    IRAA 2019 announces appointment of Mujeeb Dadarkar as Awards Director

    MUMBAI: Indian Recording Arts Academy (IRAA) governing council consisting of Anil Chopra, Founder & Director, PALM Expo and Founder & Executive Chairman, IRAA, Pramod Chandorkar, Founder & Director of Soundideaz Academy and Honorary Chairman of the IRAA Award Committee 2019and Ramesh Chetwani, Exhibition Director, PALM Expo have appointed  esteemed Sound Engineer Mujeeb Dadarkar as Award Director of IRAA Awards 2019.

    Mujeeb Dadarkar, a renownedrecording engineer and technical consultant to the Audio/ Video industry since 1983 is experienced in multiple fields such as Sound Engineering, Studio Design, Computer Hardware, Live Sound Engineering and Systems Integration as an independent consultant.

    His role as a sound engineer has spanned numerous documentaries, advertising and feature film projects. In addition to the above, he has extensive Live sound experience for celebrated artistes like UstadZakirHussain, whom Dadarkar has assisted as FOH engineer during concert tours like “Masters of Percussion” as well as several other concerts.

    As the IRAA Awards Director he will oversee the growth of Awards. His role would involve the translation of his vision into increased entries and selection of the best music and recording from studios across the country. His duties include evaluation and judging process, ensuring that all entries received are reviewed and judged fairly to ensure the awards are conducted in a scrupulous manner.

    Pramod Chandorkar, expressed “I am very happy Mujeeb accepted the post of award director of IRAAAwards. His seniority and vast experience in the field of sound will be very valuable for the whole IRAA team. This year we plan to take the awards to the next level as we expect to double the entries this year than the previous year.     IRAA nominations date extended to 10 May, regional categories

    MUMBAI: The Indian Recording Arts Academy (IRAA) awards today announced that the 2017 entry deadline for submitting nominations has been extended to 10 May, 2017. Spearheaded by IRAA Director Pramod Chandorkar, the nominations will be screened by an 11 member Jury comprising the best in the Music production and post-production industry. There is no voting and final authority is with Jury and their decision is binding on the nominees.

    Soundtracks and albums released between 1 January 2016 and 31 December 2016 are eligible for nomination. Audio files accompanying the entries can be uploaded to a Dropbox link provided on the website.

    For 2017, the IRAA has introduced several new awards and award categories that are crucial to the recording and music production industry.

    The new categories are:

    • Dubbing Engineer for Film – Hindi • Sound Editor (Effects and Ambience) – Hindi • Foley Artist – Hindi• Broadcast Mixing (Dialogue Oriented) – Hindi• Broadcast Mixing (Music Oriented) – Hindi

    With the objective of recognizing the regional music industry, this year the IRAA awards has constituted ‘Regional Awards’ to honour talent outside Mumbai. The same awards have also been earmarked for the regional music industry. These include:

    Film Song Recording & Mixing – Regional
    Sync Sound Recording – Regional Film
    Sound Designer for Feature Film – Regional
    Dubbing Engineer for Film – Regional
    Sound Editor (Effects & Ambience) – Regional
    Broadcast Mixing (Dialogue Oriented) – Regional
    Broadcast Mixing (Music Oriented) – Regional

    The winners will be announced at the IRAA award ceremony which will take place at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon, Mumbai on 3 June, 2017, 4 pm.

    MUMBAI: The Indian Recording Arts Academy (IRAA) awards has announced that the 2017 entry deadline for submitting nominations has been extended to 30 April, 2017.

    With 31 awards over five categories, the IRAA Awards celebrates and recognizes technical excellence and expertise in the field of music recording and production. Entries for the 2017 awards will be accepted through Sunday, 30 April 2017, with the winners being announced at the IRAA Awards Ceremony which will take place at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon, Mumbai on 3 June, 2017, 16:00 hrs onwards.

    Under the guidance of Pramod Chandorkar as the Awards Director, the 2017 IRAA Awards will be presented in the following categories:

    Audio Engineering
    Audio Post Production
    Music Production
    Recording Facility
    Education Awards

    Chandorkar has been working as a Sound Engineer since 1995. He has worked on numerous mega hit albums and films as Chief Sound Engineer. He is one of the few audio engineers who has excelled in all branches of audio ranging from Music Recording, Live Sound, Film Sound Design and Studio Design. He is also a FOH Mix engineer and the Head Technical Engineer for Sonu Nigam Live in concert and has been traveling the world for his tour for last 13 years. He has mixed live for artists like Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhonsle.

    For 2017, the IRAA has introduced several new awards and award categories that are crucial to the recording and music production industry. With the objective of recognising the regional music industry, this year the IRAA Awards has constituted “Regional awards” in all the award categories.

    Also new to IRAA is the Audio Post Production category which includes ten new awards namely – • Dubbing Engineer for Film – Hindi • Dubbing Engineer for Film – Regional • Sound Editor (Effects & Ambience) – Hindi • Sound Editor (Effects & Ambience) – Regional • Foley Artist – Hindi • Foley Artist- Regional • Broadcast Mixing (Dialogue Oriented) – Hindi • Broadcast Mixing (Dialogue Oriented) – Regional • Broadcast Mixing (Music Oriented) – Hindi • Broadcast Mixing (Music Oriented) – Regional

    The “Recording Facility” category has also been enhanced with three new awards besides the annual Music Recording Studio award. The three new awards include ADR Studio (Dialogue & Dubbing), Foley Studio and Surround Mix Studio

    “The 11th edition IRAA Awards Director is Pramod Chandorkar. I do believe under his guidance and intense supervision, the 2017 IRAA awards will be the best ever,” said IRAA founder and chairman Anil Chopra.

    The IRAA Awards will also celebrate the best in Audio Education with two awards – Dronacharya Award for Teachers in Audio Education and Best Audio Education Programme.

    As always, the IRAA Awards also includes the coveted “Lifetime Contribution to Audio Engineering” award which aims to recognize an industry professional who during his lifetime has made contributions of outstanding artistic and technical significance in the field of Audio Engineering. This year the Jury awards also include two more prestigious awards which include the “The Mahaguru Award for Contribution in Music Education” and the award for Lifetime Contribution to Music”.

    The Mahaguru award will be presented, to an industry professional who during his lifetime, has made contributions of outstanding significance in the field of Music Education, while the Lifetime Contribution to Music will be presented, to an industry professional who during his lifetime, has made contributions of outstanding artistic and technical significance in Music.

    The IRAA Awards 2017 nominations are open to Music producers and recording professionals and may be entered online; a full list of categories, award criteria and deadlines can be found at www.iraa.in

    Entries for the IRAA Awards will close on Sunday, 30 April 2017. Submissions must be accompanied by Audio files which can be submitted to a dropbox link provided on the website.

    MUMBAI: The Indian Recording Arts Academy has announced Pramod Chandorkar as the Awards Director. Pramod has been working as a Sound Engineer since 1995. He has worked on numerous mega hit albums and films as Chief Sound Engineer. He is one of the few audio engineers who have excelled in all branches of audio ranging from Music Recording, Live Sound, Film Sound Design, Studio Design and Audio Education.

    Starting out as a musician, Pramod’s journey is marked with an association with many leading sound recording studios. Pramod has also been responsible for designing and deploying more than 30 fully operational sound recording facilities. Currently other than being the founder & director of Soundideaz Academy Pvt. Ltd. a premier institute conducting courses on Sound engineering, he also heads an impressive Audio post-production facility.

    He is also a FOH Mix engineer and the Head Technical Engineer for Sonu Nigam Live in concert and has been traveling the world for his tour for last 13 years .He has mixed live for artists like Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhonsle.

    In the world of Film Sound design he has been active for last four years and in a short span has received four prestigious nominations for Sound Design for Films. He has received the Zee Cine Award for Best Song Recording in 2005 and also three IRRA and one Palm Live Sound Awards too.
