    Pro Kabaddi League season 8 to begin in December

    Mumbai: Mashal Sports plans to commence the eighth season of vivo Pro Kabaddi League in December 2021.

    The company has announced that the player auction for the latest season will take place between 29 and 31 August. The three-day auction process in Mumbai will be telecast on the Star Sports Network.

    This player auction will see domestic, overseas, and new young players (NYPs) divided into four Categories: Category A, B, C and D. Within each category, the players will be further subdivided as ‘All-Rounders’, ‘Defenders’ and ‘Raiders’. Base prices for each of the categories are Category A – Rs 30 Lakh, Category B – Rs 20 Lakh, Category C –Rs 10 lakh, Category D – Rs 6 lakh.

    The total salary purse applicable to each franchisee for its squad for season eight is Rs 4.4 crore. The player pool has been expanded to 500+ athletes including all squad players from PKL season six and seven, as well as all players who have represented the top eight ranked teams of the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India’s (AKFI) senior men’s national Kabaddi championships of 2020 and 2021 amongst others.

    Before going into the auction, the PKL teams are also expected to exercise their choice of retention of PKL season seven squads as per the league policies. For each PKL season, teams are allowed to retain up to six players under the elite retained players category and up to six NYPs under stipulated conditions. Of the 500+ players from the player pool, players who are not retained by the franchisees will go under the hammer which will be broadcast live.

    “PKL season eight, will be conducted as per strict government rules and safety protocols with the support and cooperation of all our stakeholders and associates in the national kabaddi ecosystem under the AKFI”, said Mashaal Sports, chief executive officer and PKL, league commissioner, Anupam Goswami.

  • IPL: BCCI interim admin issues directions on player auction

    MUMBAI: BCCI’s Committee of Administrators (CoA) on Sunday issued the following directions in respect of the upcoming IPL Player Auctions to be held in Bengaluru on 20th February 2017:

    1. C. K. Khanna, Amitabh Choudhary, Anirudh Chaudhry and any other persons who claim to be ex-officio members of the IPL GC on account of being office bearers of the BCCI shall not be entitled to attend the IPL Player Auctions since the issue regarding validity of the undertakings filed by such persons pursuant to the order dated 2nd January 2017 is still pending before the Supreme Court.

    2. In respect of other members of the IPL GC, only those persons who are not disqualified in terms of the strict understanding/ interpretation of the disqualifications in terms of the various orders issued by the Supreme Court may attend the IPL Player Auctions.

    3. The Committee of Administrators does not have complete data to determine whether each of the members of the IPL GC other than the ex-officio members are disqualified or not. In view thereof, the said other members are requested to assess for themselves as to whether they are disqualified or not. Should they attend the IPL Player Auctions, the concerned members would be deemed to have undertaken and represented that they are not disqualified as aforesaid.

    4. In the event less than two of the members are available to attend the IPL Player Auctions on 20 February 2017, any role that may ordinarily have been performed by the IPL GC in relation to the IPL Player Auctions will be performed by such persons as the Committee of Administrators may separately designate for the purpose, if required.

    MUMBAI: Player auction for the second season of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) will be held on 10 July, 2015. Hero ISL franchisees will put their boardroom strategy into practice while bidding for the best Indian talents for season 2015.

     

    Ten of India’s finest footballing talents, which includes Sunil Chhetri will feature in the first Hero Indian Super League ‘Player Auction’.

     

    The player auction list is as follows: Sunil Chhetri, Jackichand Singh, Seityasen Singh, Karanjeet Singh, Thoi Singh, Robin Singh, Rino Anto, Anas Edathodika, Arata Izumi and Eugeneson Lyngdoh.

     

    All ten players in the auction list had missed on the inaugural season of Hero ISL last year owning to their individual contracts with respective I-League clubs. However they showed keen interest to be a part of the unrivalled football league for the 2015 season. The success of the inaugural season of the Hero ISL has brought back world’s interest into Indian football. Hero ISL’s 11-week format featuring eight city-based franchisees, international footballing stars, renowned coaches, Indian talents, competitiveness and celebrity owners has helped reignite Indian football not just within the country but also internationally.

     

    Six of the ten players in the auction list i.e. Sunil Chhetri, Robin Singh, Thoi Singh, Arata Izumi, Anas Edathodika and Karanjeet Singh, have signed with Football Sports Development Limited – the promoters of Hero ISL, as free agents. Jackichand Singh and Seityasen Singh have been loaned from I-League club Royal Wahingdoh FC while Rino Anto and Eugeneson Lyngdoh are loaned from Bengaluru FC.

     

    The four times AIFF Player of the Year Chhetri commands the highest base price in the Hero ISL Player Auction at Rs 80 lakh, followed by goalkeeper Karanjeet Singh at Rs 60 lakh. Robin Singh, Arata Izumi and Anas Edathodika have been pegged at Rs 40 lakh base price, while Thoi Singh is just a notch below at Rs 39 lakh. Eugeneson Lyngdoh will be at Rs 27.50 lakh base price and the Royal Wahingdoh loaned duo Jackichand Singh and Seityasen Singh will be at Rs 20 lakh each. Rino Anto commands the lowest base price in the auction list at Rs 17.50 lakh.

     

    Additionally, Football Sports Development Limited also announced an extensive list of 113 Indian players for Hero ISL 2015 Draft. The eight ISL franchisees as of date have 64 Indian players on their roster either retained from last year or signed from the open market. The comprehensive Draft list will help ISL franchisees to fill up a total of 40 positions of the Indian player quota. The Draft will be held on the same day as the Player Auction on 10 July 2015.
