    Day after IPL euphoria, Sony launches FIFA U-17’s co-created song as countdown begins

    MUMBAI: It could not have been timed better. In the backdrop of Star winning the IPL media rights, SPN, the official broadcaster of the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017, has launched the official song — Kar Ke Dikhla De Goal.

    Sony Pictures and FIFA U-17 Local Organising Committee (LOC) have launched the song, marking the 30 day countdown to the tournament.

    With exactly a month to go for the tournament, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) and Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) formally launched Kar Ke Dikhla De Goal, the Official Song of the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017.

    Written by lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya and composed by Pritam, the song features a host of well-known music artistes that include Sunidhi Chauhan, Neeti Mohan, Babul Supriyo, Shaan, Papon, Mika along with a rap performance by actor Abhishek Bachchan.

    The composition showcases the vibrancy and uniqueness of India while resonating with a global audience simultaneously. The music video for the song celebrates diversity, showcases how the nation is waiting in anticipation for FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017, and features stars like Bhaichung Bhutia, Ngangom Bala Devi, Shaan, Papon and the legend Sachin Tendulkar amongst others.

    The music video of the song will be broadcast on SPN’s on-air and digital platforms across genres.

    Minister of state for heavy industries and public enterprises and LOC vice-chairman Babul Supriyo said: “Football is synonymous with euphoria and we shall add on to that virtue with a euphoric Official Song beautifully created by the super hit duo of Pritam and Amitabh Bhattacharya. I can safely say that we’ll have everyone dancing to its tune and cheering the first ever football World Cup in our country with renewed vigour”.

    The FIFA U-17 World Cup, the first FIFA tournament to be held in India, will be played across six venues in October 2017. The tournament will begin on 6 October with the final scheduled to take place on 28 October at the iconic Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata. Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN), the official broadcasters of the tournament, will telecast it live and exclusively on their sports channels and live stream it on their digital platform, SonyLiv.

    MUMBAI: Bank of Baroda became the first Indian company to sign up as a national supporter for the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017, the first FIFA Event to be hosted in the Subcontinent ever in the history of the game. As the excitement continues to grow for the tournament next year, India is bracing to ties its laces and have a good run in the World Cup.

    All India Football Federation president and chairman of the local organising committee Praful Patel said, “As an organisation that has a long affiliation with sports, Bank of Baroda shares our enthusiasm to develop and strengthen football in India. As president of the AIFF, I am committed to ensuring that football development in India gets the support it deserves.”

    Tournament Director Javier Ceppi was not surprised by the keen interest in the National Supporter slots. “This is a landmark event in Indian sport. It is the first ever FIFA tournament to be hosted by India, with the country taking part in it. This is a unique opportunity to be partners in making football history in this country. Joining in at this early stage, Bank of Baroda will have the added advantage of ten months of exposure with the FIFA U-17 World Cup.”

    Increasing awareness and participation in sports has become a key focus for the leading state-owned bank which positions itself as India’s International Bank.

    “We are highly motivated to promote football across the country and to inspire a new generation of youngsters. Partnering with the FIFA U-17 World Cup India, 2017 was a logical choice for us, as there is no bigger sporting event that the country will see next year. It is truly an Indian crusade to make sure that this tournament succeeds and engages our complete population.     NEW DELHI: With the first-ever international football event coming up in India, Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has urged all the stakeholders of the FIFA U 17 World Cup 2017 tournament to work together as a team and put their best foot forward.

     

    Addressing the first board meeting of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the tournament, he assured the complete support of the government. 

     

    Earlier, All India Football Federation (AIFF) President Praful Patel explained the vital importance of the tournament for the overall development of Indian football and outlined the support necessary from all quarters for successfully staging the tournament. 

     

    LOC FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017 Tournament director Javier Ceppi updated the board on the current progress of the preparations. 

     

    Sports secretary Rajiv Yadav and representatives of Goa, Kochi, Guwahati and Kolkata also updated the forum on the current progress of work at the various venues. 

     

    The FIFA U 17 World Cup, 2017 is the first ever FIFA tournament to be held in India and will be staged in September–October 2017. Delhi, Mumbai, Goa, Kochi, Kolkata and Guwahati have been initially shortlisted as venues for the event.

    BBC World in ‘Take Off’ mode with new show

    MUMBAI: Close on the heels of launching an India specific campaign ‘What Affects the World, Affects You’, BBC World announced the start of its 6-part mini series Take Off, on the aviation industry in India, with a panel discussion on the booming sector.
    The mini series will be aired on BBC World every Tuesday at 9 pm, and will talk to leading industry experts, asking them about the recent developments and exploring and analysing the future of this sector. With six repeats planned across weekdays and weekends the show is a key feature of the channel’s March programming
    Region specific programming such as the sector stories on India is undertaken by the channel only in a few countries. BBC World is aggressively looking at the Indian market where it has to compete with both national news channels as well as international news channel CNN.
    Speaking about the mini series, BBC World head of MarCom Vaishali Sharma said, “The mini series to be aired on our global network takes a look at the Indian aviation sector through the years. Our correspondent Karishma Vaswani had covered the ‘Aeroshow’ at Yelahanka and the excitement that has been generated over this sector in the past few years made it ideal to showcase this sector. The aviation industry has witnessed phenomenal growth in the last few years. With Take Off, BBC World will showcase the opportunities and achievements created by the Indian boom in the aviation sector, plus the threats.”
    As part of the promotional activity, the channel also had a brief panel discussion on the budget and growth of the aviation segment with Go Air managing director Jeh Wadia and Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation (Capa) CEO Kapil Kaul, along with minister for civil aviation Praful Patel, who joined in via video conferencing.
    The mini series, which was commissioned to Miditec, starts at the cusp of the ‘Aero Show’ at Yelahanka in Bangalore and traces the journey of Indian aviation through the decades. The first episode takes an overview of the industry and the various issues that surround it. The subsequent issues will probe deeper into the problems faced by low cost airlines, government apathy, infrastructure problems, airline personnel as well as the rise of the budget airlines and privatisation.
    Speaking about the advertising for the show, BBC World ad sales head Seema Mohapatra mentions that while the aviation sector itself could not advertise on the show, there had been great response from other advertisers. “The aviation sector spins off so many other areas like tourism and domestic travel for business that we are bound to see advertisers in those areas as well.”
    The promotions for the show include a multimedia marketing campaign with BBC leveraging its radio connection. Sharma said, “We are looking at radio very actively and will use FM stations like Radio One and Radio City. The show will also be promoted through print, outdoor and online media.”
