    Dentsu Aegis Network celebrates Diwali with philanthropic activities

    MUMBAI: Dentsu Aegis Network has initiated the “Joy of Giving” week to celebrate Diwali not just amongst its own employees but even beyond.

     

    As part of the initiative, Dentsu Aegis Network organised a week-long Diwali Mela across all its Mumbai offices, where NGOs were invited to set up stalls and showcase their artwork.

     

    “Kitchen Re-fill” project was their second initiative this Diwali, as part of which, more than 300kgs of rice grains and 40kgs of pulses were donated to St. Francais, an orphanage located in Borivali (Mumbai).

     

    Dentsu Aegis Network, SA, chairman and CEO Ashish Bhasin said, “At Dentsu Aegis Network, we consider it as our responsibility to spread knowledge and joy amongst our employees and also give back to the society. Everyone here is special and therefore, on this festive occasion, we decided to reach out to our employees and their kids and also engage with the less privileged children from the orphanage we support. The objective behind hosting this fun day was to celebrate the onset of Diwali with happiness and to make everyone feel at home in their second home, our office.”

     

    In addition to the above, the Group also organised the “Newspapers Collection” drive for the NGO The Wasted Ones, which sells old newspapers and utilises the proceeds to provide meals to schools for the underprivileged children. Meanwhile, 30 children from Shelter Don Bosco were invited to Dentsu Aegis Network for a fun filled day on 9 November.

     

    Dentsu Aegis Network’s Bangalore office conducted a blood donation drive and collected more than 50 bottles of blood. Employees also visited VKH Rainbow Home-Kodihalli Orphanage on 6 November to donate food grains and stationery.

     

    The network’s Gurgaon office collected funds from its employees’ salary to provide gloves, socks, caps and notebooks to the underprivileged children, which is supported by the Sankalp Welfare Society.

     

    In Kolkata, the Group’s employees decided to spend a few constructive hours with the boys of Dakshin Kalikata Sevasram, a home for the destitute.

     

    Dentsu Aegis Network India CFO Anand Bhadkamkar added, “At Dentsu Aegis Network, we believe in creating an environment, which is not just responsible towards its employees and also the society and communities that we work in. As part of our Diwali celebrations, we decided to share the joy of festivities by partnering with various NGOs across offices, and thereby providing a platform to the Network employees to celebrate and share the joy of Diwali with socially and economically weaker sections of the society.”

    Chevrolet India gets philanthropic

    MUMBAI: To reach out to the less fortunate children in India, Chevrolet India as a part of the corporate social responsibility (CSR) mission of “Driving a Better Tomorrow” along with One World Futbol Project recently announced the donation and delivery of 20,000 footballs to marginalised and underprivileged children in India, especially those who cannot afford and maintain a football.

    The unique initiative kicked off with the donation of 91 footballs to Sankalp School in Gurgaon — a school for underprivileged children, run by Gurgaon-based NGO Sankalp Welfare Society.

    “Many of these children are growing up in less privileged circumstances where sometimes a game of football could lighten up their lives by teaching them the true meaning of team spirit and fair play,” said, GM India president and MD Lowell Paddock.

     “The joy that comes from playing football can help lift their spirits and replace despair with hope. Chevrolet’s founding sponsorship of One World Futbol Project is intended to spark a worldwide movement to give children a pathway out of poverty and despair with the benefits that fitness, sport and teamwork can bring – something we call the ‘Power of Play’,” added Paddock.

    “It’s our pleasure to work with Chevrolet India to support the donation and delivery of One World Futbols — first to Sankalp School and then throughout the rest of India with Slum Soccer,” said One World Futbol Project CEO Arnold Ambiel. “The spirit of this joint collaboration will allow us to bring the power of play to more children throughout India than any of us could have done alone. And seeing the joy on the children’s faces on Children’s Day makes all these efforts worthwhile.”

    Google teams up with US, UK govt. agencies to bring internet to the common man

    NEW DELHI: Government agencies in the UK and US along with Google have announced a joint venture by the name of “Alliance for Affordable Internet” to bring internet to the population of billions on planet earth.

    The initiative is a joint venture by Google, US agency for International Development and its British Counterpart and philanthropic company run by eBay Founder Omidyar, Omidyar Network.

    Other helping firms include Yahoo, Microsoft, Intel, Cisco, Ericsson and African ISP MainOne. Alliance is going to work to pursue the governments to regulate and policy formation for better internet access.

    “A4AI has a specific goal in mind: to reach the UN Broadband Commission target of entry-level broadband access priced at less than five per cent of monthly income worldwide,” said Jennifer Haroon, Principal Executive of Google’s access programme, in a blog post.
    Group is working to contact 10 countries till 2015 to negotiate on easing of import of technology and resources to kick start the internet revolution in those countries. This envisaged goal can have far reaching impact not only in those countries but on whole global scenario. It can help reshape the social, corporate and political outlook which is visible by the part played by Social Media in Arab spring.

    MUMBAI: After shooting exclusive promos with lead actors of its shows to promote the cause of providing relief to those affected by disaster in Uttarakhand and asking viewers to send in their donations, Star India has gone further and urged its employees to get philanthropic.

    Star India CEO Uday Shankar requests its employees to contribute a day’s salary for Uttarakhand relief fund

    According to sources, Star India CEO Uday Shankar sent an email (a copy of which is with indiantelevision.com) to Star India employees requesting them to contribute at least a day’s salary or more to the relief fund for the victims. In the email Shankar says that the company will match the contribution made by the employees and the sum collected will be used towards relief operations.

    “As responsible citizens and more importantly as employees of a company that has a deep connect with millions of Indians, Star extends the support in whatever way they can,” the Star India CEO says in the email. “Towards this, Star India is launching an effort to provide some solace to the thousands who have been affected by this disaster.”
