Prime Video renews The Traitors after a killer debut

MUMBAI: Prime Video is doubling down on deception. After a wildly successful debut, the streamer has announced that season two of its reality thriller The Traitors is officially in development. Hosted by the ever-dramatic Karan Johar, the Indian adaptation of the BAFTA- and Emmy-winning format has gripped viewers across the country—and the numbers prove it.

Since its 12 June premiere, the series has been watched in 88 per cent of India’s pin codes, turning Thursday nights into a frenzy of speculation, strategy, and social media theories. A star-studded cast, twist-laden gameplay, and Johar’s flair for theatrical tension have made The Traitors an unexpected pop-culture phenomenon.

Based on a global format by IDTV, and distributed by All3Media International, The Traitors has been adapted in over 35 countries, becoming one of the fastest-growing reality formats globally. The Indian version, filmed in a dramatic Rajasthani palace, pits 20 celebrities—ranging from Raftaar and Uorfi Javed to Anshula Kapoor and Ashish Vidyarthi—against each other in a mind game of trust, betrayal and elimination.

“It’s been incredibly rewarding to see The Traitors strike such a powerful chord with audiences across India,” said Prime Video India Director and Head of Originals Nikhil Madhok. “With its distinctive mix of tension, strategy and emotional honesty, brought to life by our versatile host, Karan Johar and a stellar line up of players who have brought their A-game to the show, the series has emerged as a true breakout. As we continue to shape a bold and diverse unscripted slate at Prime Video, The Traitors stands out as a marquee title that pushes the boundaries of the reality genre. Buoyed by the overwhelming response, we’re thrilled to begin work on Season Two and take the experience to the next level.”

All3Media International EVP APAC Sabrina Duguet added, “We’re thrilled with the overwhelming reception and audience response to the Indian adaptation of The Traitors. Our fantastic collaboration with Prime Video resulted in delivering a version of the format that feels both fresh and true to its core, one that struck a real chord with viewers, who came for the thrill, drama, and their favorite celebrities, but stayed for the novelty, intrigue, and high entertainment quotient. Given the show’s rising popularity within just weeks of its launch, we’re delighted that Prime Video is greenlighting the development of season 2 of the much-loved format that’s sure to raise the bar even higher.”

New episodes of The Traitors season one drop every Thursday at 8 PM, exclusively on Prime Video. If you haven’t been betrayed yet—you’re missing out.

  • Swiggy and Prime Video pull a fast one on foodies with mind-bending Traitors menu

Swiggy and Prime Video pull a fast one on foodies with mind-bending Traitors menu

MUMBAI: When Prime Video and Swiggy say ‘taste the betrayal’, they’re not speaking metaphorically. This week, India’s top OTT giant and the country’s favourite food delivery platform joined forces to mark the launch of the reality thriller The Traitors — not with banners and billboards, but with a plate of pure deceit. The new food experience, cheekily titled ‘Dhoka Khao’, brings illusion to the menu with dishes that look like one thing but taste like another, through a playful partnership with cult favourite Louis Burger.

The campaign went live on 12 June exclusively on Swiggy’s Drops — a limited-time section of the app known for quirky culinary experiments. Available only until supplies last, the dishes rolled out in phases across Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Pune and Chennai.

The theatrical twist lies in two trickster dishes. First up: Two Faced Cupcake, a savoury cornbread sneakily dressed up in dessert clothing with mashed potato frosting. And then there’s Fries Over Lies, which look like your standard fries but serve up sweet flavours instead.

“Just like the show, the food in this campaign is full of surprises”, said Swiggy Ltd CBO Sidharth Bhakoo. “It’s not just about what you watch or what you eat, it’s about elevating both in a way that keeps you guessing till the very last bite”.

Massive Restaurants’ founder & MD Zorawar Kalra, who leads the Louis Burger brand, added, “With Louis Burger at the helm, we’ve crafted an experience where food meets illusion — each bite surprises, delights, and keeps you guessing, much like the show itself. These limited-edition drops are not just burgers; they’re a bold experiment in storytelling through taste”.

Kalra also praised Swiggy’s Drops as a platform for risk-taking and creativity. “Swiggy’s technology and logistics have allowed us to scale efficiently while maintaining the quality our brands are known for”, he said. “Their innovative approach offers a unique platform for our teams to experiment and engage with audiences in fresh, creative ways”.

Backed by celebrity restaurateur Kalra and Prime Video’s storytelling muscle, the ‘Dhoka Khao’ campaign isn’t just a food promo; it’s a deliciously layered metaphor for the show it promotes. The collaboration pushes the envelope on how food, fiction and fandom can collide to deliver new-age, screen-to-plate experiences.

Trust issues? Prime Video’s The Traitors makes betrayal the main game

MUMBAI: Backstabbers, assemble Prime Video’s The Traitors wants your trust, then twists it. The gloves are off and the masks are on in The Traitors, Prime Video’s new psychological reality thriller where lies, suspicion, and manipulation rule the game. Set in a castle-like estate and packed with 20 familiar faces think Karan Kundrra, Uorfi Javed, Raftaar, and Maheep Kapoor the show turns deception into sport and betrayal into strategy.

Adapted from the Emmy and BAFTA-winning global format by IDTV, and produced in India by BBC Studios for Prime Video, The Traitors isn’t just drama, it’s emotional demolition. Friendships are collateral, family bonds are bait, and trust? That’s your biggest weakness.

Each week, contestants face daring tasks and emotional landmines. But it’s the infamous Circle of Shaq that leaves viewers clutching imaginary pearls. Here, alliances are shattered, accusations fly faster than clues, and even the most loyal hearts are accused of treachery. In the first few episodes alone, Maheep openly calls out Players, Apoorva takes no prisoners, and the air is thick with suspicion.

Celebrities like Anshula Kapoor, Ashish Vidyarthi, Jasmine Bhasin, Sudhanshu Pandey, Lakshmi Manchu, Janvi Gaur, and more find themselves second-guessing every smile and decoding every handshake. With reputations on the line, each move is a gamble and in The Traitors, someone’s always bluffing.

The series blends brutal gameplay with emotional vulnerability, an unpredictable mix of Survivor-style endurance and Bigg Boss-style showdowns, but with an added layer of psychological warfare.

The Traitors premiered its first three episodes on Prime Video, with new episodes dropping every Thursday at 8 pm.

So if you’ve ever wondered how far someone might go to win when lying is the rule, not the exception log in, watch your back, and remember: Rise and shine… it’s Dhokha Time.

  • Panchayat fans elect early release, season 4 now drops on 24 June

Panchayat fans elect early release, season 4 now drops on 24 June

MUMBAI: Panchayat fans have spoken, and Prime Video has listened. The wildly popular rural dramedy is returning sooner than expected — with season 4 now set to stream from 24 June, pulling ahead from its earlier 2 July release date.

What caused the shift? A quirky, tongue-in-cheek referendum-style campaign where cast members made mock “election promises” to release the show early — but only if fans cast their votes (read: likes, shares, hashtags).

The social media blitz went viral, with the hashtag #PanchayatNow trending and a brigade of brands jumping into the fray with punny pleas and snackable slogans.

From AJIO and Pepperfry to McCain, Taco Bell, Ixigo, and True Elements, everyone threw their hat into the digital ring. The campaign — crafted by The Zoya Co. — merged humour, nostalgia, and cultural relevance, turning brand posts into fan love letters.

Speaking on this campaign, McCain India retail – digital lead, Sumati Kapur said, “Panchayat is more than just a show, it’s a reflection of the everyday Indian family dynamic, rooted in culture, community, and shared experiences. At McCain, we saw a natural synergy in collaborating with a show that every household relates to. Our hot and crispy snacks are a staple in family conversations, chai breaks, and everything in between just like the moments Panchayat so effortlessly captures. This partnership allowed us to create meaningful noise by placing McCain at the heart of relatable, real storytelling that resonates across generations.”

The fan-first push is not just a win for early binge-watchers — it reflects Panchayat’s cult status. The series has struck a chord with audiences for its grounded humour and affectionate portrayal of small-town India.

With season 4 promising a fiery face-off between Pradhanji and Bhushanji, and the usual dose of satire, soul, and sideways glances, the early drop is just the trailer to a bigger, better panchayat.

Pai charts a Prime course with content strategy role at Amazon

MUMBAI: From broadcast boardrooms to the streaming screen, Saurabh Pai is now scripting his next chapter at Amazon. The media and strategy specialist has taken on a new role in content strategy at Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios, marking a pivotal move in his two-decade-long career in content, analytics, and business planning.

Known for bringing a data-driven approach to programming decisions, Pai’s new position comes after a nearly three-year stint at Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd., where he served as director of network strategy. There, he played a key role in streamlining content planning across the network’s bouquet of channels, using tools like Looker and deep market insights to sharpen audience segmentation and performance forecasting.

Before Zee, Pai spent close to seven years at Times Television Network, where he wore multiple hats across content and product management. From crafting viewer-first propositions to budgeting and performance tracking, he emerged as a critical thinker with a flair for aligning content with consumer intent.

His career also includes a previous stint at Zee as Research Head for niche channels and product lead for Zee Studio, where his early work shaped how the network approached English-language content in India.

At Prime Video, Pai will help steer content decisions in one of the world’s most dynamic and competitive streaming markets. With streaming giants increasingly leaning on insight-led content curation, his hybrid background in content, data and distribution is expected to play a key role in shaping Amazon’s next wave of originals and acquisitions in India.

  • Billboards Behaving Badly as Prime Twists Fan Favourites for The Traitors

Billboards Behaving Badly as Prime Twists Fan Favourites for The Traitors

MUMBAI: If you’ve done a double take at a Mirzapur quote on a billboard lately, you’re not alone. Across Indian cities, something strange is afoot famous lines from hit Prime Video shows like Paatal Lok, Farzi, Panchayat, and The Boys are popping up on massive hoardings… but with a twist.

What at first glance feels like a nostalgic nod to your binge-watch favourites quickly unravels into something more sinister. The quotes look right, but they aren’t quite right and that subtle off-ness is precisely the point. This isn’t just a trip down memory lane. It’s a breadcrumb trail. And the destination? Deception.

Welcome to the world of The Traitors.

Set to launch soon on Prime Video, The Traitors is the Indian adaptation of the globally acclaimed reality format where trust is fragile, alliances are fleeting, and betrayal is always just around the corner. With a gameplay that rewards strategy, subterfuge and social smarts, The Traitors is poised to flip the reality TV genre on its head.

The billboard campaign is the first move in this psychological chess match. Disruptive, cheeky, and slightly unsettling, it plants a single thought in viewers’ minds: can you trust what you see?

In a climate of reboots and reunions, this fresh format brings something more intriguing to the table unpredictability. And as the quotes from familiar shows start to behave badly, it’s clear the game has already begun.

Keep your eyes peeled. The signs are everywhere. The Traitors is coming soon only on Prime Video. But in this game, nothing is what it seems.

  • Pika-boom! Pokémon powers up Realme Hip Hop India Season 2

Pika-boom! Pokémon powers up Realme Hip Hop India Season 2

MUMBAI: What happens when street dance meets supercharged nostalgia? A thunderclap of a collab. Amazon MX Player’s Realme Hip Hop India Season 2 just got an electrifying upgrade thanks to a first-of-its-kind collaboration with none other than Pokémon. In a move that’s equal parts nostalgia, pop culture, and pure entertainment, the show brought Pikachu straight to the dance floor, and audiences can’t get enough.

Already clocking over 20.1 million viewers in just five weeks, the show’s fusion with the Pokémon universe marks a fresh cultural crossover where hip-hop meets pocket monsters. The collab kicked off with a high-voltage dance routine featuring a guest appearance by the iconic Pikachu, whose “moves” lit up the stage (and hearts) in true thunderbolt fashion.

But that’s not all. The fun went digital too, with a wildly imaginative video blending Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket with hip-hop choreography starring none other than judge Malaika Arora. The film cleverly reimagines unboxing Pokémon card packs as dance-offs, where every move channels a Pokémon’s unique power, making it a visual and metaphorical dance of discovery.

“Our collaboration with Pokémon perfectly reflects Amazon MX Player’s commitment to delivering bold, innovative experiences to our audience,” said Amazon MX Player director Aruna Daryanani. “By bringing together the iconic charm of Pokémon with the raw energy of Realme Hip Hop India Season 2, we’re offering viewers a one-of-a-kind cultural mash-up that is unique and memorable. At Amazon MX Player, we constantly strive to break new ground—crafting immersive entertainment and forging meaningful brand partnerships that truly connect with fans and advertisers alike.”

Sharing her thoughts on being a part of the campaign, Judge Malaika Arora expressed, “There’s something truly magical about the world of Pokémon – the adventure, the action, the joy of discovery. Pair that with the energy of hip hop, and it just clicks. This was such a fun and imaginative concept to shoot, and it really captures how two different worlds can come together to create something unforgettable. I’ve always believed that dance is a powerful form of storytelling, and this one’s for every kid who loves the world of Pokémon and every dancer chasing that stage.”

“Our goal with this collaboration was to spark imagination and joy, just as Pokémon has done for fans around the world for decades. Partnering with Amazon MX Player on an impactful show like Realme Hip Hop India S2 gave us the perfect canvas to showcase Pokémon’s playful spirit in a new, movement-driven way. The energy, creativity, and passion seen in this campaign aligns perfectly with what our brand stands for. We are excited to take Pokémon as well as Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket to dance lovers and their loved ones,” shared The Pokémon Company corporate officer Susumu Fukunaga.

With judge Remo D’Souza also in the hot seat, Realme Hip Hop India Season 2 continues to be a battleground for India’s fiercest dancers, blending underground energy with mainstream swagger. And with brand integrations like Pokémon entering the arena, the show is levelling up in every possible way.

New episodes drop every Thursday on Amazon MX Player available via the app, Amazon shopping app, Fire TV, and Prime Video. Because when Pikachu meets popping and locking, you don’t want to blink.

  • Remo stirs the floor as Dharmesh drops the mic on Hip Hop India

Remo stirs the floor as Dharmesh drops the mic on Hip Hop India

MUMBAI: If you thought the beats were wild, wait till you see the twist. Realme Hip Hop India Season 2 is serving up more shockers than a plot-heavy soap. Streaming exclusively on Amazon MX Player, the show’s latest promo has left fans reeling after judge Remo D’Souza dropped a bombshell, the grand finale will now be a Top 4 face-off, not the Top 2 as expected.

With emotions running high and rivalries reaching breaking point, the fight for a finalist’s spot has never looked fiercer. And just when the heat couldn’t turn up any higher, in comes Dharmesh Yelande, not just to judge but to slay the stage himself. His surprise performance shook the room, electrifying both contestants and co-judges alike.

The tension was thick enough to slice with a moonwalk. As dancers put everything on the line for that coveted finalist slot, the pressure pushed some to tears and others to thrilling new heights. This week promises not just jaw-dropping choreography, but a full-blown emotional rollercoaster.

Between high-octane face-offs, musical curveballs, and one dramatic reveal after another, Hip Hop India Season 2 continues to raise the stakes and the swag. Stream it now on Amazon MX Player via the Amazon app, Prime Video, Fire TV, and Connected TVs.

Because in this battle, the beat never drops, only the mic does.
