    Twitter and Rolling Stone India partners live Twitter music gigs called #RollingWith

    MUMBAI: Twitter India and music monthly Rolling Stone India has teamed up to kickstart a new bi-monthly partnership. Called #RollingWith, this curated partnership will see Indian indie musicians and visiting global acts perform live at the Twitter India #BlueRoom, and the performance will be broadcasted live on Periscope via @RollingStoneIN to reach fans across the country and the world on Twitter. Prior to and during the performance, the artists will also engage with fans on Twitter via exclusive video Q&As and more.

    Taking fan engagement from online to offline, a small set of fans, selected via Twitter, will also be invited to watch the gig live at the #BlueRoom.

    These ‘music-and-conversation’ video sessions will give music fans a new way of enjoying live music – with a side of social media infused banter. The series will aim to discover new artists, and offer a space where musicians and fans meet, talk music, and enjoy a nonchalant listening session. To make it a more inclusive experience for fans, artists will crowdsources lyrics, take a Twitter poll of their favourite tracks, make new album announcements, new tour announcements, share gig travel stories, or chat with fans live on Periscope while performing.

    The #RollingWith partnership kickstarted today with British pop sensation, The Vamps (@TheVampsband) that took place live on Twitter on Monday morning. The September and October line-up also includes artists such as Urdu rapper Naezy (@NaezytheBAa), Sandunes (@sandunesmusic), and Mumbai rapper Divine (@VivianDivine), Nucleya (@NUCLEYA) and Dualist Inquiry (@DualistInquiry).

    Yash Raj Films partners Twitter to drive innovation

    MUMBAI: In a move to reach an audience always on the move, Yash Raj Films has teamed up with Twitter India to help reach every Indian film fan with a mobile phone.

     

    Via its Twitter handle @YRF, the film production house will send selective tweets (driven by #YRFBuzz) as SMS to users, who subscribe to the service by giving a missed call to 0-75054-75054. This feature works on any phone, any network and is a completely free of charge, for online as well as offline users.

     

    Yash Raj Films vice president – digital Anand Gurnani said, “We are on the cusp of widespread growth across mobile, web and social media. This syndicated mobility program will aim to reach mobile-friendly audiences and analyze consumption patterns and trends across web and mobile. Moreover, the move is aligned to the company’s ‘mobile-first’ approach.”

     

    Twitter India head of TV and entertainment partnerships Pratiksha Rao added, “In India, Twitter is focused on reaching every person with a mobile phone and this product is in service of that goal. We are excited about Yash Raj Films taking the initiative to make it even more accessible for fans of their movies and content to stay in touch with the latest buzz at one of India’s biggest movie production houses.”

     

    Yash Raj Films is the first production house to activate this kind of service in the entertainment vertical in India.

  • Raheel Khursheed joins Twitter India

    Raheel Khursheed joins Twitter India

    MUMBAI: Although Twitter India started its operations two years ago, it has always kept a low profile in the country. Subtly it keeps adding people to its organisation that is currently headed by Rishi Jaitley who is the director of the social media here. The recent appointment is former Times Now and CNN-IBN senior correspondent Raheel Khursheed as head of news, politics and government.

     

    According to a MediaNama report he will provide front-line technical support to journalists, politicians and governmental agencies. Twitter sources confirmed that he had joined the company but could not reveal any more details.

     

    Both Jaitley and Khursheed have mentioned his appointment on their Twitter pages. Prior to this Khursheed was with change.org where he was heading the communication strategy around campaigns in India and building its brand.

     

    The article also states that his role would be to work on expanding Twitter’s relation with journalists, government officials and politicians to increase their usage of the popular social media website.

     

    Twitter India has also hired Arvinder Gujral to head its mobile business development for India and south East Asia, Aneesh Madani to handle sports partnerships and Pratiksha Rao as associate partnerships manager.
