut international television series, ABC’s Quantico will air in India on Star World & Star World HD.

     

    Quantico will be available to Indian audiences almost immediately after its US airing, which is slated for 27 September, 2015. Star World will be launching the show with great fanfare later this year.

     

    Produced by Disney–ABC Television Group’s television production division, Quantico has created a lot of buzz since the launch of its first trailer in May this year.

     

    A Star India official spokesperson said, “This is a first for Bollywood as well as for India where an A-List actor like Priyanka Chopra is playing a lead in an international TV series. There is a lot of chatter and excitement in the country for this show and we are thrilled that Star World will give this magnum-opus show an imposing launch platform that it rightly deserves.”

     

    On the launch of her first international TV venture, Chopra said, “Quantico is my first international TV venture and I am truly proud of it.     UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Priyanka Chopra bats for adolescent anaemia patients

    NEW DELHI: UNICEF has released a short film in which its Goodwill Ambassador Priyanka Chopra and others emphasised the importance of stepping up the fight against adolescent anaemia, regarded as a major health problem among adolescents in developing countries including India.

     

    In the film released on the occasion of World Youth Day, Chopra said, “One out of two young girls and one out of three young boys in India are anaemic. Anaemia is a serious health problem not only in rural but also in the urban areas. Anaemia can be prevented by taking iron-rich diet, Iron and Folic Acid (IFA) tablets once a week and deworming tablets every six months. It is really that simple.”

     

    The film highlights the importance of the Government’s Weekly Iron and Folic Acid Supplementation (WIFS) programme for adolescents launched in 2012 to reduce severity and prevalence of nutritional anaemia in adolescents between 15 and 19 years. Several medical personnel also spoke about the problem of anaemia along with Chopra.

     

    As many as 56 per cent girls and 30 per cent boys in this age group in India are anaemic, according to the National Family Health Survey (NFHS) 3 data. This group comprises one-fourth of India’s population and is a key driver of its future economic growth.

     

    Research shows that after the first year of life, adolescence is the second highest growth spurt period. Adolescents, if given the right nutrition, gain up to 50 per cent of their adult weight, more than 20 per cent of their adult height, and 50 per cent of their adult bone mass during this period.

    ‘Bajirao Mastani’ teaser gets 2 million views on ErosNow

    MUMBAI: The teaser trailer of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s new film Bajirao Mastani, has garnered close to two million views on Eros international’s VOD platform – ErosNow. 

     

    Starring Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, the movie is inspired by historical figures like Balaji Bajirao and his two wives, Bajirao Mastani and Kashibai.

     

    The three-minute teaser released online on ErosNow has registered an unprecedented 65,000 views per second. The larger-than-life magnum opus that transports viewers to a land of royalty and exquisite landscapes, received a huge thumps up from the industry as several took to a popular micro-blogging site to voice their praise.

     

    Getting thumbs up from the likes of Alia Bhatt, Siddharth Malhotra, Ayushmann Khurrana and Sophie Choudary amongst others, Bajirao Mastani is produced by Eros International and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The movie is slated to release worldwide on 18 December, 2015.
