Mountain Dew encourages people to be courageous in new TVC

MUMBAI: Mountain Dew brand has always focused on facing one’s fears to achieve exemplary results. Targeted at the youth of India, the beverage brand has unveiled a new campaign that encourages consumers to move beyond their fears and stand victorious in the race of life.

The new TVC delves into the daily struggles of people across the spectrum – bringing out that each person reacts differently to circumstances and that fear is subjective with no definite scale, measure, or boundary. The film is a reverberation of Mountain Dew’s belief that in case of a challenge, there are only two choices one can make – either give in to fear and turn back or overcome fear and move ahead with courage. It is the choice that one makes that sets the real heroes apart from the rest.

The film brings together situations and scenarios from the lives of different people in the form of a montage – a boy facing the microphone in front of an audience, a boxer in the boxing ring, a biker at the edge of a cliff, a girl standing at the edge of a diving board, a boy frozen in his steps to paraglide and a girl sending a text to break up with her partner – all these people are hesitating to take their challenges head-on. In comes Mountain Dew – with one sip of the drink, metaphorically, these moments of hesitation and fear are dissolved as the characters take the plunge with faith and courage to face their fears.

PepsiCo India category director Mountain Dew Vineet Sharma said, “With our ‘Darr Ke Aage Jeet Hai’ philosophy, Mountain Dew has always celebrated the spirit of those who push themselves forward in the face of fear to achieve extraordinary results. The brand acknowledges that fear is universal, and every individual is beset with the feeling of fear. Fear can arise from a myriad of situations that are unique to each one of us and in this film, we have tried to focus on everyday fears that many of us can relate to. We believe that real heroes are those that face the challenge head-on and eventually emerge as winners. We are confident consumers across the country will relate to this touching new film and as always, the philosophy of ‘Darr Ke Aage Jeet Hai’ will resonate strongly with them.”

Flibbr Consulting managing partner Rahul Jauhari stated, “Speaking of everyday fears yet keeping the ethos, energy and adrenaline rush of the brand was a fine line one had to tread and I’m glad we could deliver on the brief. We are confident that this TVC will help in connecting to a wider audience at a deeper level.”

The new Mountain Dew campaign and TVC will be amplified across TV, digital, outdoor, and social media with a 360-degree campaign. The beverage is available in single/multi-serve packs across modern and traditional retail outlets as well as on leading e-commerce platforms.

  • DDB MudraMax OOH refreshes brand Star Sports

DDB MudraMax OOH refreshes brand Star Sports

MUMBAI: STAR India recently revamped the branding of the sports network and unveiled a new brand for Star Sports across six channels — Star Sports 1, 2, 3, 4, HD1 and HD2 and starsports.com.

To create the awareness and buzz for the new brand identity and to communicate the new brand philosophy – Believe, Star Sports partnered with DDB MudraMax OOH.

The campaign was rolled out when India tuned in to watch Sachin Tendulkar play the last series of his sports career. The massive OOH campaign was executed in Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata as well as across major cities in Gujarat and UP. The campaign used multiple visuals of Mahendra Singh Dhoni as well as the brand logo as part of the campaign creative.

On the campaign, STAR India executive vice president marketing & communications Gayatri Yadav said, “The work done by DDB MudraMax OOH for the brand refresh campaign has been outstanding. The DNA and essence of the brand refresh was well understood and reflected in the manner in which the planning and media selection was done by the agency. Especially the Star Sports zone and roadblocks conceptualized and executed at Mumbai and Delhi airports are noteworthy and have created a great impact and buzz for the refresh. We are very impressed with the positive reviews received for the campaign. DDB MudraMax has delivered on our expectations yet again.”

Commenting on this, DDB MudraMax OOH retail and experiential president Mandeep Malhotra said, “Sport is very close to my heart and when the opportunity to associate with a brand standing tall to the passion came up, was really thrilled to create magic. The team did a wonderful job on picking up unusual formats of advertising. Various touch points were exploited and the new identity made it to top of mind recall with a smooth transition.”

DDB MudraMax OOH VP Spencer Noronha added, “Star Sports aimed at starting a revolution in sports broadcasting and the media strategy was to amplify this sports revolution through an occasion that is relevant to all and thus inspire every Indian sports fan. This soul of this campaign was “premium and classy” and hence it was crucial that the media selection had to be in line with that imagery. We selected the most impactful, most premium and the largest of available media vehicles in each of the target cities to create a statement in the OOH space. The quality of the selected media reflected class and helped the campaign to quickly get noticed and talked about. The eye catching creatives amplified the impact and recall manifold. It’s definitely one of the most memorable OOH campaigns in 2013”

DDB MudraMax OOH DGM Anurudha Pawar said, “OOH is a communication platform where the brand is racing against time to grab attention and communicate with the TG while he zooms past the media within a few seconds. This makes it all the more important for the brand to use the right media mix and deploy an optimized communication tailor made for the medium. We exactly did this for the refresh campaign. The media vehicles were meticulously handpicked to project class; and the creatives were kept ultra outdoor friendly to specifically communicate the grandeur of the brand. We took the innovative branding route by creating the Star Sports Zone, Stadium visibility corridors and airport roadblocks, to ensure each and every person exposed to the communication carried a positive image of the brand with him in this mind. I am sure we have succeeded doing that.”

A multimedia approach was used for the campaign. Large format A+ grade billboards and Unipoles, Backlit Bus Shelters, Backlit Pole Kiosks, 4 Sided Backlit Pillars, Large Backlit Glow signs, Drape, Prominent Mall Facades, Digital Screens at airports and Gantries were meticulously selected at key touch points in each city. The creatives were optimized for each of the media formats used. DDB MudraMax also brought in a couple of significant planning and media innovations to help portray the grandeur of the brand refresh and garner high recall value for the campaign. Visual domination was the key.

  • ‘We always look at ways to improve our consumer experience’

‘We always look at ways to improve our consumer experience’

MUMBAI: While growing up, we all loved the flavour of the soft, creamy choco-filled candy that effortlessly melted in our mouths, leaving us craving for more. Most of us have grown up with that familiar taste of Cadbury’s Eclairs. We have shared the choco-candy with our friends and family in the moments of joy and celebration and even otherwise. Now, the confectionary brand is repackaging one of its most popular products.

Keeping up with the fast-paced lifestyle, Cadbury re-launched Cadbury Éclairs as Cadbury Choclairs. Even in 2009, Cadbury Eclairs was re-launched with an enriched chocolate center.

The reason behind this change is very simple – as a brand, Cadbury always looks at ways to improve its consumer experience. Elaborating more on it, Cadbury India powdered beverages (Gum & Candy) associate vice president Amit Shah says, “In 2011, Cadbury Éclairs heralded in the New Year with another exciting addition to its fold – the new Cadbury Eclairs Rich Brownie. Our rebranding decision is based on this philosophy of product innovation and not so much on what is going on in the market place. Also, we hold the global copyrights for Choclairs and thought the time is right to introduce this name in India to align with the global brand name for the candy.”

Except India, the candy from the house of Cadbury has globally been known as Choclairs. And it’s not just the name that has changed; there some specific positive product innovation as well in order to give consumers a new experience with every bite of Choclairs. Adds Shah, “Apart from enabling us to align with the global brand name, this name change will also help consumers distinguish our brand, the original Cadbury candy, from other branded and unbranded Eclairs available in the market.”

And since old habits take time to die, the launch is accompanied by a 360 degree campaign to generate rapid awareness about the change. Television is, of course, the key medium that introduces the new brand name. However, the TV campaign is also supported by a radio campaign, print inserts, cinema campaign and social media activation.

Besides, to reach consumers in small towns, the brand has opted for cyber cafe integrations with a branded jigsaw puzzle and Interactive Voice Recording (IVR) integration with Cadbury Choclairs caller tune. All these initiatives along with trade activation have been initiated to create awareness and build the excitement amongst consumers for Cadbury Choclairs.

Contract Advertising has been brought on board to work on the campaign.

MUMBAI: Zee Americas has added Doonya: The Bollywood Workout to its fall weekend schedule. The Doonya series premieres on 5 October 2013 on Zee TV, Zing and Zee Cinema in North America bringing dance and fitness (with a Bollywood twist!) to 800,000 homes.

Doonya’s founders – Priya Pandya and Kajal Desai – have created a program that takes Bollywood inspired movements and connects them to target muscle groups. Their clear and easy-to-follow instruction allows the audience to burn calories (up to 800 per hour) and build strength and stamina through cardio and conditioning workouts.

“We know south Asians love to dance,” says Desai, “but working out isn’t something our community is known for.”

“Diabetes, coronary artery disease and obesity are all issues plaguing our community right now. And it can be hard to combat these diseases when working out isn’t always fun,” adds Pandya.

“Doonya bridges that gap and provides a workout that is fun for the entire family! You’ll dance to songs you recognise using moves you already know, but will do them in a way that gives you results,” says Desai.

Pandya finishes, “Over the last seven years we’ve been teaching Doonya, we’ve seen our students’ bodies transform through our program. We are excited to share a program that is so rooted in our culture and upbringing with our community.”

Zee Americas GM Sameer Targe said, “Doonya is the first of its kind fitness program that is based on Bollywood dancing.  We are very excited to partner with them as it coincides with our programming philosophy of “Entertainment with a Purpose”. A locally produced show was a natural move for us as it further strengthens our leadership position in the US.”
Zee subscribers would be able to catch Doonya’s workouts on Zee Cinema every Saturday at 9:30 am, Zee TV on Saturdays at 11:30 am, Zee TV Canada on Saturdays at 11:30 am and on Zing every Sunday at 11:00 am.
